it tripled in size. it broke out yesterday and has already burned 15,000 acres in shasta county. it is still 0% contain. this is jackie ward. not even 24 hours and the delta fire is taking over thousands of acres in shasta county. >> 600 personnel assigned and currently actively involved in the fire suppression efforts. going direct to the fire where possible and starting containment line process. >> with flames sandwiching i-5, 45 miles are closed from north of redding to for miles south of the city of mount shasta. 17 trucks were abandoned on the stretch of road because the flames grew to close.>> i got work on the plate before we can get that containment line

completed. >> this is in an area where there is a lot of timber and brush. the perfect scenario to keep a wildfire going strong. >> topography, this area is steep burning in the canyon adjacent to the freeway. the fuel is the next factor. the fuel is very dry as it was with the other fires we've seen in northern california. >> some evacuations have been ordered, mainly campgrounds and homes and cabins. the fire has not threatened any large towns but one city is under an evacuation warning. another hot and dry day in the area with temperatures reaching the mid 90s and winds will remain mild. kpix 5. right now a 30s believe a person may have started this fire that they aren't seeing -- saying more details at this time. victims of california's two largwildfires this year have filed thousands of claims
