the gulf coast overnight and with it, came torrential downpours and destructive winds. one downed tree crashed in to a florida mobile child inside. gordan is a now a tropical depression, flooding is the biggest threat for millions as the storm moves inland. gordan didn't get much time to pick up a lot of moisture as it worked across the gulf of mexico. it moved rapidly, 15-17 miles per hour in the northwest direction. this is the lap over the past few hours what it's been doing. it hit by the mississippi, alabama border along the gulf states and currently hunkering over mississippi just five miles west of jackson and wind speeds calmed down a bit from earlier, 30 miles per hour. still gusts 40. that can do damage and the rain can do significant damage as well. we are talking several inches of rain. that's going to extend towards arkansas in to the midwest towards places like michigan.
