jail just 24 hours after his explosive interview aired here on "cbs this morning," court officers in chicago arrested him yesterday after a hearing over unpaid child support bills. authorities say that kelly will stay in jail until he comes up with more than $161,000 that he owes his three children. this morning, in a portion of the interview you haven't heard we actually talked to r. kelly for over 80 minutes, the r&b singer says he has little money left. your income, it was reported that your income was very high. hundreds of millions of dollars. we'll say that because i don't want to get hung up -- >> that's one rumor i wish was true. >> and yet when you were in jail last week, the bond was $100,000 and they said r. kelly couldn't even afford to get himself out of jail. that a friend had to come and bail you out of jail. what is your financial situation if you don't mind saying? >> here's the deal. so many people have been stealing my money, people was

connected to my account. i went into -- i went by myself for the first time to bank of america. didn't know what i was doing, didn't know what the hell was going on. >> when did you do that? first time by yourself? >> about three weeks ago to a month. >> three weeks ago was the first time you went to bank of america by yourself. >> by myself. because i was so tired of not knowing where my money was, what my publishing is. >> isn't that on you then? isn't that on you? >> a lot of it is on me. >> that you didn't know where your money is. >> a lot of it is on me. >> people say he doesn't have money because he had to pay so much in settlements. what do you say about that. >> lie. >> reporter: according to court documents he settled three lawsuits who allege they were minors when he had sex with them but kelly says what really cost him is the people who had access to his bank account. something he found out from a bank teller. >> i like had $350,000 in the

bank and i told her, look, take that, i want to start a new account and had that's the way it is, she said, okay. going to take six or seven business days to clear. does that make sense. >> reporter: the day after the trip to the bank, kelly was indicted on ten counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. he says he was unable to access his bank account to make bail. now he's back in jail for the separate child support case. something he became emotional about during our interview. >> how can i pay child support? how? if my ex-wife is destroying my name and i can't work, how can i work, how can i get paid? how can i take care of my kids? how? >> your ex-wife -- >> use your common sense. >> your ex-wife says you abused her, robert. >> lie.

ex-wife andrea described a tumultuous and sometimes dangerous relationship. >> went to the national domestic awareness hotline and there are 17 questions. there was only two things on that list that robert hadn't done to me. and that's when it became real to me like. >> is andrea not telling the truth when she says she was abused by you. is she not telling the truth. >> absolutely. i love her to death. i have nothing against her still. that is my kids' mother. >> she's making that up why? why is she making that up, robert? >> i'm not disrespecting her by saying, she's not telling the truth. i'm just being honest. somebody sent me something on my phone and it said that i hog tied her. i don't know how to hog tie

disturbing. it's even more disturbing to see it on video. >> i even think this is more disturbing than what we saw yesterday. you know, you talked about him being sort of on the verge of something, but the volatility that i saw there, the intensity. what looked like lying about his past too, it was disturbing to watch. >> when you contrast what he said about his wife and then what you heard from her in that docu-series you can't make sense of it. and r. kelly has pleaded not guilty to the newest charges of abusing four women including three who were allegedly underage at the time. our chicago station wbbm-tv reports police in detroit are looking into a new allegation that kelly had sex with an underage girl in 2001 and told gayle that everyone accusing him of physical and sexual abuse is lying. we spoke with two women living with him. azriel clary and jocelyn savage, their families believe kelly nwashed em. but "cbs thorning," the

night at 8:00, 7:00 central on cbs. the air force is apologizing to a u.s. senator who revealed during a public hearing on military sexual assault that she is a survivor of it. arizona republican martha mcsally, america's first female fighter pilot to fly in combat served in the air force for more than two decades and she said yesterday that sexual abuse nearly forced her to quit. >> in one case i was preyed upon and then raped by a superior officer. >> we spoke with the senator on capitol hill after she told that intensely personal story in an interview you'll see only here on "cbs this morning." you've served in the military for 26 years. you've served in combat. >> yeah. >> why now? >> it's not just as a commander that i speak but as a survivor that i just felt i needed to talk about it but it isn't about me. i wanted to give it perspective

of why i am advocating so strongly for women in the military and why i'm advocating that the command chain has to step up and do their job to rid us of sexual assault. >> was it difficult for you to say it publicly in a forum like that. >> you know, it was. it brings back the very real memories and the realities of it all, but i'm glad i did. >> do you think the prevalence of sexual assault and abuse in the military is a fat security threat? >> i do. i do. for sure i don't want people to think, well, maybe it's just all these problems we have now that there are women in the military. think about it, if you have a predator, if you have a rapist who is serving in uniform, you don't deal with it by keeping a woman out of their unit because that predator is going to go assault someone else. >> now mcsally says she did not report the alleged rape for several years and tells us why she felt disgusted at how the air force ultimately handled her

talking about this. now you can see more of our interview with the senator tomorrow including her surprising response when asked if survivors of sexual assault should report it. that's tomorrow here on "cbs this morning." we have a much fuller interview and it's quite revealing what she tells us about what happened to her, what is the solution, it's controversial. what she learned for serving for more than 2 pfaff decades. >> i heard her say she thought about leaving the military. i've never forgotten how you say so many women don't stick it out because of what happened to her and how many we might have lost because of it. >> she says the system raped her again. >> wow, looking forward to that tomorrow. michael cohen's lawyer says cohen directed his previous attorney to look into the possibility of a presidential pardon. that could contradict the recent congressional testimony by cohen. president trump's former fixer. cohen's team discussed the idea with the president's lawyers after the fbi raid of his properties in april of last year. but that looks like it goes against what he told lawmakers last week.

in our "eye on money" series, the irs is warning taxpayers about the top 12 tax scams it calls the dirty dozen. the agency is announcing one fraud each day. this morning, the irs is revealing its latest scam on the list -- dishonest tax preparers. it's previously announced identity theft, phone scams, and phishing scams. these three appeared on last year's list, as well. business analyst jill schlesinger is here with what you need to know this tax season. e-mail scams jumped 60% from 2017 to 2018. what should you do if you do get a suspicious e-mail? >> well, first of all, you have to recognize it is a suspicious e-mail. in is what's trick -- this is what's tricky because sometimes it comes looking close to an organization that you know. you click on the website asking for information, and you give up the information, then the fraudster uses your information, files a fraudulent return, gets

the refund sent to him or her, and then when you go to file your taxes, oh, my god, a return has already been filed. what do you do? you don't open anything that looks remotely suspicious. it's important. you don't click on any hyperlinked website. you don't open attachments. you absolutely should forward this to the irs. it's phishing@irs.gov. delete the e-mail. this happened to my dad, i put this in the book, like the earnings season of the smart person who -- like the essence of the smart person who does something dopey. it looked like an organization he had given money to, but it was different. >> we conduct so much of our life over e-mail. how can you tell if you get a real e-mail from the irs? >> first of all, some of the fraudsters are so canny that they're using irs forms in the e-mail header. so one thing that's important is that you go to irs.gov. and if you've got a form number or claim number or issue number that you then can say to the

irs, hey, is this real? so again, so much information at irs.g irs.gov. please use it. it's your tax dollars at work really well. >> phone scammers, as well. you said hang up, what you said in the green room. >> hang up. it's not just your land line y anymo anymore, it's to cell phones. these are robo calls. they are aggressive. you'll find if someone is on the phone or they say, "i'm from the irs" or "i'm from a collection agency," that's your red flag. the irs generally will not call you and start a conversation this way. it's so important. you want to hang up. be careful, don't give information, and any question at all, just say no. hang up. >> a lot of unethical people. and it doesn't just happen -- happens year round. >> be on alert. >> thank you. still ahead, a new warning about something fishy in the seafood industry.

table. anna werner is here to explain. anna, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. well if you order snapper at a restaurant you expect to get snapper and you might be upset to learn if it's not this. new report finds that may be happening with your seafood more often than you think. wherever we test, it we found mislabeled seafood. >> reporter: bet lowell with advocate grope oceana has been working to stop seafood fraught for over a decade. >> a consumer thinks they are getting a high-priced fish and instead they are getting the alternative and are being ripped off. >> reporter: they collected 449 samples in 24 state and d.c. and found 1 out of 5 samples were biggest offenders, snapper and sea bass are 42% and 55% of the samples found to be fraudulent. >> well, the problem is seafood fraud can happen any time in the

this morning we're in china where childcare is a family affair. 2017 report found grandparents helped raise children during their prekindergarten years in more than three quarters of chinese families. ben tracy spoke to a couple in beijing who after the birth of their son added two more people to their households. >> reporter: most americans would probably dread the idea of living in a small, two-bedroom apartment with their in-laws, but here in china, it's not only common it seems to be something that both the grandparents and the parents seem to enjoy. it will be a few years before colin gu can drive a real carge own. so for now, the 2 1/2-year-old has his parents and grandparents to steer him in the right direction. shortly after colin was born, li ping and guzhengzhao moved into their daughter-in-law's small apartment to help raise

their grandson. >> 90% of the family have their parents and in-laws with them. >> reporter: abigail zhang has long and unpredictable hours as an executive assistant at an automobile company. her husband is an engineer. for most of the workweek, the grandparents are in charge. and cooking all the meals. would you be able to have this kind of job if you didn't have this help from the grandparts? >> no way. i have to tell you no way. i had to keep my job because i can only trust them, because i can only trust my parents or my husband's parents. they are the only people in the whole wild world that can love my son so much. >> reporter: why were you willing to move in and help so much? she says it's the chinese tradition, we are still quite healthy after retirement. being around the kid every day brings us joy. we have nothing to complain

about. historically, multigenerational living has been seen as the cultural ideaial in china with several generations living under one roof. today, grandparents share almost half of childcare duties with mothers of 2 and 3-year-olds. it's a big part of why china has one of the highest rates of women in the work force in the world. >> it's not just about individual choices, but it's about what you do to maximize the well being of the whole family. >> reporter: university of marylandor feinian chen said that in china parents often leave children with grandparents as they move from the countryside to the major cities in search of better paying jobs. >> grandparents providing care for the grandchildren very much creates that opportunity for other members of the family, mostly the mothers, to engage in >> reporter: chen was herself raised by grandparents in china and later in the united states

benefited from grandparents helping with her own kids. >> without a doubt i would not have gotten tenure without the help from my parents and my parents in-law. >> reporter: in america, only about 14% of grandparents provide significant care to grandkids. chen says it is more common among certain communities. >> black grandmothers, hispanic grandparents, the asian american grandparents oftentimes play a much more prominent role. >> reporter: chang says that even though -- chen says that even though many expect grandparents to help out, she wanted to take a moment to let her mother-in-law knows how grateful she is. what did you say to her, and what did she say to you? >> i said to her that i appreciate that they help a lot, and we always know that as chinese we're doing it with love.

>> reporter: the 100-marathon challenge was born out of what she calls necessity. she's the founder and ceo of thirst, a nonprofit created to help battle water scarcity around the globe by 2050. the united nations says as many as 5.7 billion people could be living in these areas. without easy access to one of life's most essential resources. >> most people have no idea. so i wanted to run because i wanted to make saving water famous. >> reporter: guli began her journey at the new york city marathon this past november and continued to log her miles in some of the most iconic and remote locations on earth, winding her way through six continents, all spots that have suffered dangerous water shortages. guli's ambition for the project has scuttled her to the far reaches of the planet. after 62 days, her body hit the brakes. what happened on day 62? >> i had quite severe pain in

high leg. the pain had got so bad that i couldn't walk. my team had to carry me into the car. took me to the hospital, and i was diagnosed with having a fracture in my right femur. >> reporter: what are you feeling in that moment? you're in the middle of this journey. >> i felt like i had let down the people whose stories i wanted to tell. i felt that i had let down the water crisis. i felt i let down my planet. >> reporter: and you got on your social media. >> i actually -- i was in the hospital literally outside the scanning room. the doctors are sitting in front of me. and messages started to come through on my phone. and then it was people who i didn't know who offered to donate distance to the campaign. we've had people on all seven continents including antarctica running for us. running for me, for water. >> reporter: whether they were literally helping push guli toward her goal or running on their own, strangers from around the world collectively completed nearly 20,000 miles in only 38

days. >> day 100! >> reporter: all culminating back in new york city for the 99th and 100th marathons where r unthinkable mission began. what is the support from around the world meant to you? >> the support has inspired me to keep going even when i thought all was lost. it's inspired me to be a better person, to stand up and be prepared to make a difference. more importantly, it's shown that even though each of us is individual, together we can make a huge change. [ cheers ] >> reporter: doctors advised mina against running so many marathons citing her age and physical health. in all, strangers from around the world ran 748 marathons in mina's family, far surpassing the remaining 38 she needed to complete her goal. isn't she inspiring? >> every single day, too, wow. >> you know yourself what it's like to run a marathon. i'm impressed with that. >> thank you. having run one, i can't imagine running two in a row.
