morning." from the broadcast center in new york city, i'm jericka duncan. it's thursday, november 29, 2018. this is the "cbs morning news." tensions are high in argentina as world leaders arrive for the g-20 summit. president trump is heading there today. and saudi arabia faces new pressure over the war in yemen amid continued fallout in the murder of jamal khashoggi. president trump may be dropping hints that paul manafort may get a presidential pardon. also, what the president told investigators in the russia probe. and californians are bracing for mudslides as heavy rain hits for mudslides as heavy rain hits wildfire-ravaged areas.

captioning funded by cbs good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. as the g-20 summit of world leaders gets set to start in argentina tomorrow, much of the focus is on saudi arabia. crown prince mohamed bin salman arrived in argentina yesterday amid the controversy surrounding the murder of jamal khashoggi. he was killed at the saudi arabian consulate in turkey last month. security has been increased at the saudi arabian embassy in buenos aires where the prince is staying. president trump leaves for the summit this morning. meanwhile, there are new calls to end u.s. involvement in the war in yemen as the fallout continues over khashoggi's murder. tom hanson is here with more. good morning. >> as you were just mentioning, both the crown prince and president trump will be in argentina but there is no word on a formal meeting.

meanwhile, the u.s. senate is retaliating for the murder of j >> the senate advanced a resolution yesterday to end military support of saudi arabia's involvement in the war with yemen. >> if the president won't send the message, we have to, that you cannot murder a journalist in a consul, especially one that's a u.s. citizen. >> the vote was in part to punish saudi arabia for the murder of jamal khashoggi. the cia's assessment is that saudi arabia crown prince order to kill him. >> maybe he did, maybe he didn't. >> president trump has been reluctant to accept those findings. >> there is no direct reporting that links the crown prince to the mird of jamal khashoggi. state and defense both echoed the untold stories of a briefing. >> we have no smoking gun that the crown prince was involved. >> missing from the briefing was

hiehinrs. . trump said a pardon for manafort was never discussed but i wouldn't take it off the table. why i would take it off the table? it's not the first time the president has expressed sympathy for his former campaign chairman. >> you know what? he happens to be a very good person, and i think it's very sad what they've done to paul manafort. >> and in a sign, manafort is angling for a pardon, his attorney has taken the unusual step of updating the president's legal team on what the special counsel is asking about. manafort has spoken to mueller's office several times since entering a plea deal in september, a deal federal investigators said this week he violated by lying. >> after the president's twitter attack against the special counsel, republican senator jeff flake demanded a bill on the special counsel but it was blocked by fellow republican senator mike reed. cbs news, the white house. nancy pelosi is one step closer to becoming speaker of the house again. she cleared a major hurdle yesterday.

the russian defense ministry released video showing the military testing new anti-aircraft systems. they were part of regular training exercises, but come during a time of heightened tension between russia and ukraine. over the weekend, the russian coast guard seized three ukrainian vessels and their crews. life expectancy for americans declines and why stormy daniels may be looking for a new lawyer. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. the daily beast reports that stormy daniels is accusing her lawyer, michael avenatti, of suing president trump against her wishes. the adult film star also reportedly said in a statement that avenatti refused to give her accounting information about

her legal fund and that she also said he started a second legal defense fundraising site without telling her. daniels says she's not sure whether she will keep avenatti on as her lawyer. avenatti despite the claims and said he personally sacrificed money, time, and energy towards assisting the actress. "the washington post" reports suicide is at a 50-year peak in the u.s. and it's pushing down life expectancy. there were more than 2.8 million u.s. deaths in 2017, that's an increase of nearly 70,000 from 2016. one factor is the death rate for the nation's number one killer heart disease, that's increased. another factor is the suicide death rate last year was the highest that it's been in at least 50 years. there were more than 47,000 a school where enrollment is cut off at september 1st birth date are more likely to be diagnosed. this compares with slightly older kids enrolled in the same grade.
