good morning from cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. supreme court no are now scheduled to testify at a senate hearing this thursday, but now a second wap is accusing him of sexual misconduct back when he was a student at yale. laura podesta is here with the details. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. several senate democrats are calling on kavanaugh to withdraw his nomination now that a second woman has come forward, and there could be a third accusation in the works. a second woman has come forward alleging sexual misconduct by supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh. debra ramirez tells "the new yorker" thms to her during a drinking game at freshman at the yale university. kavanaugh told the magazine the incident did not happen and the allegation is a smear, plain and

simple. >> not only judge kavanaugh but certainly dr. ford deserve a fair hearing. >> the article was published hours after the senate judiciary agreed to a thursday morning hearing for kavanaugh and christine blasey ford, the first woman to accuse him of sexual misconduct. republican senator lindsey graham said there is little ford could say to change his yes vote on kavanaugh. >> i'm just being honest. unless there's something more, no, i'm not going to ruin judge kavanaugh's life over this. >> reporter: democrats are concerned this won't be a fair hearing. >> the way the senate republicans have now set this up that is what we're going to have, do you believe her or do you believe him? that is exactly why we have been pressing for an fbi investigation that should only take a few days. so there are other facts out there. >> reporter: last night stormy daniels's lawyer michael avenatti tweeted that he represents another woman with credible information regarding judge kavanaugh but did not provide details.

nonproliver rage of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons. bill cosby's sentencing hearing begins today in a courtroom near philadelphia. it's the final act in a case that began some three years ago. more than 60 women came forward to accuse cosby of sexual misconduct. he faces up to 30 years behind bars. jericka duncan reports. >> reporter: 81-year-old cosby is set to return to the courthouse in north town, pennsylvania. the man once known as america's dad was convicted in april of drugging and molesting andrea constand at his philadelphia home in 2004. constand is a former temp university administrator. his sentencing hearing is expected to last two days with constand likely to give an impact statement. the judge could sentence cosby to as many as ten years in prison for each of three counts he was convicted, but cosby's lawyers are expected to plead to keep the entertainer at home because of his age and health problems. his criminal case began nearly three years ago at the end of

the 2015. the county's district attorney's office reopened the sexual assault case against cosby just days before the statute of limitations ran out. prosecutors charged cosby with aggravated indecent assault for drugging and sexually assaulting constand. at the first trial in june of 2017, dozens of cosby's alleged victims from across the country attended in support of constand. but after more than 50 hours of deliberations, the first jury could not reach a verdict resulting in a mistrial. but nearly one year later the second trial ended with a conviction. over last several years, more than 60 women have accused bill cosby of sexual misconduct, but cosby insists he is innocent of all allegations. jericka duncan, cbs news, north town, pennsylvania. scattered thunderstorms are expected today in eastern south carolina where coastal residents face still more rising waters in the wake of hurricane florence

if the in conway, floodwaters have already engulfed an entire community. up to ten feet of flooding is expected when the waccamaw and pd rivers crest possibly tomorrow. area residents have been urged to evacuate. in north carolina, receding floodwaters on a stretch of interstate left thousands of rotting fish. they used hoses to wash them off the roadway. five rivers remain at major flood stage. tiger woods says his first win on the pga tour in five years is surreal. wearing his sunday red shirt woods won the tour champion, collected a $1.6 million purse and sent his fans into a frenzy. tiger mania is back. following years of physical and other seventibacks, he wasn't sure this day would come. meg oliver has more. >> reporter: a tap-in on the final hole clinched the victory for tiger woods on sunday and set off a celebration that had

been a long time in the making. the tour championship win was the 80th of his illustrious career. number 79 came over five years ago way back in august of 2013. since then, woods has struggled with a variety of injuries. he's undergone at least four surgeries on his back. sfeen months ago had he an operation to fuse two vertebrae in his lower back. his comeback was also slowed by scandal. woods was arrested in may of 2017 after being found asleep of the wheel of his car. toxicology tests showed he had five drugs in hipainkis,nd pairp medications. on sunday, woods admitted that he got emotional as he waited to putt on the final green. he later told an interviewer, quote, i can't believe i pulled this off. >> just to be able to compete and play again this year, that's a hell of of a comeback. >> reporter: meg oliver, cbs

on the morning news stand. usa today reports immigration advocates are vowing to fight the trump administration's plan to clamp down on restrictions of immigrants applying for green cards or visas. a proposal unveiled by the administration over the weekend would enforce rules for immigrant's use of food stamps, welfare, housing vouchers and medicaid. they say those seeking to immigrate to the u.s. must show they can support themselves financially. the owner of a texas company that sells plans to make untraceable 3d printed guns is out on bond. he was arrested in taiwan on friday and extradited back to the u.s. to face sex abuse charges. they say he exchanged naked pictures with a 16-year-old girl he met online and paid her $500 for sex at a hotel in austin. he posted a bond and left jail sunday.

time magazine reports an indiana school bus driver was arrested for allegedly allowing students to drive. >> okay, okay. first, we got do is put your foot on the break. >> video shows 27-year-old mccaddie teaching a child how to drive a bus last week. now authorities say she allowed three students age 11, 13, and 17 to drive the bus with other kids on board. she was arrested and charged with felony child neglect. she was also fired by the school district and the school bus operator. the hong kong free press says there were mixed reactions on the first day of the high speed railway connecting hong kong to china. some trains are running late. the 16 mile rail link cost about $10 billion and more than eight years to build. it makes the trip from hong kong to china in about 14 minutes, down from about an hour. passengers crossing the border

here's a look at today's forecast in some cities around the country. on "cbs moneywatch," ratcheting up the trade war with china, and congress might require more legroom on planes. diane king hall is here with that and more. good morning, diane. >> good morning. the united states and china imposed a new round of tariffs this morning. china accused the u.s. of engaging in, quote, trade bullyism. the u.s. imposed import taxes on $200 billion worth of chinese goods. china tact $60 billion worth of u.s. products on top of import tax imposed on $50 billion worth of each other's goods earlier this year.

economists warn it will hurt both economies. talks last month produced no progress. china canceled mid level trade talks with the u.s. and no others have been set. saudi arabia ruled out any increase in production of oil. the benchmark price reached $80 a barrel mainly to a decline in oil exports. last week president trump demanded that opec take action on oil supply levels. stock finished mixed on friday. the dow closed at its second all-time high, up 86 points. the s&p fell a point. and the nasdaq dropped 41. you may have noticed airline seats are getting smaller and smaller and now congress is laing o step in. require the federal aviation set new minimum seat requirements on airplanes. regulation of seat width and legroom is part of a five-year extension of a federal aviation ogram agre to by congressional leaders.

catholic church and china on the appointment of bishops. here's more from rome. >> reporter: the vatican sees china 1.4 billion people as a land rich for evangelization. the country's estimated 12 million catholics have historically been split. one branch in churches recognize and controlled by the officially atheist chinese government, the others in underground or secret churches loyal to the pope. previously each side had appointed their own bishops. for the first time now they've announc announced they'd appoint those church leaders together. how that would work and how much power the pope would have is not yet clear. it has been reported the pope may have veto power. ahead of this weekend's announcement, this father expressed concerns about allowing china to control the candidates for bishops potentially putting politics above faith. >> so they could -- they could
