good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. we begin with breaking developments in last month's ethiopian airlines plane crash. they released preliminary findings this morning. they say the max-8 plane was valid and certified to fly and the pilots were experienced to fly this plane. authorities say the crew repeatedly followed safety procedures to try to avoid the crash but were unable to gain control.oae lled srtly after the plane took off from the ethiopian capital. investigators are focusing on the plane's anti-stall system which is suspected of pushing the nose of the plane down. it was the second crash of a boeing 737 max in five months. boeing and the faa told pilots after the lion air crash in indonesia last october, deactivating the anti-stall

system t manually should prevent a crash. the faa is doing more demos. boeing is doing flight demos and says it will continue to do flight demos in the coming weeks. meanwhile all planes remain grounded worldwide. former vice president joe biden has issued a new response to growing allegations by women who claim he touched them inappropriately. he says in a twitter video he gets it and will be more mindful. this comes as another woman is speaking out about her experience with biden which made her uncomfortable. laura podesta is here in new york with that story. good morning, laura. >> good morning, anne-marie. there are now seven women who are saying they had unwanted physical contact with the former vice president and he's defending himself in that video you mentioned. he said that touching was his language to motivate with people, connect with people, to show he cares. biden says he gets that times are changing, but, anne-marie, he never explicitly said sorry in this video.

federal officials are looking into whether the incident was part of a larger plan to gain access to the president and do potential harm. prosecutors in a massive school admissions scandal may soon have their first guilty plea from a parent. peter jan sartorio, owner of a packaged foods company in california said in a court filing he will plead guilty. meanwhile actresses felicity huffman and lori loughlin along with ten other parents appeared before a judge in boston yesterday. kenneth craig reports. >> reporter: felicity huffman and lori loughlin made their first physical appearance in s. fans, onlookers, and reporters struggled to catch a glimpse of the stars and other parents outside the courthouse. they're accused of paying a college admissions consultant to fraudulently get their kids into elite schools. >> there are recorded phone calls and thar the render

those are some powerful hail stones. some oklahoma st those are some powerful hail stones. some oklahoma storm trackers drove through a storm last night and their truck's windshield paid the price. the hail cracked the windshield in several places. one of the trackers said that the windshield is completely toast. a teenager is claiming to be an illinois boy who disappeared seven years ago. and why robert mueller's team is reportedly unhappy. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. the "washington post" reports members of special counsel robert mueller's team have told associates they're frustrated with the limited information that attorney general william bar has provided about the russia investigation. the 400-page mueller report has not been released. barr gave congress a four-page summary on what he said were the main findings and he told

lawmakers there was not sufficient evidence to prove president trump obstructed justice. some have reportedly complained they did gather significant and alarming evidence of obstruction. "the cincinnati enquirer" reports a 14-year-old found in kentucky says he is a missing illinois boy who disappeared seven years ago. police were called to a neighborhood in newport, kentucky, yesterday. investigators say the teen told them his name was timothy pitzen and he just escaped his kidnappers in ohio and ran across the bridge to neighboring kentucky. a boy named timothy pitzen disappeared when he was 6. his mother's body was found in an apparent murder/suicide. she left a note saying timothy was fine but no one would ever find him. sharon hall lives in the newport neighborhood where the boy was found. >> seven years is a long time, a long time. and i hope -- i hope and pray that he gets some help, and

anything that this neighborhood can do, we'll do for him. >> police and the fbi are investigating. dna test results on the teenager are expected today. "usa today" says they're investigating reports of dozens of mostly young people suffering seizures after vaping. the government says at least 35 people reported seizures after using electronic cigarettes over the past decade. seizures and convulsions are known to be possible side effects of nicotine poisoning. they have reportedly occurred after users swallowed vaping liquid containing nicotine. >> outside of just the dangers of vaping, then you have the act ability to smoke anything you want in a vape, which is dangerous. i don't think pares are are of this. students think this is harmless. >> the fda says it doesn't know yet whether the e-cigarettes are causing the issue and will continue to monitor the detail.

here's a look at today's forecast in some cities around the country. ♪ a remarkable find at the bottom of the north sea. dutch salvage experts found the wreck of a 500-year-old merchant ship by accide they were looking for hundreds of containers that were knocked off a cargo ship in january during a storm. they wound up finding the oldest wreck ever in dutch waters. the 100-foot ship was built around 1540 and was filled with a cargo of copper plates. and a single mother of three children in nevada was in complete shock when her 13-year-old son surprised her with a badly needed car.
