essentially the seat of government in the uk. and earlier this morning, a car rammed into the outer perimeter of westminster, of the houses of parliament. the driver of that car, as we know, has been arrested, and the other occupant in the car. at this stage, police are not calling it a terrorist incident, although it does bear all the hallmarks of a car ramming

incident as well, but accidents also happen. so, at this stage, police have not releasing that information. they say they will give updates. all the roads around this area, as you can see, have been cordoned off. police have blocked them. pedestrians and traffic are not being allowed through those cordons. and at this stage, police are monitoring the situation. they say that a number of pedestrians have been injured, but none of them are in a life-threatening condition at this stage. >> debora patta in london, thank you so much. back here in the u.s., the potential for more flood-producing rain exists in the northeast today, and the very wet and dangerous weather is expected to last through tomorrow. that's bad news for folks in central and eastern pennsylvania, where flash floods have forced evacuations, closed roads, and swamped entire towns. flash flood warnings and watches are posted for northern pennsylvania and southern new york.

john schiumo is here in new york. good morning. >> good morning to you. those warnings and watches affect millions of americans, many of whom are already dealing with extensive damage from yesterday's storms. rescue crews worked throughout the day monday after powerful storms flooded a handful of towns in central pennsylvania. >> i mean, we're just a little town, but we need help. the water's up to my chest. i evaced my mom, someone in a wheelchair. >> reporter: this tow truck driver was stranded in a rising creek and was rescued by tucker fisher, who used his own truck to get the motorist. >> the truck started to go a little bit, but picked up speed and i was happy i was able to help. >> reporter: the water so powerful in some towns, it moved entire campers downstream. sheds and cars were tossed across neighborhoods and homes were too damaged for their own owners to stay the night. >> and now it's destroyed. >> reporter: in southeast pennsylvania, a rescue team

pulled a 13-year-old boy from a river where he was stranded on a pile of branches. >> oh, my god! >> reporter: ongoing rain and flooding has plagued neighboring new jersey since the weekend. residents there are trying to stay positive as they do what they can to clean up. >> you know, we'll rebuild better than ever, because that's what we are. we're new jersey people. >> reporter: local officials are asking for federal aid to help recover. officials in several counties have already declared a state of emergency. and as you mentioned, more storms are forecasted for today. they will talk to her.

direct access to the president, owing to a friendship forged with mr. trump on his hit tv show "the apprentice." >> you know i've always been a big omarosa fan, but omarosa, you're fired. >> reporter: on saturday, the president cast aside his former protege. >> low life. she's a low life. >> reporter: and continued on twitter, calling omarosa wacky and vicious, but not smart. but this is what he said in mid-december, just after omarosa left the white house. >> i like omarosa. omarosa's a good person. >> reporter: in her book, "unhinged," published by a division of cbs, omarosa claims mr. trump is a habitual liar, unfit for office, and racist, but that last claim contradicts what she said shortly after being fired. >> do you think this president is racist? >> absolutely not. i would never sit nor work for someone who i believed to be a racist. >> reporter: during their taped conversation, chief of staff kelly said there were, quote,

some serious legal issues that have been violated, unquote. whatever those were, omarosa could face other legal action for secretly recording white house conversations. major garrett, cbs news, the white house. ahead on "cbs this morning," omarosa manigault newman joins us in the studio to talk about her time at the white house and her thoughts on the president. well, the lawyer for longtime fbi agent peter strzok said he lost his job because of political pressure and for political speech protected by the first amendment. strzok's anti-trump text messages to a colleague forced his removal from the russia investigation. paula reid has more. >> reporter: peter strzok was fired more than a year after he was removed as a top investigator on the russia probe for sending text messages disparaging of then-candidate donald trump. strzok's attorney says he was dismissed on friday, even though the fbi's office of professional responsibility had recommended a

demotion and a 60-day suspension. strzok has denied that his text messages, including one that said, "we'll stop it" about mr. trump's election as president, influenced the russia investigation. >> not once in my 26 years of defending our nation did my personal opinions impact any official action i took. >> reporter: a department of justice inspector general's report released in june backed up that claim, but also said the texts were evidence of a biased state of mind. the president reacted to strzok's firing by tweeting, "finally." strzok himself set up a twitter account, writing he was deeply saddened by this decision. >> i am specifically directing you to answer the question in response -- >> reporter: strzok was the subject of a contentious hearing last month as republicans questioned his impartiality. >> i don't appreciate what was originally said being changed. i don't give a damn what you appreciate, agent strzok. >> reporter: paula reid, cbs news, washington. well, the jury in paul

manafort's tax evasion and bank fraud trial could get the case this week. prosecutors rested their case testimony. they allege the former trump campaign chairman used millions of dollars in offshore accounts to lead a lavish lifestyle. defense attorneys say the prosecution's star witness, manafort's protege, rick gates, lied when he testified he and manafort committed crimes together for years. it's unclear whether the defense will call any witnesses. and a white man who shot and killed a black man in a parking lot has been charged with manslaughter. the case has intensified the debate over florida's stand your ground law. michael drejka is being held on $100,000 bail. video shows markeis mcglockton pushing drejka outside a convenience store. drejka had confronted mcglockton's girlfriend for being parked in a handicapped space. drejka shot mcglockton in the chest. mcglockton's relatives say they are pleased with the charge.

health problems recently, and her last known performance was in november. five people at a new mexico compound are cleared for release and an investigation into a jet crash. those are some of the headlines on "the morning newsstand." "the salt lake tribune" reports on the death of a pilot who police say flew his small plane into his home. police say duane youd was an experienced pilot. youd's wife and her son were home during the crash but escaped uninjured. hours before the crash, youd was arrested for a suspected assault on his wife. his son said youd gave no indication he planned to hurt anyone. "the seattle times" looks at a security challenge at sea-tac airport after an airline worker stole and crashed a passenger jet. about 13,600 people have access to aircraft at the airport. sea-tac added extra security measures after richard russell stole a plane friday, performed aerial maneuvers and eventually crashed it on a remote island. the airport added more police

and is conducting more checks in the cargo areas. "the albuquerque journal" says five adults charged with child abuse on a new mexico compound will be free on bond as they await trial. a judge ruled yesterday that prosecutors failed to make a case to keep the defendants in custody. 11 malnourished children were found at the remote compound earlier this month. police say another boy whose body was found there died in a religious ritual ceremony. well, still ahead, google is watching you! how the tech company is reportedly tracking your location without your permission. mitzi: psoriatic arthritis tries to get in my way? watch me. huawei technologies. u.s. intelligence agencies say they are security risks, but the controls that passed congress are weaker than in earlier versions, which concerns lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. the decline of the turkish national currency sent financial shares lower and pushed the dollar higher. that hurts big u.s. exporters. so, in the end, stocks lost ground on wall street. the dow fell 125 points. the s&p 500 lost 11. and the nasdaq dropped 19 points. and lawmakers say they want to increase oversight of data collection practices of tech companies following a report that google continues to collect user location data, even when users say stop. an "associated press" report found even if users turn off location history, some google apps like maps automatically store timestamped location data without asking. google says it's been clear about how its apps work and how to turn them off. anne-marie? >> man, oh, man, big brother is always watching.

a racial slur. omarosa also admits taping conversations during her tenure in the white house.hee pr t smar defense bill named after arizona senator and former prisoner of war john mccain, but he did not mention mccain's name during the ceremony. the bill comes with a pay raise for the military, and it pays for a show of force military parade. mola lenghi reports from ft. drum. >> reporter: the ft. drum army base greeted president trump with a military exercise, then supplied the backdrop for signing a new defense bill into law. named after arizona senator john mccain, the bill provides $716 billion for the military. it increases salaries by 2.5%, and it authorizes a parade the president is planning for the fall. $22 billion goes for nuclear weapons programs, and $69 billion for u.s. war efforts. >> after years of devastating
