what the crane investigators still don't know about this deadly accident. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters in new york. this is "cbs morning news." i'm anne-marie green. a woman was killed and three others were wounded after a gunman opened fire at a synagogue in poway near san diego. the shooter, 19-year-old john t. earnest, is being held without bond. he was arrested and face a hate crime charge in addition to murder and attempted murder charges. laura podesta is live this morning. >> sheriffs and police have now steppe the victims of saturday's deadly synagogue shooting. >> we love you. we will stand with you now and forever. >> one person was killed and three injured when a gunman opened fire in the middle of sabbath service.

8-year-old noya dahan was hit with shrapnel during the attack. >> she's with us. this is bravery. >> her uncle, 34-year-old almog peretz was hit in the leg. 6-year-old lori gilbert-kaye was killed. >> lori took the bullet for all of us. >> rabbi yisroel goldstein was shot in the hand and lost an index finger. >> it's a reminder how strong we are and how heroic we can be. >> this is what he told his congregation. >> we with will not let anyone or anything take us down. terrorism like this will not take us down. >> san diego sheriff bill gore identified the shooter. >> john earnest, date of birth,

6/9/99, age 19. >> his semiautomatic rifle may have malfunctioned after several rounds. an off-duty border patrol officer fired at the shooter as he fled. earnest later called 911 and surrendered in his car. and earnest will be in court on wednesday. we're hearing he may face a hate crime charge in addition to homicide charges. anne-marie. >> laura podesta here in new york. thank you so much, laura. two more bodies have been found inside a tennessee home raising the death toll to seven. investigators continue to search two homes in westmoreland where the murders took place. the suspected killer michael cummings was shot and killed saturday night after an hours-long manhunt. people living in the community were shocked to hear about what happened. >> you think out here you're safe. you feel a security, sense of security, and then whenever something like this happens that major and that many people, it's

like -- it just scares you. >> it's unheard of. >> police say a 12-year-old girl is among the dead, a&of the victims were close relatives of the suspect. the victims' names have not been released though. >> and investigators in sale are trying to figure out what caused a construction crane to fall on one of the city's busiest streets. the crane collapsed at google's new facilities. four people were killed and four others were hurt. mola lenghi reports. >> reporter: a disaster zone in downtown seattle after a crane collapsed in the south lake union neighborhood late saturday. two of the victims were crane operators. two others including sara wong, a freshman at seattle pacific university, were in vehicles that were crushed. >> shebang. down she comes. i knew what it was. i ran out the door. >> reporter: he ran outside with a badly damaged vehicle with a mother and baby inside somehow unharmed. >> very, very lucky baby. very lucky. not a mark on her.

going to pay extra attention that the cranes in seattle are safe. >> reporter: mola lenghi, cbs news, new york. police in maryland say a gunman opened fire into a crowd killing a man and wounded seven others. yesterday's shooting took place on a street in baltimore where people were gathered for cookouts. police say the shooting appeared extremely targeted, but a possible motive was not given. no suspect was named. the incident comes after baltimore's new commissioner was sworn in. and the house judiciary committee plans to threaten attorney general william barr if he refuses to testify this week. he's supposed to report on wednesday. he may skip the hearing. on "face the nation" sunday lindsey graham defined the report. >> it's over for me. he didn't collude and
