walking into the saudi consulate around 11:00 a.m. october 2nd, two hours before jamal khashoggi entered the building, and then lost his life. later, the same man apparently emerges from the consulate dressed in khashoggi's clothes apart from the shoes. an attempt it seems, to cover up khashoggi's death by pretending that he left the building unharmed. turkey's ruling party said that what happened to jamal khashoggi was, quote, planned in a bloodthirsty manner, directly contradicting the saudi version of events that khashoggi died apparently accidentally after getting into a fight inside the saudi consulate. turkish police also found this car reportedly registered to the saudi consulate hbut abandoned n an underground parking lot. there's widespread skepticism about the saudi story, and no kh endup. them whe

anne-marie. yes, this caravan is being used as a political pawn as midterms approach. a new cbs news poll finds that in key battleground x ten vote immigration is a very important factor in who they'll support on election day. last night president trump railed against the caravan in a warning for countries that have not helped stop the group's advance. >> this will be the election of the caravan -- >> reporter: two weeks before the midterm elections, president trump is rallying republican voters by attacking a caravan of migrants in southern mexico. he called it an assault on the u.s. at a campaign stop in texas for senator ted cruz last night. >> in that caravan, you have some very bad people. and we can't let that happen to our country. >> reporter: earlier in the day, the president threatened to cut aid to guatemala, honduras, and el salvador for letting the migrants leave. he warned without evidence is dangers within the group.

>> you're going to find ms13, middle eastern, you're going to find everything. >> reporter: the united nations says more than 7,000 people are traveling north, and that number is expected to rise. the caravan is still more than 1,000 miles from the u.s. border. "if we travel alone," it's dangerous, says this 17-year-old. "in a group we feel safe, so when it started, i joined, and it kept going." former president obama was also on the campaign trail yesterday. without mentioning donald trump, he slammed republicans for using immigration to stoke fear. >> they exploit some of the history that we have in this country of racial and ethnic and religious divisions. >> reporter: a caravan earlier this year shrank significantly as it moved through mexico. out of 1,200 migrants, only about 200 reached the california border. and at its current pace, the caravan would reach the u.s.

border in about a month and a half. anne-marie? >> laura podesta in new york, thanks a lot. the associated press says its reporters traveling with the caravan have not come across any of the middle easterners the president suggests are involved. as adriana diaz reports, the migrants are walking or hitching a ride when they can as their journey moves forward. >> reporter: this is a stop on a punishing journey to the u.s. border, and it's still just the beginning. migrants from honduras, guatemala, and el salvador continue to make their way north, fleeing poverty, persecution, and gang violence. the caravan now includes an estimated 7,200 migrants, and more are expected to join, potentially pushing the number past 10,000. they started their journey in honduras, continued through guatemala and into southern mexico. they're nearly 1,000 miles from the nearest u.s. border

crossing. a similar exodus in april with border. 250 applied for asylum. only three so far have received it. you're only wearing sandals -- battling 100-degree heat and exhaustion in thin soles, jessica flores brought her strongest child with her and left four others in honduras. what's it like for a mother to leave her children? she says the farther she goes, the harder it is to know that her children are farther away from her. the migrants continue toward the border, in open defiance of the u.s. government. the u.s. embassy released this video urging people to turn back or face detention. but the caravan is rumbling forward. we first saw the caravan reach the first major city in mexico.

hydrogen peroxide that goes below the tooth's surface fo coattic whe. wnior a museum is admitting some of its dead sea scrolls are fake, and an investigation at the home of george soros. those are some of the hepatitis on the "morning newsstand." the fbi is investigating an explosive device near the home of billionaire philanthropist george soros. the device was found yesterday afternoon by someone who works at his home. that's about 40 miles north of new york city. officials say that the bomb squad detonated it. soros wasn't home at the time. the onetime hedge fund trader has donated heavily to liberal causes. the "austin american statesman" reports that people before drinking or cooking with

it. recent flooding has filled lakes that supply the water with silt, mud, and debris. officials say the water needs extended filtration and treatment before it is safe to consume. they're also urging residents to cut back on the amount of water they use. people have flocked to stores to buy bottled water which has led to a shortage. "the san francisco chronicle" says a northern california judge upheld a jury's verdict that monsanto's popular roundup caused a groundskeeper's cancer. the judge cut the award to million. that's down from $289 million. the judge earlier said it appeared jurors overreacted with the amount of money they awarded in punitive damages. the groundskeeper, dwayne johnson, can accept the reduced amount or demand a new trial. monsanto said it's pleased with the reduced reward but still wants to appeal the verdict. the "washington post" rt the bible in washington, d.c., admits that some of its dead sea scrolls are

through congress saying a vote would happen after the midterm elections. the president says he's looking to cut taxes for the middle class, about 10%. the tax cut bill he signed last year benefited high earners and corporations. the high-profile saudi conference begins under a cloud. last year the event attracted global business elites, hundreds of bankers, and executives. many are expected to attend what's been called the future investment initiative. but because of the outcry over the killing of journalist jamal khashoggi, some two dozen top speakers including treasury secretary steven mnuchin have opted out. meantime, netflix plans to borrow another $2 billion to help pay for its original programming. the move is not a surprise. next flicks says its original series like "house of rds the reason it signed up millions of new subscribers the past five years. the video-streaming service has spent more than it's taken in
