growing. investigators are scrambling to find out who is responsible before one of these explodes. >> good afternoon. >> the intended recipients include president obama, joe biden, secretary of state, hillary clinton. john brennan, eric holder and george soros. >> hillary lane is in lower manhattan where an actor was a target. >> the package that was addressed to robert de niro was sent to his production company. it is right behind me. he is the first actor to receive a package. the fbi continues their investigation. >> the bomb squad transported a suspicious package this morning that was addressed to robert de niro at his production company. authorities say two devices

were intercepted in delaware before they could reach former vice president, joe biden. the packages are similar to other devices found in four states and washington -- and washington dc. most were sent to high profile democrats including former president, barack obama and presidential candidate, hillary clinton. late last night law enforcement uncovered another package at a postal facility in los angeles, one of two addressed to maxine waters. >> we have a big zone over here. >> reporter: they are asking people to be vigilant. it is likely more explosive devices will service before a suspect is caught. a bomb was also mailed to the new york headquarters of cnn prompting a massive evacuation. it is scary that we don't know exactly when these packages are coming from.>> reporter: in wisconsin president trump called for unity and blamed the media for the discourse. sarah sanders double down this morning.

>> there is a negative tone, 90% of the media attention around the president is negative.>> reporter: president trump promises and investigation. there were six forever stamps on each package in a manila envelope. they will be analyzed at the fbi center in quantico, virginia. the u.s. postal service has beefed up security. in lower manhattan, hiller -- hillary lane. a very big part of the anger we see in our society is caused by inaccurate reporting of the mainstream media. there was a statement released condemning the white house

rhetoric saying there is a total and complete lack of understanding at the white house about the seriousness of their continued attacks on the media. the president and the white house press secretary should understand, their words matter.>> they are boosting canine units of. there have been no specific threats made. the director is hearing about new high-tech surveillance technology including new digital closed circuit cameras and 95 video monitors to give riders an added sense of security. >> the purpose of this is to bribe -- is to provide visible evidence that bart stations are under constant surveillance. >> the improvements would cost more than $12 million. a prototype system would be installed and tested at the civic center station if approved. canine units where the center of attention at the airport this morning in light of the pipe bombs recently

the tsa says it takes every instance like this seriously. it doesn't change the canine day-to-day jobs. >> our officers are briefed on any emerging threat. we always have a heightened sense for that. obviously, we would be aware of that. that is why this type of resource that we have with us is so important to have them working. >> we are aware of the events going on. these dogs come out here every day. they will be as vigilant as possible. it will not change. >> the tsa has more than 320 passenger screening canines working in airports throughout the company -- country. >> reporter: this is their office. if you see one at the airport, do not pet them. >> explosives are the greatest threat to our country's aviation system according to the tsa. a live look in mexico where

migrants are making their way to the us border. the caravan has stopped in mexico here. you can see a lot of families here in their children resting. some estimates say there are 7000 migrants making their way to the us border. they are about 1000 miles away from the border. jim mattis is expected to sign an order to send 800 troops to the us- mexico border. the officials say additional troops will provide support to border patrol. president trump said he would bring military reinforcements to the border of what he calls a national emergency. he is talking about thousands of migrants who are making their way to the us from central american -- america. >> a guilty verdict for a san jose man charged with killing both of his parents. the 24-year-old has been

charged with murder in the first degree. today's decision by the jury was unanimous. police say he shot and killed his parents in their evergreen home two years ago. a sentencing date is november 16. his brother was also arrested but charges were dropped. know wall street is rebounding after heavy losses. as we take a look at the dow we see how it is doing. a big rebounded today. up more than 460 points. a hefty fine for facebook. regulators slapped them with $644,000. the defunct data firm used information from users for the trump campaign. chevron will spend $150 million to make safety improvements stemming from the disastrous fire at the refinery in richmond. the fire and chemical leak forced 15,000 people to shelter in place in august 2012. they are accused of violating the clean air act. under a

settlement chevron will pay $150 million and $3 million in fines and 10 million for environmental projects. >> 12 days until the midterm elections. supporters of prop 10 are holding a rally to gather support for rent control.>> a grassroots group including members of the naacp and faith leaders are campaigning. they blame migration across the bay and soaring rents for forcing people out of homes and onto the streets. >> people have left san francisco and come here where they can afford to pay high rent and then the people that have been here historically are now having to vacate the places that i have grown up in. >> opponents, retailers -- realtors. they say this will make the

housing crisis worse. like you we have you covered up -- on all the state races. crews in oakland are out right now repairing a broken water main. this is that harold and champion streets. authorities say the cast-iron pipe broke out about 7 pm. the water is back one. all lanes are back open this afternoon after this tanker truck caught fire. it happened just after 1 am. work crew say no one was hurt and no word on what started the fire. for city officials announced a new program to fight homelessness and keep the streets clean. the city funded program will allow homeless to be paid to pick up trash.

so we've got this wildland urban interface area. we all love our parks and the best way to keep them healthy is to come in and manage them. hi my name is eileen theile. i'm acting fire chief for east bay regional park district's fire department. what keeps me up at night is that people have a short memory. they'll forget the oakland hills firestorm that happened in 1991. we lost well over 2000 homes, 26 people lost their lives, we really need to stay vigilant especially with climate change. this area, california, is a fire prone landscape. the one thing that we can control is the fuels. east bay regional regional park district partners with pg&e to annually thin or remove more than 1000 acres of hazardous vegetation. pg&e is accelerating its wildfire risk reduction program, pruning around overhead electrical lines, reducing the fuel loads underneath those electrical lines to help reduce the spread of wildfire. what we're really doing is making the property

just into the news room, park ranger sake two visitors fell to their deaths in yosemite national park burke they are trying to recover bodies right now. the man and woman fell. the incident is under investigation. saudi arabia says the killing of jamal khashoggi was premeditated. that is according to the saudi foreign minister after tweeting it has received new evidence from turkish officials. this is the third time they have changed or asked --

explanation into what happened. they initially said they had nothing to do with jamal khashoggi's appearance. >> every public library and ymca across the country maybe soon equipped with free nor cam. the company says it will provide two doses of the nasal spray to more than 16,000 facilities. it offers free doses to high schools and colleges. overdoses kill an estimated 115 americans every day. new video shows one of the tallest freestanding climbing walls of the world. at this, it is curved. it is called excalibur. you can see in this drone footage climbers tackling this dour. officials say the climbing wall is over 121 feet high. thrill seekers can check it out in the netherlands. because of the 36 foot curve build into the design, the tower rises into the clouds and forms an extreme overhang.

if you have walked around san francisco you have probably seen homeless people living on the streets with their pets. the jefferson award winners this week decided he could do something to help. >> they are loving. >> -- >> reporter: to this homeless woman and her dogs paul has been a st. francis.

this woman has been living in her car. >> he is a blessing. we can't afford dog food and everything. >> reporter: it is not just cindy and her pets that he helps. there is not a homeless dog that he won't feed.>> every weekend for the last five years he has dodged cars. for he makes friends with owners who live without permanent homes. he says he has that about 200 dogs. >> they are needy. there's something really sweet about them. go back in his one-room apartment, one ton of dog food is stored. he gives out 200 pounds weekly. he saw how much throat -- food was being thrown out. i started collecting that food, bagging it up and bringing it to the camp. >> when his employer did not allow him to take it home for free, paul took out his phone.

he snapped pictures of every ducky fed, posted those online and project open paul was born. a wish list keep this nonprofit going. he helps homeless pets with that care needs. jules had intestinal surgery at the house. >> her intestines were sticking out. i grabbed her from her mother, got her taken care of. >> reporter: paul makes his deliveries on foot. he wants to open a homeless facility for homeless dogs and their owners. for now, cindy says she is grateful he is here. >> he understands. >> reporter: for helping homeless dogs and their owners, this week's award goes to paul.
