conditions from north to south. still soggy in some places this afternoon. sunny in other spots. now, just a couple of hours ago in downtown san francisco nearly everyone had their umbrellas out on third street. >> the rain came pounding down in berkeley and a formed some puddles outside this building. nonstop rain pelting the windshield during the early morning commute. this is on highway 24. the roadways were wet but traffic seemed to go pretty smoothly. >> over at sierra tahoe a lot of snow on the mountains today. you can expect travel delays today. a winter weather advisory is in effect through tonight. >> meteorologist mary lee is tracking hi-def doppler. >> we are not done just yet with the wet weather. we are trces popping up on hi-def doppler. brief heavy downpours. could see some hail in these cells as well. you can see glenn ellen, santa rosa, napa getting some brief

heavy downpours, some showers right over berkeley. walnut creek, concord as well as down across the tri-valley. dublin, right now it is pouring for you with a strong cell moving right over you, and livermore. and for the south bay you can see a cell right over wayne, and light rain over alem rock. rainfall so far, ben lomond, more than an inch of rain. berkeley, three-quarters of an inch of rain as well as for oakland, san anselmo as well. we will time out the rest of our rain on futurecast coming up. >> mary thank you. police are looking for the driver who struck and killed a man in pittsburg and then took off. earlier today police blocked off the intersection forcing a massive backup of cars.

no wore yet on the victim's identity or any description of the suspected vehicle. a car also struck and killed a pedestrian in santa rosa. this happened on stoney point road. police say it was raining a lot at the time. it was also dark and the pedestrian was jaywalking. the 18-year-old driver did stop at the scene and then called police. the victim's identity has not yet been released. right now people are not letting the rain stop them from striking outside ucsf and uc davis. jackie ward is in san francisco to break down the statewide strike. >> reporter: 20 months. that's how long the negotiation talks have been going on. and in all a that time they've gone nowhere. this scene is all too familiar. uc workers on strike again ofiledarining. the heart of the issue wage inequality. >> the university is taking too much money out to pay hey-paid

advertising. the total fines are now up to $9.3 billion. google released a statement saying they will be releasing further visibility. moments ago we learned the federal reserve is leaving its rates unchanged. let's see how that's affecting wall street. the down is down about 38 points. this afternoon president trump is making two stops in ohio which is seen as a key state for capped dates in the 2020 presidential election. live pictures at the event as he is about to give remarks at the u.s. army tank plant in lima, ohio. the president is expected to talk about the economy and low unemployment. later on attend a fund-raiser. the president has also been busy on twitter using the platform to launch attacks against two of his biggest critics. one living and one dead.

charges are not warranted and that the shooting was justified. the case is now closed. in texas a massive fire at a chemical plant is finally out this afternoon after burning for nearly four days straight. the concern now, though, possible health risks due to all that smoke and ash. investigators believe that a leak in one of the plant's tanks started the fire in the city of deer park just outside of houston. it engulfed more than half a dozen tanks since sunday. doctors are questioning whether tech companies like amazon, facebook, and google share the blame for a rise in unvaccinated kids. the percentage has quadrupled since 2001. the american academy of pediatrics sent letters to some of the largest tech companies asking silicon valley to confront what it called the spread of vaccine misinformatilidu nking of pages that spread misinformation about vaccinations. google says it is reducing recommendations of content that

our region. so you can see some strong cells popping up on hi-def doppler. some of these cells could produce some hail. so be watching that closely for you. could see some isolated thunderstorms with these cells. so zooming in here for the north bay and you can see from near santa rosa, rohnert park, as well as right over sonoma you can see a couple of cells popping up. some heavy downpours associated with that. a few showers near berkeley and orinda. tracking for the tri-valley, you can see cells, that moderate to heavy rainfall across parts of the east bay, the tri-valley. you can see from concord, spotty showers near san mateo, across the peninsula as well as down near saratoga. a few showers near milpitas as well as allen rock. you can see some patches of

blue, a little bit of sunshine, also the clouds. temperatures are running in the mid-50s. 57 in concord, 55 in oakland. 56 in livermore, 54 for santa rosa. here's the satellite and radar view. we can see that dip in the jet stream as well as that trough of low pressure bringing the wet weather. here's what you can expect. we still have that unsettled weather, so off and on showers as we head through the day. again, could see a brief heavy downpour, an isolated thunderstorm. as we head through tomorrow we're going to catch a break from the rain. a mix of sun and clouds for thursday. and then for friday we're tracking another system to roll in, and that will bring the return of the rain for your friday. now, because of the rain today the good news for allergy sufferers, the pollen count is down today. it is going to soar right back up into the high category. here's what you can expect that winter weather advisory.
