of the most vulnerable. and today president trump will be briefed on the murder of journalist jamal khashoggi, what he called one of the worst coverups inistory. goodornino 57 newsroom at cbs headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. there was at least one grand prize winning ticket in last night's record 1.6 billion mega millions lottery jackpot. it was sold somewhere in south carolina, that's according to the south carolina lottery website. the winning numbers are 5, 28, 62, 65, 70, and the mega ball 5. the odds for matching all numbers were 1,301.5 million. there had not been a mega millions jackpot winner since july. it's played in four states. tonight's power ball jackpot sits at 620 million. this morning the caravan of

central american migrants is in southern mexico about a thousand miles from reaching the u.s. about 7,000 men, women, and children are battling a lack of supplies, exhaustion, heat and cold. bking off his claim that people of middle eastern descent was part of the group. good morning, laura. >> reporter: the caravan is expected to move to the next town today, another 38 miles into mexico. it's clearly a slow migration, but president trump continues to make the caravan an urgent rallying cry for republicans ahead of the midterms. less than 50 miles into mexico and more than 1,000 miles from the u.s. border, the caravan paused yesterday. some got medical care, others found fresh clothes, and children filled up on food. donated by local residents.

>> reporter: but once again, he stressed the importance of the u.s./saudi relationship. >> i want to see the facts first. th've en one of the biest >> reporter: he was responding to turkey's president, erdogan, who contradicted the story that jamal khashoggi was killed in a quote, savage murder and demanding the 18 suspects arrested be brought to turkey and put on trial. what president erdogan did not mention is a widely reported audio recording that turkish officials allegedly possess of jamal khashoggi being tortured and killed inside the saudi arabia consulate. we still do not know if that recording actually exists. saudi arabia is scrambling to carry out damage control.

accident. news day reports police say a public defen was murdered while on vacation in turks and caicos. local place say 62-year-old marie kuhnla was reported missing on october 15th. her body was found the next day in the bushes near the club med resort where she was staying. in january, they issued a warning about traveling to turks and caicos because of violent crime. the salt lake tribune reports coaches, teammates and friends are remembering a university of utah track star. they say she was shot and killed on campus monday night by her former boyfriend melvin rowland. he later killed himself at a church where police tracked him down. mccluskey broke up with rowland after she learned he was a sex offender. a vigil will be held for her tonight. and they ordered personal documents seized from sandy hook

grew by 3.3% during the third quarter. it expanded 4.2% in the second quarter. wall street rallied late in the day to partially make up big early losses. at one point the dow was down nearly 550 points. blame that on caterpillar slumping 7.6% after saying tariffs on imported steel were driving up costs. in the end, the dow lost 125, s&p fell 15, and the nasdaq finished 31 points lower. on the flip side, tesla rallied more than 12.5% after an investment company that had been betting against tesla reversed its position. research said that tesla's destroying the competition, and today after the close of trading tesla released its third quarter earnings. the company to post a net profit. one sign the u.s. economy is improving, more americans have bank accounts.

less than two weeks away and women could play a key role in the outcome. the me too movement is energizing women from both political parties to make a difference by volunteering. ileana diaz reports. >> reporter: this is the first time they filled all 51 seats on this democratic campaign bus to canvass neighborhoods. she credits the me too movement for motivating a new wave of volunteers. the majority of them are women. >> people have been feeling an. >> reporter: lorin ruttenberg is a volunteer. she's in a republican district 60 miles north of los angeles. >> do you know who you'll be supporting in the election? >> no, i haven't -- >> reporter: the goal is to increase voter turnout and target those on the fence.
