>> carter: 44 on the board for notre dame, officially a navy home game even though we are in san diego. so the last three road game for notre dame confined, 125 points, at wake forest, at virginia tech with a huge second half, and now in san diego but at navy. 1:45 and three road games. >> rick: aaron told me there is no such thing as a road game for notre dame. [laughter] >> rick: dom asked me to look at the stadium, look at all the green. >> carter: like a rock band. >> aaron: if you want to win back the road game, you got to run the football and play defense. a lot of good happen for the irish, and there are some correctable things that coach kelly will have some things to fix. all phases of the squad. this is what you want to do, this is a win that is not an easy one, you come on the road,

this will be a tough haul down the stretch for the irish. they got it done tonight. >> carter: in the books now, 8-0. 44-22. the first trip to the golden state, successful for brian kelly and notre dame, 8-0 for the first time since they played in the title game in 2012. and the 92nd consecutive meeting between notre dame and navy is in the books in favor of the fighting irish. it was the three touchdown runs in the first half from dexter williams and the two touchdown grabs in the second half from miles boykin that carried the day. we are staying for both alma mater's. notre dame and navy blue and gold. >> aaron: how about the incredible day running the football by notre dame, 254 yards on the ground? narrowly getting out rushed by navy, who only had 292.

notre dame defensively, keeping navy underneath there i rushing average. nice job all in all by the iris irish. >> rick: ian book has been unbelievable since taking over as a starting quarterback for a 27 for 34, two touchdowns, i know he wants it interception back. a week ago, 26 for 32, 70%, now closer to 75% passer. you can do a lot of things as a play caller when you can trust that quarterback as much as you can trust ian book right now. >> carter: and for navy, it is a five-game losing streak. per tradition, the fighting irish and to the will gather in front of the midshipmen with a wonderful round of applause from all those of the 63,000 plus sellout crowd who await.

live from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix 5 news. >> a very horrific crime scene. one of the worst i have seen. >> 11 people killed, six others injured including four officers and a mass shooting in pittsburgh, pennsylvania after he gunman opens fire inside of a synagogue, good evening. >> police say the suspected gunman 46-year-old robert bowers stormed into the synagogue during a baby naming ceremony and screamed all jews must die.'s work is being investigated as a hate crime, nikki battiste is in pittsburgh tonight. >> swat teams converging on a synagogue with a dire warning over the police radio. >> we are under fire.

he has an automatic weapon. >> 46-year-old robert bowers went on a shooting rampage during morning prayer services. >> members of the tree of life synagogue conducting a peaceful service in their place of worship were brutally murdered by gunman targeting them simply because of their faith. >> bowers exchanging fire with officers before being arrested and taken to the hospital. >> he is in fair condition. >> police recovered an assault rifle and three handguns. >> a very horrific crime scene. one of the worst i have seen and i have been on some plane crashes. >> authorities would not comment on a possible motive but cbs news confirms the suspect made anti-semitic threats on social media in the days before the attack. president trump condemning the attack in indiana. >> this wicked act of mass murder is pure evil.

hard to believe. >> earlier the president suggested an armed guard may have prevented the massacre. >> if they had some kind of protection inside the temple, maybe it could've been a much different situation. >> not far from the shooting community members gathered saturday night to honor the victims. the fbi is investigating the shooting as a hate crime, nikki battiste, cbs news, pittsburgh. >> there were no children hurt in the attack, tonight prosecutors have charged bowers with 29 charges including using a firearm to commit murder. investigators are going over social media accounts including one from a website called gab which is popular with far right extremists, one photo attributed to the gab account shows a row of shooting targets and in another bowers shows a gun collection, what he calls his glock family.

the final post on the profile came five minutes before police were first called to the scene. the post complained about a jewish organization for refugees and ended with the words i'm going in. back in the bay area police departments have stepped up patrols near synagogues. we are getting reaction from political leaders including bernie sanders who was in the bay area today. >> a police car parked outside of san francisco's congregation emanuel, the visual presence providing relief for members of the synagogue. >> showing up as part of the community is active resistance. i will not not come to my synagogue. >> congregants are saddened and outraged by the shooting in pittsburgh. >> what happened to kindness and working together? it is just devastating.>> rabbi jonathan singer says the security guard and metal detector have been in place for

5' and may be driving through california in an attempt to get to mexico. esmeralda lopez drives a red chevy cobalt with a washington plate with the following tag. anyone who sees the suspect, child or car is asked to call 911. two women are injured after a balcony collapsed in san francisco just after midnight in the outer sunset neighborhood. near lawton street and 26th avenue. the women were on their third- floor balcony when the structure gave way and crashed onto the sidewalk. the women were rushed to san francisco general hospital. no word on the condition. details on the man accused of sending pipe bombs to prominent democrats. 56-year-old cesar sayoc was arrested yesterday in south florida. he sometimes worked as a dj and bouncer at a strip club in west palm beach, he reportedly was

playing music sets at the club hours before his arrest. he was living out of a white van after he was kicked out of his parents condominium. investigators believe the van plastered with pro trump stickers is where he made the bombs. authorities found soldering equipment and powder inside plus stamps, envelopes and a printer. at least 14 explosive devices were mailed to talk democrats and liberal leaders including hillary clinton and former attorney general eric holder as well as senator, harris and tom steyer. none of the bombs went off, the package addressed to tom steyer showed up yesterday at a postal distribution center in burlingame, the building was evacuated and the bomb squad put the device in a truck and took it to a disposal center near sfo. an attorney for the family of cesar sayoc says relatives urged him to seek mental

health treatment. >> he is a sick individual and does not seem to recognize reality. he lives in a fantasy world. >> he now faces federal charges facing 40 years in prison. a woman accused of stealing an engagement ring is behind bars tonight. karen cotton was arrested today, earlier this month she stole a backpack at a restaurant in san leandro that belonged to an 18- year-old employee who had a diamond engagement ring, cash and other valuables inside of it. the total loss is estimated at $1500. detectives try to recover the ring but the suspect refused. coming up, thieves takeoff with a family's u-haul truck in oakland and tonight the robbery was caught on camera. a dear caught in a very sticky situation when ito a clinic. smooth sailing with the weather for while and then fire

new video of a u-haul trailer being stolen in oakland with a family's possessions inside. they packed up for a move to southern california and late today the truck turned up following a crash. while the truck has been found some items are missing and the thieves is on the loose. >> the stolen u-haul truck ended up here on pearl street, been able to one-way road open the truck to see what is left inside. the bold robbery was clearly caught on surveillance video. you can see the man approached the truck and then call his cell phone. than his two-year-old daughter enters the picture, with the

young girl standing next to him he bangs on the window and shortly after the thief drives away. >> every 30 minutes we are thinking that is in the car, we had to keep coming back. at least we are not in the hospital, we are life. >> this happened around noon on friday. more than 24 hours later the family got the call that the truck was found. adrian minor was able to peek inside and noticed some stuff was gone, they are hoping that the did not take one of the family's most treasured possessions. >> the first thing my wife thought was we got our stuff stolen but we thought that is in there. it is an urn. >> the suspect was able to get away before police arrived. the family hopes this story spares other families from

going through a similar experience. if you see anything in the video that could help solve e i police from oakland, kpix 5. there is no video of a trespasser raking into a clinic tonight but the trespasser only obeys the laws of nature. the suspect is a deer. police in arkansas arrived on scene but did not expect to see this. a deer startled as it tries to find a way out of the clinic, eventually it found a way out, getting out the front door. in true halloween spirit dozens of dogs and their owners dressed to impress in oakland today for the fourth annual celebration that is a free event with activities like painting and pet pampering, even a pet psychic. most people came for the costumes. >> it is a nice day so we brought her outfits and costumes. i said let's go join the fun.>>
