let's take a look across the area. you can see the gray and gloomy skies have started to clear up. let's go to emily turner tracking her way through the storm. spent those storms are moving through. we have the worst of it in the green bay. these spotty showers will be going in and out all of the day as they make their way out of the area zooming in on the central base, you can see there is a nice band of it. it is going to mill valley, richmond, bayview all the way over closer to walnut creek. you guys are all getting showers at the moment. we are also seeing showers in the south bay, right around san jose, kind of a ring around san jose, at the moment. this will continue to the afternoon until things begin to dissipate. we have also seen a good amount

of rainfall at santa rosa. just under an inch. we are under a high surf advisory until 9:00 tonight. i know it is tempting for usurpers to want to get out there but those brakes are 18 hyping 21 feet. taking a live look, you can see the waves out there this morning. getting some people wet as they are out there gawking at the waves. in fact, there were some surfers out there. lots of people still dealing with the aftermath of the latest storm. katie is in the santa cruz mountains where will work crews are clearing. >> reporter: this is one of those areas. if you can work from home, you probably should. this was the scene this morning, blocked lanes as work crews grind up a tree that fell overnight. after several days of soaking rain, the hillside

of highway 17 s. of idlewild road could not take it anymore. just before 4:30 this morning, a small mudslide gave way and the tree measuring more than 2 feet across toppled over blocking both lanes. a short time later, a white minivan slammed into the tree. >> fortunately, it wasn't here for any one forward to fall on. some right here and some on the back roads. >> reporter: the saturated ground and heavy winds, right around midnight, the fire department got a call about a large tree toppling on top of two cars and dragging down the power lines. those live wires tracked the people inside. the tree missed the house, everyone was okay and the homeowner just went back inside and tried to go back to sleep. right around the same time in los altos hills, another tree

fell onto a minivan. no one was injured here but to give you some idea of the size and weight of that tree, look closely and you can see the undercarriage almost touching the ground. the horrendous traffic lasting well into morning. this is a good reminder to give yourself enough time and take it easy and bad weather. in the santa cruz mountains, kpix 5 news. now threatening to withhold emergency fund for wildfire relief. the president claims that the state has mismanaged and says he will yank the funds. earlier today, the president tweeted out saying billions of dollars that with proper forest management would never have happened. unless they get their act together which is unlikely, i have ordered fema to send no more money. governor newsom quick to respond with the president

it happened forcing all northbound lanes to close. the driver was traveling north. the passenger was sleeping in the back and chp says the driver dozed off. >> he subsequently went off the roadway and went up. the truck turned over on its side. the passenger appeared to be restrained, sleeping in the back and was then killed. >> the driver sustained major injuries and was hospitalized. officials do not believe drugs or alcohol or factors. traffic is still congested through san jose right now, the right northbound lane remains closed. new video from outside of dallas. a union pacific train went off the tracks this morning and you can see dozens of cars piled up inches from several homes. 13 cars were impacted and seven cars

there are some new clues on a cold case murder in west oakland. in this footage, you are about to see the suspect walked to the station just before the fatal shooting three years ago today. now as an effect tells us, bartow has just doubled the reward money and a new push to track down this killer. >> reporter: it was three years ago this evening that a 19-year- old was killed on a bart train and now we have new information on the killer who is still on the roof loose. she was shot at close range at 7:40 p.m. on january 9, 2016. police released a series of surveillance photos but he has

managed to evade them for three years. >> i guarantee you he is looking over his shoulder every single day. >> reporter: today, the police announced they believe the suspect has a strong tie to the antioch area and goes by the first name of maddie. here on the 3400 block of delta fair boulevard in antioch before they boarded the bart train at the pittsburgh station. detectives also believe the suspects fathers name is vic or victor and that vic has a ford crown victoria car similar to this one. >> there's a possibility that he may have fled but often times, individuals, it is human nature to stick to areas that you are comfortable with. >> reporter: police are not revealing anything about a possible motive but the suspect and romero did exchange words on the bus. the suspect, matty, is a blackmail taller than 6 feet. at the time of the murder, he had a bald, shaved or close cut

december, he was chosen for drug testing seven times in 11 weeks. read who is one of the first players to nail during the national anthem believes he is being targeted. in a joint investigation by the nfl and players association finds his claims to be inaccurate and responded with a statement saying "there is no evidence of targeting with respect to his selection for testing. we take any claim questioning the integrity of our drug policies seriously.
