francisco, one of many scenes where bomb threats have come in in the past hour. >> and this is a live look in son fran at the marine memorial building in the city. joins us live on the phone is the security analyst jeff. tell us what's going on and what kind of investigations are underway? have they confirmed any bombs or any devices? . . >> reporter: --[ no audio ] . >> all right. we are having audio problems. this is going on at cities across the country in places like boston, denver, even idaho. thatse wercongseeing, rlpocong through e-mails, perhaps a robo e-mail and resi yents were -- recipients were threatened if they didn't present a bitcoin,

they would be bombed. most of the threats deemed not credible. we have not heard about explosions or any violence. just the threats. >> this is a live picture if the ground -- from the ground at the jewish community center in san francisco. you can see in the shot, police and authorities cordened on the area with yellow tape. of course, it is san active investigation right now. we have a crew on the way to the scene to investigate and ask the officers what is happening. the jewish community center also issue a warning this morning, e-mailing some of to people saying there was an evacuation in progress. we'll continue to follow this. we have jeff harp on the phone rour. jeff, do you hear us? >> we can hear you, jeff. we can hear you. what do you know about these bomb threats? so far, we're hearing they're not credible. is that the intel you're getting in.

>> that's what i'm heard. these things aren't taken lightly ever. especially on the heels of the shooting in france. everyone in the law enforcement and intelligence communities, they're on high alert. it's been a while since we've had an attack and you get in a comfortable position. we're hoping this is not real. >> what's stunning is it's widespread throughout the entire country. that toez poedzs -- poses a problem obviously to authorities, jech. >> -- jeff. >> it poses a huge problem. it's a huge drain of resources. a few years ago, there was a similar hoax across the internet and put a lot of people on high alert at a lot of different schools and that sucks up the resources of law enforcement. >> and local authorities from san francisco, san jose, oakland, investigating threats in various cities across the bay area.

at who point to federal authorities get involved? >> well, the federal authorities are going to get involved from the beginning. they have access to information. they'll work jointly with the organizations as well. this is done many a vacuum. all hands on deck. >> and we're talking ability the possibly of a ro be shgs o e-mail -- robo e-mail that gives it the possibility of a widespread threat and possibly less of a threat, what do you make on that? ? >> they'll do investigating into that and have the cyber experts make a determination if that's going on or an actual threat. >> and what are you hearing ability the possible -- about the possible blackmail saying people would need to send in money or bitcoin? . >> so we came where there's been ran ransom -- ransom wear and shut down sites. we've seen the crime evolve and

the criminals evolve and so has the methods they're using to try to get the money. >> at this point in the situation, obviously, it's a big scare for anyone in the city because so many cities have been receiving these types of threats, what do analysts, security people tell -- what are your recommendations for people in a time like this? >> well, unfortunately, you can't take it lightly. because what if somebody takes something lightly and don't report it and a bomb goes off? we're in a bad situation. call the police. let the authorities handle it. it'll be intensive for resources for law enforcementment until -- law enforcement. until we figure out if this is a hoax, we have to treat it if it's not. >> how long could that take? he have areas all over the city and country frozen by this. and all of to resources poured

out when it comes to police. how long do you think this could go on? ? >> that's anybody's guess. i got a call about the same questions. it's extremely widespread right now. that tends to make me believe it's more on the hoax side than not. but again, we dornt take these things lightly anymore it puts everybody on edge and stretches the resources for law enforcement. >> security analyst for us, jeff harp on the phone. jeff, thank you ffr that information -- for that information. and let's get to wilson walker now. he is live? san francisco. . >> reporter: -- in san francisco. >> reporter: yeah. on california street where the jouish community center is. one of the places affected by all of this and kind of feels like you're sdanding at -- standing at one little piece of a much large -- of a much larger country. d oklahoma city just crossing the phone. ovnl something on a tremendous

scale here. i can speak to this one spot of it. and the long and short of it is this incident kind of paralyze the entirety of this area. obviously, california street is blocked. the next two streets down really in every direction, you can see the tape going back across, you know, the city. and then down another block. you're talking about several blocks of traffic affected and streets blocked up. muni stopped running the california route out this direction. so the -- just the practical impact of this is immediate and real. there are a bunch of folks on sacramento street cleared out of the offices over here, gathered at cafes figuring out what to do the with the rest -- with the rest of the day. you can see one of the dogs. chris, if you want to busch down.

-- pushg down. dls a -- push down. there's a number of dogs. you can guess the expertise the dogs might have. this is one spot that has been just come to a halt here as these bomb threats kind of pour in across the bay area and beyond. >> in this picture, we're seeing a few authorities. we see a few police cars out there as well. give us a sense of how many officers are in that area. . >> reporter: let's see. there's -- there's i think two cruisers down here at the immediate intersection here on california. there's a couple other cruisers back on the sacramento street side up there, which is also wloked -- blocked. and i guess that's pine street, the outbound street a block south of where i'm standing. sacramento to pine with california in the middle and

then the sort of two blocks either -- or one block either east and west. cruisers parked at all of those intersections. i believe they were setting up -- here comes the german shepard along the cars here. ichs told -- i was told they would set up a command post on the pine street side of the area. more police making their way over here and a whole lot of porking enforcement flooding the area trying to get the streets cleared off. you're talking ability -- about one, two -- maybe a five-black area sealed off. >> and let me clarify. people in offices were out of their buildings. so it's not just the jcc, is jewish community center, it's other buildings around there on high level threat? . >> reporter: well, look, the san francisco fire credit union is right across california street.

it very much looks like that building -- i'm almost s builng- certain bu they'vved out. back across the street, there are offices along that side of the street. now, that street is closed too. i'm guessing some of the folks in those buildings were pulled out. if you add up the properties that are immediately sort of facing the jewish community center here, they all probably would have been pulled out. i mean, again, i go back to what i saw on sacramento, a lot of people standing around figuring out what to do. >> wilson walker live in the laurel heights neighborhood. these bomb threats going on all over the country. it could have been an automated e male accepting db -- e-mail sending out the threats. >>. >> and right now, hundreds of them. obviously, a huge concern in the bay area and across the country.

let's get to allen marting who is live from the newsroom with more details in terms of the national scope. >> yeah, guys, whatever this is, it's huge. it's nationwide. you can imagine, police all over the united states are scrambling to figure out exactly what is going on here. there's so many calls they have to deal with and they have to take them seriously. this is a live picture in north carolina. authorities going through the buildings looking for any type of a suspicious device. so far, we must reiterate, nothing has been found. no device found anywhere. the same scene coast to coast in chicago, new york, boston, orlando, detroit. there are locations in the midwest too that are dealing with the bomb threats. indiana and iowa and nebraska. in the rockies, areas of utah, even idaho. and there's word now whoever is calling in, e-mailing in the

threats is demanding this bitcoin payment trying to hold the nation hostage, it would seem, until they get paid. threats started to come in about 10:00 our time this morning. but again, i want to reiterate, no device, nothing has been found. the situation still of course very fluid. things are still developing. law enforcement not really able to release a lot of details because they have a lot of ground to cover. but you saw this number of resources just in that none neighborhood -- one neighborhood where wilson walker is. and throughout the country, there's a lot of resources deployed to try to figure this out, whether it is a hoax, whether it's some sort o a scam -- of a scam or trying to eate asion, we'll keep monitoring the situation across the country. >> and we did see a tweet in the new york city police department saying it does not consider the threats credible. so that's good news. >> certainly, that's good news

in that stay. here in the -- city. here in the bay area, we have not heard from authorities in certainlies of -- terms of whether they have determined this credible or not. we'll keep an eye of this and continue to contact the authorities. we have i team to have -- a team of reports trying to make phone calls and get more information as the bomb net tlets -- threats -- it's a fluid situation. there is a live look at the jewish community in san francisco, that building was e vak kwat -- evacuated and another building nearby. neighbors and residents waiting for marco rubio informationment we will -- more information. we'll bring that to you when we get it and as it warrants. >> the real concern at this point since there haven't been that this is a huge drain on resource. s. -- resources.

breaking news right now here in -- the country. police in san francisco, san jose, oakland, and cities nationwide investigating numerous bomb threats. no evidence the threats are credible. this is a live look in the city of laurel heights neighborhood at the jewish community center. the subject of one of these threats. i want to tell you what the fbi just e-mailed us about this saying we are aware of the bomb threats in cities across the country and we remain in touch with law enforcement to provide assistance. as always, we encourage did public to remain vigilant and promptly port suspicious activities. i want to reiterate at this point, none of the threats have been deemed credible. >> and we are confirming the jcc at california, the marines memorial club and hotel building in san francisco and the san francisco firefighter
