news, the nfl settles the collusion lawsuit by two former 49ers. >> former san francisco 49ers colin kaepernick and eric reid filed grievances against the leak claiming they were blacklisted because they protested the national anthem by kneeling during the song of games. neither of the nfl or the former players are releasing details about today's settlement. kaepernick hasn't played in the leak since 2016, reed missed three games last season before signing with carolina. trocar the top story this afternoon is high waters, closed roads and muddy mess left behind, all thanks to the bay areas latest storm.

>> frowe take a look, we will see a mix of sun, clouds and rain drops from the bay area. some places getting a break from the storm but i'll get used to it. >> reporter: mary lee is here with conditions. >> we have seen it all. we've seen thunderstorms, some sunshine as well as snow and i higher bay area mountain peaks. let's show you some video. this is hail, small hail this morning in the north bay and son raphael and the sun valley neighborhood. we've seen lightning strikes as well up in the north bay. so, we will continue to see isolated thunderstorms and heavy downpours and catching some sunshine as well. the atmosphere is so unstable with this cold. you can see light to moderate showers pushing from santa rosa, petaluma, across concord, walnut creek right along 680 you can see a downpour. and then heavy rain from san mateo, redwood city down across sunnyvale. the red colors indicating heavy rain and also the possibility of small hail as well.

so, here's how much rain we have seen. we have seen a lot of rain and the rainfall water since october 1, a lot of rain we are talking about when under 10% of average from many locations across the bay area. we are not done with the rain just yet. we'll talk about the rest of your weekend coming up on future cast. flooded roads and broken levies, north bay residents have been hit hard by this week's term and some residents are being asked to evacuate. kpix 5 and mecca vick is in guerneville with the details. you can see this golf course off of 116 is inundated with water but its in a low lying area. >> reporter: this gorilla, just 2 years ago was up to its neck in rainwater. for locals, this weather is par for the course. today, dozens of homes in and around guerneville are accessible only by boat. >> you could walk . its waist high water.

>> reporter: that is kind of deep. matt lives a few blocks away from downtown. this is what is neighborhood look like when the rain started collecting yesterday afternoon. as the russian river and its tributaries overflowed. entire neighborhoods were evacuated as roadways became rivers. >> i drove through water that was in that high but driving back through it flooded my car. >> reporter: travel is dicey. ask edward who has a tree cutting job across the way. >> i'm out i can you get through? i will go look. >> reporter: the answer was no which means no pay, either. spare me, maybe just for the day. >> reporter: is not nothing. they know the drill. >> will remove everything that's on the ground up, we move it up to a and parker cars at the post office.

and arena. in southwest martinez, crews were out in the early morning trying to repair this crumbling roadway. chunks of bear creek road fell into a creek just north of garcia ranch road. when lena shut down on the route which links brioni is to martinez and canola. in san francisco, residents living in flood prone parts of the cities can pick up free sandbags. you can grab them from 8 am until 2 pm at the operations large on kansas and marin. you are allowed 10 free sandbags. skiers and snowboarders hoping to enjoy the powder maybe , may have to turn around because there is too much. take a look at this. near whiteout conditions on i 80 in the sierra. caltrans announced parts of that road closed because of the poor trouble conditions you are

seeing. drivers are being turnaround eastbound at colfax and westbound at the nevada state line. we will be honoring the closures and up to you with the details. as if wind and rain aren't enough, a small earthquake shook the south bay today. the usgs measuring it at 2.7. it struck just before 8 am just east of milpitas near the calaveras reservoir. no reports of damage. the police are expected to release new details about a hostage standoff in san jose that ended in deadly gunfire. sources tell us the suspect is mark murawski. the sheriff steve hartman says hewoman led deputies on a chase around 5 pm. the suspect reportedly abandoned that car, carjacked a ups truck and took the driver hostage. they were able to leave the truck early in the standoff. the suspect was fatally shot by law enforcement after trying to make a run for it. a crew was preparing for life h
