police in florida arrested a man accused of sending these packages. thank you for joining us. i am kenny choi. >> i am michelle griego. authorities intercepted the latest suspicious package at a male facility at rawlings road. jackie ward just arrived at the scene. >> reporter: this is a very industrial area. this postal center behind me is relatively new. this is a lot calmer than when we first got here about an hour ago. starting around 10:30 reports of a suspicious package here at the priority mail postal facility. possibly explosive thanks to an early cnn report. soon after that, we can see postal workers being escorted out of the building and officers from various law enforcement agencies, including the police department and the f.b.i. federal agents dressed in bomb suits were able to successfully and safely remove the device. we got here just before 11:30. as we arrived, several officers asked us to step back for our safety,

eight cars marked and unmarked, including some from atf quickly pulled out of the parking lot and sped towards the freeway. it appears they went to the explosive detonation site. the f.b.i. office tweeted that they have explosive technicians on scene but there is no immediate threat to the public which is why we are able to get so close to the facility. the package was addressed to tom stier, a trump critic and billionaire hedge fund manager. we are seeing a systematic attack on our democracy. our rule of law that extends much further than just one isolated terrorist in florida. time for the republican party to denounce any attacks on the rights and dignity of any american and began on working on building the broadest and -- minutes ago we spoke to a postal spokesperson who said that these postal workers who work in this office were trained to look for certain things that come to the mall, given the recent events.

earlier this morning, dozens of police officers responded after a postal worker was sorting through the mail and saw a suspicious package that looked similar to the others and immediately dialed 911. hillary lane, kpix 5. >> we know the suspect has a criminal history and faces 58 years in prison. we asked our security analyst if they can piece together a bio on the suspect based on the evidence they have contained so far. >> they will process that as part of the crime scene. they would take it away as a precautionary measure. they would take it to a facility where they can look through it, they can dissect it, they can look for evidence of other packages that may be out there. i am sure they are trying to determine whether there is other people involved you'd basically they have come out and said it appears this is a lone wolf situation. you never know though. someone could have helped him. it doesn't take a lot of people to mail
