57 newsroom at cbs news headquaters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. jacksonville, florida police say it was a 24-year-old baltimore man that opened fire at an online video game tournament. he's accused of killing two people before taking his own life. nine others were wounded by gunfire in yesterday's shooting. police say they're not sure what prompted the attack. laura is here in new york. good morning. >> good morning, in addition to the 9 people wounded by gunfire, two others were injured trying to get away from it and a total of three people were killed. police are now searching david katz's home looking for clues as to what lead to his rampage. >> an online video appears to have captured the moment when the shooting began. it is from the madden video game tournament in jacksonville. after the gunshots people can be heard screaming as he realize

what's happening. >> everyone running for their lives. people were being trampled. people were hiding. everybody was screaming in fear. >> when the shooting stopped three people were dead including the gunmen. police identified him as david katz, a 24-year-old from marilyn. other players said katz was well-known on the competitive gaming circuit. >> he didn't speak to anybody even after we played. i beat him and went to shake his hand and tell him good game and he didn't say anything. >> they're reporting the victims are eli clayton and taylor robertson. at least one witness said katz appeared to have been targeting specific people. the police haven't confirmed that. >> i'll not be discussing any details pertaining to the motive at this time. >> federal agents were later seen at the baltimore home of the suspect's family. there's no wd what they were searching for or if any

evidence was found. ea sports which runs the madden tournament says it's focus is on e affect and on law eorcement with the investigation. the gaming giant lists katz as the 2017 winner of the competition. >> thank you so much, laura. now to the death of senator john mccain. the outpouring of respect is coming from all around the world and both sides of the political aisle. two former presidents, obama and george w. bush are expected to deliver eulogies. mccain was 81 years old when he lost his battle with cancer on saturday. here's more on his life and reaction to his death. >> reporter: arizona layed flowers and flags outside the funeral home as the political world mourned. >> it's tough. i'm going to miss him. >> republican jeff flake is from arizona.

>> i have admired him my entire life and it's tough to imagine a senate without him. it's tough to imagine politics without john mccain. >> mccain ran for president twice, served in congress for 36 years, and spent 5.5 years as a prisoner of war in vietnam. this week he'll get a hero's send off lying in state at both the arizona and u.s. capitol buildings eulogized at memorial services by former vice president joe biden and former president's obama and george w. bush. democratic leader chuck schumer proposed renaming the russell senate office building where mccain worked after him. >> and i would like decades from now little children to ask their parents, who was john mccain. >> in a statement mccain's wife cindy said my heart is broken. i'm so lucky to have lived the adventure of loving this incredible man for 38 years.

his daughter megan said he was a great fire that burned bright warmth for so long. >> we are getting nothing done, my friends. we're getting nothing done. >> it was his willingness to call out anyone and work with anyone too that earned him the nickname maverick and put him at the forefront of fights over campaign finance reform, immigration, and foreign policy. >> his voice will be missed, but his legacy in that area certainly lives on. >> there's few places mccain loved more than the sedona hills but the u.s. naval academy was one of them. he loved to remind people that he finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class and he's asked to be buried there in anapolis maryland near the grave of a long time friend. >> here's a schedule of the

tributes and remembrances for john mccain. he'll lie in state at the arizona state capitol on wednesday. funeral will be held at the north phoenix baptist church on thursday. in washington on friday mccain will lie in state at the u.s. capitol rotunda and on saturday a funeral will be held at the washington national cathedral and a private funeral will be sunday at the u.s. naval academy in maryland where john mccain will be buried. we'll speak with rick davis about the senator's legacy. pope francis says he won't say a word about claims he knew years ago against the former arch bishop of washington. it comes as the retired ambassador of the u.s. was calling on francis to step down. they come as the pope wrapped up a closely watched visit to ireland. >> reporter: it marked the end of a trip overshadowed by church scandal. pope francis asked the crowd of faithful for forgiveness saying the church failed to find

justice and truth for abuse victims. >> truth, justice, love. >> reporter: elsewhere in the city, hundreds protests what they called the church's lack of action, but the most explosive criticism launched at the pope came from inside his own ranks. sunday morning, the vatican's former ambassador to the u.s. claimed the pope knew disgraced washington cardinal was guilty of sexual abuse but still used him as an adviser. in a bombshell 11-page letter, he calls on pope francis to set an example for cardinals and bishops that covered up mccarrick's abuses and re-sign with all of them. he says he warned them in 2000. he then alleges current washington cardinal turned a

blind eye when he reentered the seminary after benedict stepped down. he had a private audience with pope francis in 2013 and told him about mccarrick's past but said the pope didn't take any action until mccarrick re-signed in june following media reports he abused a minor. >> the vatican has not responded to the letter. he didn't receive any documentation or information during his time in washington regarding any actions taken against mccarrick. >> vatican watchers say this could be politically motivated. he's a staunch critic of the pope and blames him for allowing homosexuality in the church. cbs news, dublin. north korea is accusing the united states of plotting an invasion. ident trcancelleke pompeo's trip to northorwledd pt pnorth korea says the u.s. is

the 26-year-old man was initially issued a citation fort the singer and jay-z are fine. a texas man is accused of opening fire at what he says are bad female drivers. new research casts doubt on the benefit of some daily aspirin use. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. the des moines register reports on the funeral of the university of iowa student whose body was found last week. more than a thousand people turned out to the funeral of mollie tibbetts. her father called on the the devastated community to come together to honor his daughter. an autopsy showed she died from stab wounds and a man suspected of being in the u.s. illegally is charged with her murder . eight people including six children were killed in a fire.

a house fire broke out yesterday morning. four siblings from one family and three siblings from another family died. two people were hospitalized in very critical condition. the cause of the fire is under investigation. the dallas morning news reports a texas man claims that he shoots what he calls incompetent female drivers in self-defense. 29-year-old nicholas martin was arrested after two women were shot through their car windows as they drove around the city of katy near houston. the suspect told a judge that they swerved and him and he shot to stop the threats. now court documents show that he confessed to shooting a total of six female drivers. and the boston globe reports on studies that indicate low dose aspirin does not help in preventing a first heart attack or stroke. one study looks at people at moderate risk for first heart attack or stroke because they smoked or had high blood pressure or high cholesterol. another study tested aspirin on people with diabetes.

powell is defending the central bank's push to raise interest rates. powell signalled more were to come despite criticism from president trump. on wall street the rally continues. the dow jones industrial average dropped 133 points on friday. the s&p 500 gained 15 and the nasdaq picked up points rising to record levels on friday. a deal to take the electric car maker tesla private is off. this follows confusing signals aet thi month he said that tesla was secured and tesla may go private. stock shot up 11% that day. then came word the wasn't locked down overall. now the whole deal is off. >> "crazy rich asians" topped the box office for a second week in a row. is it brought in another $25 million in ticket sales in it's second week in theaters. that's just a 6% drop from its debut weekend. keep in mind declines of close
