john cox, 59-41%. the lieutenant governor january and this is the first time since 1887 that a democrat governor has been succeeded by another democrat in california. senator diane feinstein is celebrating victory, she defeated her opponent 54-46%. california voters shot down prop six, the repeal of the gas tax increase that tax generates about $5 billion a year to fund road improvement projects and transportation funding. voters rejected a rent control, would have repealed the state law which restricts the government use of rent control. that fell by 60 to 40%. voters pass prop seven to stay on daylight savings time year round, that still needs two-thirds vote from the legislature and approve from congress. in san francisco, voters

passed a measure to tax companies to address the homelessness crisis, prop c passed with 60% of the vote, the city estimates that the measure will add 250 to $300 million a year to the homeless services budget. the san francisco mayor asheeathat the voters d ca up w have spoken and there is no doubt that we all want to -- address this issue, we want to see funding happen for helping people who sadly are struggling on our seats, it is also about identifying location, identifying through the process to make sure that we're able to provide the capacity to meet the need. >> prop c required a civil majority to pass, opponents are likely to challenge that in court. they say it should have needed 2/3 of the vote which california law requires for some local tax increases. oakland mayor libby shaft

won a second turn by carrying 56% of the vote. shaft says she'll spend the first few hours of her second term tackling the city's homeless and illegal dumping issues. >> santa clara county from being able to report final participation numbers, an estimated 52% have been counted but a lack of technology is making this process a slow one. >> ballot counters here worked through the night counting hundreds of thousands of ballots and still hundreds of thousands left to count. ballots from across the county came to this building to be sorted. this is hopefully the last election where that's thcase. santa clara county is, whoing on getting new technology in place by 2020 tohelpe the burden of workers. >> we're in an rfp process to

jose, santa rosa at 73 a chilly start across the north bay this morning. i want to talk about the drought monitor and we're a nor conditions for the bay area but our moderate drought for northeast napa, east mendasino, the last time we saw rain early october, it does not knock like we'll see rain anytime soon. in california, moderate to severe even drought there and we're looking at dry conditions across the entire state as this ridge of high pressure remains in control. we have this trough of low pressure riding the top of that ridge and with that, as it pushes east we're going to see offshore winds and that's why we have that high fire danger expected beginning tonight through tomorrow and into friday morning. future cast to show you, dry conditions we'll see plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures above average for this time of
