a messy monday around the bay area, the rain making for soggy conditions in oakland and plenty of umbrellas out. >> roadways have been blocked by mudslides, washed away by the rain. >> we have team coverage on the storm, kiet do, mary lee is tracking conditions right now. >> reporter: we've been watching snow levels drop now to about 2500 feet and we are getting a light dusting of snow especially at highway 29. near the napa lake county line there, can you see that snow falling and we will continue to see snow levels drop as we go through the day and especially by tonight. see you here, this is high def doppler with the dusting of snow, mount diablo and mount hamilton. you can see the north bay

mountains getting a little bit of snow right now. this is the rain from san ramon, hayward, moderate heavy rain, san mateo and right over gadas. e can you see mount hamilton, the snow coming down there. let's talk about what you can expect. winter weather advisory will kick in at 4:00 today until 7:00 a.m. tomorrow and that's for the north bay mountains, the east bay hills and santa cruz mountains. elevations above 5000 feet could see 6 to 8 inches of snow. off and on showers, isolated thunderstorm is possible. that snow level will be dropping to around a thousand feet. it's going to be a cold morning as well as we start off e 'ltalkut atper 20s s. expect sog in a few minutes, michelle. >> mary, thank you. cal cal kiet do picks up

team coverage on highway 35 where rain is causing major damage on the road. >> so the sink hole does not appear to be that bad, it's a lot worse than it looks. days of soaking rain was just too much for this section of highway 35. the hill below it gave way over the weekend and took a 12-foot by 30-foot asphalt with it. now it's about 6 feet lower. this is a picture from google's street view captured a your and a half ago and shows the ditch is now gone. highway 35 is shutdown in both directions as crews plan their next move. engineid e worse. t to make sure the roadway does not crumbling. near la honda, kiet do, cal cal. both directions of niles

seattle and portland and that colder storm is going to move in as we go through tonight torrow morning. let's time it out for futurecast. here we are at 4:00 p.m. scattered showers and we are looking at again the potential to see some snowshoes for the north bay mountains, santa cruz mountains, east bay hills, they do have a winter weather advisory for 4:00 p.m. today until tomorrow morning. elevations above a thousand feet. i will say this, when there is a down draft that could send colder air to the surface, there is a chance to see lowering snow levels below a thousand feet. 11:00 p.m. and you can see the pink, the white, the puer then as go through tomorrow morning, still the chance for some showers and some for the north bay mountains, east bay hills. now with that cold storm system we are talking about chilly temperatures all week long.
