western edge of clear lake. ann is live in lake county this afternoon. . >> reporter: cal fire says the fire is 12% contained. they're officially saying ten structures burned, but the number is likely to go up. it's day five for two fires burning north and west of clear lake. they've torn through 116 square miles. cal fire says flames are threatening more than 12,000 homes and buildings. >> we've been evacuated for three days and are looking for information. >> reporter: today a community meeting where the lake county board declared a state of emergency. >> what does that mean for us affected by it? >> reporter: officials didn't have many answers but tried to reassure the crowd. . >> we are now facingim resource to suppress the innocent. >> reporter: the sheriff choked up. >> for those of what that have

almost a ghost town right now. and to give you an idea of how disrupted the counties are right now, when officials were asked what people should do if benefit they have a court date, there are several offices dotted around the county. the only advice that officials could give would be to call the courts and if they don't pick up, assume they're closed. it's hot, but there's not a lot of the wind. we're see what happens this afternoon as we find out what is next for the fire fight. and with more on the weather conditions out there, netanyahu here's a look at the ---out there, here's a look at the current conditions. >> nos necessarily in lake port, but temperature wise, 84 degrees. the humidity is low at 21%.

that's it. the afternoon high, 99 degrees. staying in the 90s tomorrow as well. leer aesz the look at the fires burning. the ferguson fire. this is the complex and carr fire right there. firefighters dealing with dwrie and windy conditions. it's hot, 95 to 105 degrees in the areas where the fires are. the air quality is unhealthy by the clear lake area. and we're starting to see the smoke moving down into parts of the bay area. this is the observatory view toward the east. look how hazy it is out there. we'll continue do see that -- to see that this afternoon. a wild fire is the seventh most destructive in state history. the carr fire has burned more than 100,000 acres. latest numbers show it's 27% contained and more than 1200 buildings have been reduced to ash and more than 2500 are still at risk.

this is the first court test for robert mueller's investigation. the trial centers on tax evasion and bank fraud charges not directly related to his work with the trump campaign. manafort has refused to cooperate with investigators and his lawyers say that will not change. >> no chance. >> manafort was indicted last october along with his former business partner who also serve d as a trump campaign official. he agreed to a plea deal. today is supreme court justice anthony kennedy's last day on the job. he was nominated to the high court by president reagan in 1987 and confirmed the following year. kennedy has been considered the pivotal swing vote on the bench. he announced his retirement last month. starting tomorrow, getting a gun could be as easy as the click of a mouse. a company will release

is burning, lake port, 99. redding, expecting 105 this afternoon. it's still extremely hot for the firefighters. they're dealing with the dry heat. and yes, the wind direction is coming in from the west right now. a lot of the wind is pushing the smoke toward the east and also shifting a little in a northwest direction and that's sending it to the bay area. right around the water, we are protected by the clouds. this ridge is contributing to the hot air and the low is starting to move in to the east. and that brings the temperatures down a bichlt and watching for moisture. lightning strikes east of fresno. we'll see that throughout the higher elevations for the afternoon and again tomorrow afternoon as well. that ridge is creating unstable air skap that will bring us lightning strikes and possibly rain for the ferguson fire. hopefully not dry lightning. sunset the at 8:19. sunrise tomorrow at 6:13.

today's tip of the day is green skin avocados. they have a high content to make the dip. these are for avocado toasts and salads and sandwiches. they're fantastic, but don't have the high oil content. but did flavor is there. and they're less expensive than the haas variety. these don't turn black. if they're black, they're overripe. a slight give to the touch. and store them on the counter and never in the refrigerator. in the refrigerator, the inside will turn black. too cold.
