trump and the president of iran. well, good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. a gunman opened fire late last night in the streets of toronto, killing at least one person and wounding 13 others. witnesses say they heard 20 to 30 shots fired in a popular toronto neighborhood kno greek town. police say a woman was killed and a young girl is in krut cal condition. the condition of other victims is not known. the shooter died in an exchange of gunfire with the police. police say the shooting was not random, but it's too early to say if the shooting was terror related. >> i'm looking at possibly every single motive. it's of grave concern. i certainly want to find out exactly what it is.

so i'm not closing any doors or any chapters on this. >> this happened on one of the busiest streets in the city. over the weekend toronto police had deployed dozens of additional officers to deal with the recent spike in gun violence. police are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward. well, today the coast guard plans to begin efforts to salvage the tourist boat that sank during a sudden storm on a missouri lake. 17 people were killed thursday. investigators want to know how much the captain knew about the weather. a memorial service for the victims including nine members of one family was held last night. laura podesta is here in new york. laura, good morning. >> good morning, anne-marie. and hundreds of people from the branson community went to last night's memorial service. also in attendance were the 14 survivors of the duck boat tragedy. the church bell at williams

chapel at college of the ozarks rang out 17 times sunday, one for each person who died when a missouri duck boat capsized during a powerful storm. >> we honor the 17 lives that were lost. we honor the 14. >> tia coleman survived. she lost three children, her husband, and five other family members on the duck boat. >> if i was able to get a life jacket, i could have saved my babies because they could have at least floated to the top and somebody could have grabbed them, and i wasn't able to do that. >> today the coast guard will use salvage equipment to pull the boat from the bottom of the lake. they'll pull the black box. the national transportation safety board wants to know what the captain who's among the dead knew about the forecasted

weather. >> you could clearly see that the duck was having issues out in the water, it wasn't going very well. >> jennie carr took video from a nearby boat. >> i really wanted to do something, you know, but what could you do. >> the 17 victims range in age from 1 to 76 years old. they were from arkansas, illinois, indiana, and missouri. a former chairman of the national transportation safety board is now speaking out, saying duck boats should be banned from commercial recreational use. james hall said the boat's design makes it prone to the sort of accident that happened anne-marie? >> laura podesta here in new york. thanks a lot, laura. well, first on "cbs this morning," we'll hear from a teenage survivor of the duck boat cenking who lost her father and brother in the strategy. president trump issued a no holds barred warning to the president of iran.

he said, never, ever threaten the u.s. again or you'll suffer consequences that the likes of few have ever suffered before. mr. trump was responding to this warning from rouhani yesterday as he was speaking to iranian diplomats. he said, mr. trump, koedon't pl with the lion's tail. this will only lead to regret. americans should know peace with iran is the mother of all peace and war with iran is the mother of all wars. president trump has also been tweeting about released documents of aaron page. >> reporter: waking up from his bedminster golf course, president trump woke up firing tweets on the blast of his own department of justice after it released pages targeting carter page.

it states, quote, the fbi believes that page has been collaborating and conspiring with the russian government. >> this is so ridiculous, it's just beyond words. i've never been an agent of the foreign power by any stretch of the imagination. >> the president tweeted the ridiculously heavily redacted documents proved the fbi mislead the courts, describing the surveillance as an illegal scamp. gop senator marco rubio told cbs the surveillance was justified. >> they did not spy on the cam pawn from anything and everything i have seen. you have an individual here who has openly bragged about his ties to russia and russians. over the wee trsain it inconceivable that a lawyer would tape a client. the president was reacting to news that his attorney recorded a discussion with mr. trump before the 2016 election. it was about a potential payment for a former playmate model who

said she had an affair with mr. trump. the recording is part of the material confiscated by the fbi when it raided cohen's office, hope, and hotel room back in april. the trump campaign said it knew nothing about any payment to ex-centerfold karen mcdougal. in clearwater, florida, there was news that a sheriff will not arrest a man who shot and killed black man during a parking lot confrontation. the sheriff says the incident falls under florida's "stand your ground" law. meg oliver has our report. >> and all marques did was try to protect his family. he didn't do nothing wrong. he didn't do nothing wrong. >> reporter: the shooting death of britany jacobs' boyfriend and father of three was caught on video on thursday afternoon. it started with him parking illegally in a handicap spot.

you can see him walk inside with his 5-year-old son. shortly after, this man, 47-year-old michael drejka confronts jacobs for parking without a permit. >> he was basically saying i need to move the car and he's got family and they're handicapped and i need to move the car now. >> reporter: moments later he returns and slams drejka to the ground. drejka fired his gun and shot a singile round into mcglockton's back. the 28-year-old stumbled back into the store and collapsed in front of his son. he died later at the hospital. >> he believed that mcglockton was going to come back. that is within the bookends of stand your ground. >> reporter: florida "stand your ground" laws allows residents to use deadly force if they believe they're in fear of death or great bodily harm.

nicaragua could lead to a civil war. thousands took to the streets of nicaragua yesterday denouncing daniel ortega. rubio criticized him for undermining democracy. he said it could trigger a migratory crisis. "the san diego union tribune" says hall of fame jockey victor espinoza suffered a fractured neck when the horse he was riding collapsed and died during a training run. officials at del mar's racetrack says a 4-year-old coat named bobby abu dhabi suffered an apparent heart attack during a morning workout. they expect espinoza to make a full recovery. a transgender actor will play the first trance hero. nicole mason will play the character known as dreamer. she is known for her battle against a school district over

mr. trump tweeted early today about the dangers of making hostile threats, warning the iranian president, you'll suffer consequences, the likes of few throughout history have ever suffered. earlier the iranian president warned a war with iran is the mother of all wars. a troop swept in to evacuate rescue workers known as the white helmet. jonathan vigliotti has more. >> reporter: they say it was a human taurean gesture done at the request of the united states. the military evacuated hundreds of white helmets and their families from southwest syria through the volatile area. they were then transported to jordan in a convoy of buses. the white helmets have long been celebrated by the west for their volunteer work rescuing tens of thousands only people during the conflict. but syria's government and their ally russia have claimed they're terrorists helping the rebels.
