live from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix 5 news . at noon, a plane makes an emergency landing after reports of a strange odor. good afternoon. several people were taken to the hospital because of this foreign smelled. jackie is here with the details.

seven people are recovering after the 737 they were on was diverted and made an emergency landing at dulles international airport at washington dc. the plane was headed here, to sfo. the plane left san francisco shortly after 3:30 this morning, our time. some passengers reported smelling in older that smelled faintly like fuel. a passenger said about 20 people complained of feeling nauseous, having chest pains, headaches and anxiety attacks. this is what it looks like for passengers during the entire ordeal. the person taking the video was sitting by the window and had a great view of the fire trucks. can he? we have some breaking news just a few minutes ago. police releasing bodily body camera video.

year, airbnb, interest, slack. one lane on highway 238 is still close after a big rig crash that caused a massive fuel spill early this morning. the big rig collided with a gray honda civic just before 4:00 this morning. hazmat crews arrived at the scene to get everything cleaned up. you can see the truck jackknifed and walked the two right lanes and it looks like the front of the truck took the brunt of the cross. no word on any injuries. police are searching for a killer. authorities say this happened about 10:30 last night on the 7th street side. the woman was taken to the hospital and later died. no word on the victim's identity. so far, there have also been no arrest. investigators are looking for surveillance video for clues. about a dozen parents

charged in the college cheating scandal appeared in court in boston this afternoon. all of the parents are scheduled to base a judge today. a napa valley winemaker, and dozens more charged are not set to appear until next week. some of the parents paid admission consultants to rigged their children's test scores and bribe coaches to get into elite schools. theresa may's brexit deal is all dead after parliament voted to reject it for a third time today. the deadline is april 12 or leave without an agreement. britain was supposed to leave the european union. president of and his supporters are celebrating the end of robert mueller's investigation of possible collusion between the trump campaign and russia but democrats are not giving up on their investigations. the cotillion reports the president is not holding back

a brand-new parking lot opened up at the walnut creek bart station, today. but unless you already snagged a spot, you are out of luck, monthly parking permits sold out within days. you can still get on the waitlist. the new garage as part of a long-term project for the station where apartments, shops and restaurants are also in the works. renting a property and they say their stay left them feeling violated. they discovered a hidden camera inside the room. >> we just wanted a romantic getaway. the whole description is what brought us in. it has good ratings and

everything and we felt comfortable with the airbnb. >> reporter: they checked in for the night on tuesday when christie noticed something strange about the smoke detector. >> i actually came up to it and noticed there was a hidden camera right here. >> i opened it up and found there was a sd slot in there and a micro usb. >> reporter: it turns out it was a fake smoke detector hiding a hidden camera. >> i want people to know, if you're going to rent it out, look to the whole room for anything that looks suspicious. >> reporter: they say she told them that she just put the device up that morning but the same device looks to be in the airbnb photo advertising the room for rent. the couple filed a police report. they tried to speak with the owner but men who claimed they

were renters answered the door and said she wasn't at home. we contacted airbnb and they released a statement saying the safety and privacy of our community both online and off- line is our priority. airbnb's policies prohibit cameras and we take reports seriously. we promptly removed this house from our platform and completely refunded miss gonzales. >> police say after looking at the bank smoke alarm, they did not find wi-fi capability. they cannot charge for any crime . airbnb says they have removed the host and the renters were given a refund. twitter would label offensive tweets and exploring ways to give users more contacts but that it deems newsworthy and in the public interest.

the tech giant draws the line at direct threats against individuals. let's take a look at the big board and see how the stockmarket is doing. the dow jones is out. today's gains were led by industrial companies and chip makers. employees just want more time off. 70 2% say there's favorite part is unlimited time off followed by rewards for healthy living, base retirement and paid sabbaticals. the survey shows employees are looking for more flexibility to take the occasional vacation day without feeling like they are wasting paid time off. soon, there will be no smoking at the happiest place on earth. smoking and vaping will be prohibited. there will also be a ban on stroller wagons and oversize strollers in order to make the park less crowded. they can be no longer than 31 inches wide and 52 inches long.

the band went into effect yesterday affecting those bringing in coolers. it may be a good weekend to bring a cooler to the beach. it is going to be a beautiful weekend. we have been waiting for this all day long. east, sunshine and clouds out there. temperatures are running in the 50s to about 60 degrees in concorde. 59 as well as san jose. mid 50s in santa rosa so we are mainly dry on high definition doppler but it is tracking a few spotty showers. a few spotty showers in brighton as well. that low pressure system that brought the showers and thunderstorms yesterday continues to move out of here and high pressure moves in. with this high will be the dominant weather feature for the weekend.

we will have that clearing as we go through our afternoon and we are looking at plenty of sunshine for your saturday and especially for sunday. even warmer still with plenty of sun for our weekend. as we look ahead to late monday into tuesday, that is our next chance to see some rain. pollen count is down to the medium levels for today but it is going to skyrocket and soar right back up saturday, sunday and monday. drier and sunnier weather from a scale of 1 to 12 so by monday, we are at and 11, skyhigh by the weekend into early next week. however sunrise at 6:58 and daytime highs in the upper 50s to low to mid 60s so a little bit below average for this time of year. 61 in oakland, 63 in fairmont. vallejo coming in at 63. 64 for concord. we are talking 70s for our

you know, i use red onions all the time and the new crop is coming into the market. they are great on the grill and great in so many different salads. they are so versatile. i always have them around the house. selection storage is very important. otherwise, you could be quite disappointed. when you buy them, you want to make sure there is no sprouting, whatsoever. very translucent. when you bring them home, scored them in a cool and dry place. i enjoy them the best with some cut up tomatoes. cut them in small pieces with tomatoes with extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper and maybe avocado. and that is one great salad.
