good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. we begin with breaking news out of beijing. there was an explosion outside the embassy. it's located in northeastern beijing. an individual detonated a s device. the only person injured was the bomber and police identified him as a 26-year-old man. his motive is not known. in this country, it's another morning of severe weather affecting millions of people. here on the east coast unrelenting rain continues to cause flooding concerns, but out west dangerous heat is helping to refuel the fires. out in east los angeles, one fire threatened and evacuated an entire town. at least 500 homes have been destroyed.

the milwaukee sentinel journal said a police officer was shot and killed. the 17-year veteran was attempting to arrest a suspect on drug and gun charges when there was the exchange of gunfire. fellow cops on motorcycle accompanied the officer's body to the medical examiner's office. the lansing state journal says larry nassar wants to be resentenced and have a michigan judge disqualified. the former michigan state gymnastics doctor is serving a 60-year sentence in federal

prison for child pornography, and he was sentenced to more in state prison on sexual assault charges. attorneys say he was attacked at a prison in arizona. they're blaming the judge for demonizing him during a sentencing hearing. "newsweek" looks at a new policy in which soldiers with hiv could be kicked out of the military. in october the new policy started. they consider them undeplorable for any reason. military personnel with hiv are seen as undeplorable and are at risk of being dismissed. facebook's stock takes a big hit, a >> good moing, anne-marie. news that the u.s. and european union are working to lower tariffs sent stocks higher. health care and industrial shares posted solid gains. the dow rallied 172 points. the s&p 500 rose 25 points. the nasdaq added 91 points, closing at an all-time high. on the flip side shares of facebook are plunging nearly 28% in after-hours trading. part of it is concerns over privacy and content and the user base did not grow as fast as it did the second quarter. revenue jumped 42%, but that was slightly lower than what wall street was expecting. as of june 30th there werion.

our top stories this morning, one of the wildfires raging in california forced the evacuation of an entire mountain town east of los angeles. some 12,000 people. at least five homes have been destroyed and 600 others are threatened. meanwhile flood watches and warnings are posted from virginia to vermont. a stalled weather system continues to drench the region. and a group of conservative republican congressmen introduced articles of impeachment against deputy attorney general rod rosenstein. rosenstein overseas robert mueller's russia investigation. the lawmakers say that he has failed to produce information to house committees. house leaders have so far not
