walker who is live in brisbane. of of the latest. >> reporter: about 10 hours and something started burning in this building. as you can see, there is still smoldering going on. if you go to the neighborhood just downwind, you can certainly smell it.>> this was exclusively construction debris that comes in in mid -- in big metal boxes. >> two by fours and 4 x 4 started burning this morning drawing a response from several fire departments. >> the fired -- the fire department was here quickly. they had a major hose on it quickly. what you see now is steam from that water. >> there has in a good bit of smoke. they are quality management department has looked at it.

it is still going pretty good. >> it's little hollywood. it is coming this way. >> you can barely breathe. >> they don't know what started the fire. it was extinguished. there trying to get this building emptied out so they can start cleaning up. we need to get outside, get it wet, get the fire so we know short -- for sure it is out. >> the building is built to withstand something like this. they don't think there is any structural damage. it is not altered their day-to- school, there downwind of this. there watching the air. they don't think anything has it unhealthy levels.

he is challenging cox for the governor see. both will be in southern california tonight to watch the returns. there are key propositions on the ballot. >> it is bringing in record numbers across the bay area. jackie ward shows us how counties are making it easier than ever to cast your vote. >> let's start in san francisco. the voting center has been open since october 9. this is what is going on there now. finding a place to park is your excuse so you can't use that this year. you can drop off your ballot without leaving your car. we went across to -- the area to see how voter participation was shaping up. >> a record-setting election with 887,000 registered voters and a quarter million ballots returned as of monday. these numbers are indications how overall turnout will be. we hope to hit a high record.

campaign. they were encouraged to leave school to cast ballots today. young people plan to participate in this effort. university study estimates that 40% of people will vote who are under 30 years old. 43% of young republicans are definitely voting. the most diverse group of candidates in us history. female congressional candidates has increased since 2012 and women of color have increased by 75%. the face of government could change in other ways. educators are vying for seats. and on precedented -- an unprecedented number of veterans are running.

this is a live look at city hall. we are learning more about a man who was fatally shot at a detox center. the 52-year-old was killed in yesterday's shooting at the detox center. to others were also shot. police say this is the suspect, 37-year-old, he is a transient and gave officers information that tied him to the shooting. investigators say the shooting happened when his girlfriend took him to the center for treatment work she is in the hospital along with one employee who was shot in the head. read will be arraigned today in sonoma county. for time for check on the big bore. the dow is up this election day, tuesday. it's up more than 100 points. next year it will be more
