flight delays because of staffing shortages along the east coast friday. air traffic controllers and airport security agents have been working without pay since the shutdown began. bay area airport workers are celebrating the news that the shutdown is ending for three weeks. tsa workers in oakland got relief as they make due for now without another paycheck. we have that part of the story. >> reporter: they are cooking free lunch for about 150 tsa agents here today. people who haven't been paid in more than a month. a little fuel to ease the pain of not being paid. to make i have to call somebody to guess. >> reporter: they have been with the tsa for two years, a job she never viewed as unstable until the shutdown began.>> it is definitely getting a lot of us to debate whether we are going to stay or seek other employment. >> reporter: the non-profit

rapid relief team volunteered to set up lunch outside the tsa break room at local international to show their appreciation. >> obviously serving one much by not be a huge thing, it is not going to solve the problem, but we thought it might ease the pain. reportwh seen more sick calls the normal during the shutdown, it wasn't enough to slow operations. >> we are lucky. we have fantastic workers. these folks are committed to service. >> reporter: and appreciative to be recognized for it. >> you don't realize how many people are out there and supporting until they are actually here. >> more on those east coast airport delays. laguardia, new jersey's newark airport and philadelphia international airport are experiencing significant delays after a spike today in sick calls from air traffic controllers. some flights were delayed by an average of nearly 90 minutes. many frustrated passengers were also delayed on the

tarmac. one person on a flight at jfk in new york to columbia tweeted that these images with the captions "taxied for a while and then back to the gate to refuel. delayed due to staffing issues caused by the government shutdown." a live look at sfo where thankfully airport officials are not expecting any delays due to the east coast problems. san jose airport says they could see delays later today due to a trickle-down effect with the layovers. a longtime ally of president trump, roger stone, was arrested overnight and in court this morning accused of lying to congress and of witness tampering. the arrest is the latest move by robert mueller's team. nikole killion has the latest from the white house. >> reporter: president trump just made a statement here at the white house on another topic, but so far he seems to be dismissing the latest charges an indictment against his longtime ally, roger stone. roger stone emerged from a federal courthouse in florida friday and declared his

innocence. >> i will plead not guilty to these charges. i will defeat them in court. i believe this is a politically motivated investigation. >> reporter: stone is charged with one count of obstructionof counts of making false statements, and one count of witness tampering. the indictment goes into great detail about stone's efforts to find out when wikileaks went released democratic emails the russians had during the 2016 presidential campaign. according to the court documents, senior trump campaign official was directed to contact stone about any additional releases and what other damaging information organization one had regarding the clinton cafi. special counsel robert mueller's team accuses stone of trying to cover up his actions by lying and attempting to get others to lie for him. the white house and president trump's attorneys say today's charges against stone are unrelated to the president himself.

president trump tweeted this morning, once again, calling the mueller probe the greatest witchhunt in the history of our country. no collusion. >> this has nothing to do with the president, has nothing to do with the white house. >> reporter: stone is the six trump associate or advisor charged by the special counsel's office. the other five all plead guilty to various crimes. >> it is very interesting to see the kinds of people that the president of the united states has surrounded himself with. >> reporter: some in congress have reviewed calls to pass a bill to protect mueller's investigation from being shut down before it is finished. stone says he would not testify against the president. he is due to appear in court again here in washington next week. at the white house, nikole killion, kpix 5. back in the bay area one person is dead after a crash on merced boulevard near the kaiser facility in san leandra. a large pickup truck and a small sedan were involved in

the accident. the crash happened around seven this morning between republic avenue and fairway drive. police are investigating the cause. the victim's identity has not yet been released. and san jose all lanes are back open on highway 101 in both directions after this car flipped over, stalling traffic. it happened after eight this morning near mckee road. the accident backed up lanes for at least a mile. authorities say one person has major injuries. a scary scene on board a flight from hawaii went a crewmembers medical emergency forces the landing at sfo. hawaiian airlines flight 50 left honolulu for new york's jfk airport, but diverted to sfo after a medical emergency on board late last night. officials say a flight attendant experienced a suspected heart attack. doctors on board were called to the front and attentive cpr, leaving many passengers to wonder what was happening.>> a little chaotic. a bunch of them were doing cpr and they switched off because that was for a good hour to two

drill where you have 30 seconds to get the puck through all the gates. i finished just under the time limit at 24.7 seconds. brian, who played a couple years of roller hockey in middle school -- >> boom that's more like it! >> reporter: finishes at at 18.73 seconds. that is impressive when you consider the olympic hockey players were finishing at 14 seconds.>> if you had to choose one of us and a draft would you go for? >> the cameraman. >> reporter: next up, five shots and a goalie. i get really lucky and score one right between the legs. brian scores to goals. as for accuracy and getting the puck through the tire, i miss not once, or twice, but all five shots are duds. but brian got one in a bull's- eye. finally slap shots, going for top speed. yours truly got a respectable 62 miles an hour.

making a move that will connect three of his most powerful apps and could make messages more private. the new york times reports he is planning to integrate the messaging infrastructure of what's up instagram and facebook message or in order to use and to end encryption to that protects messages from being viewed by anyone except those involved in the conversation. the three services will continue as standalone apps. cbs's note labeling photographs of models in its beauty aisles to identify whether they have been photoshop. it is part of the company's effort to be more transparent with its beauty campaigns. 70% of all in-store beauty photos are now labeled beauty unaltered, or digitally altered. cvs hopes to have 100% transparency by 2020. the company says it is celebrating the authenticity and diversity of the community it serves. let's see how wall street is doing this afternoon. it is in positive territory, up more than 175 points. some positive news and pro football per the washington post reporting that the nfl players suffered less

concussions during the 2018 regular season compared to the prior season. the league reporting that 135 diagnosed concussions. the nfl says it could be because of new training practices, the increased use of advanced helmets and role changes to the game. in 2017 a study of a sample of deceased nfl players found that 110 of the 111 players had cte, a degenerative brain disease believed to be c let's get a check of our weather because the weekend has almost started for us. >> i am so excited. we had the sunshine today through the weekend, so perfect timing with our weather. a gorgeous look from our camera looking east and you can see mount diablo under the sunshine. our temperatures are warming up. 62 in concorde, oakland and livermore are at 60.
