trump says it's over. and banning extremists. facebook blocks people and organizations considered dangerous. >> it makes people distrust the platform. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. well, a powerful cyclone made landfall in eastern india overnight, bringing winds of over 125 miles an hour. that's equivalent to a category 4 hurricane.gdestrun, more thana million people were evacuated along the coast before fani came ashore. it's the strongest storm to hit india in two decades, the cyclone is on a path close to the homes of more than 100 million people. so far, though, no deaths or injuries have been reported.

the evacuation is the largest in the nation's history. nearly 100,000 of those evacuated are from one city alone. officials are concerned about the 858-year-old temple. more than 850 shelters have been set up and schools and universities have been closed. in 1999 a cyclone killed roughly 10,000 in the same region. back at home attorney general barr is facing intense scrutiny from democrats after his refusal to testify before the house judiciary committee. they're threatening to hold barr in contempt if the department does not hand over the full report in the coming days. president trump says it should end now that the special counsel's work is done. he will not let former counsel don mcgahn testify before congress. laura podesta is here in new york with the latest on this. laura, good morning. pair of late-night tweets saying republicans and democrats must

come together for the good of the american people and drop investigations into hmm and the mueller report, but that plea on social media is unlikely to deter house democrats who as you mentioned are getting closer to filing that contempt citation. hours after attorney general william barr bucked a congressional hearing on the mueller report, president trump told fox news he doesn't want his aides testifying either. >> nobody has ever done what i've done. i've given total transparency. it's never happened like this. >> house democrats are ready to hold barr in contempt after the justice department missed a s&p deadline to release the unredacted mueller report. >> we can start imposinging fines on that person. in the past, we had a house jail. i don't think we're going to go that far, but the house has done that as well. >> one democrat mocked barr not being there by eating a bucket of chicken and placing a bucket of chicken in his seat.

conspiracy along with four others and an exotic dancer were also convicted. some of the evidence in the trial included a video of employees dancing around in executive dress as a giant bottle of fentanyl. several high-profile figures have been permanently banned from facebook and instagram. the social media giant is calling them, quote, dangerous individuals. jeff pegues explains. >> reporter: facebook and instagram banned conspiracy theorist alex jones, louis farrakh farrakhan, my low yiannopoulos, and other white nationalists. >> sandy hook is synthetic. >> jones' talkbook has said it was fake. facebook cited its policies against allowing, quote,

potential for tornadoes. many states are still reeling from a storm system earlier this week. in dearborn, michigan, a freeway was closed yesterday due to flooding. in little rock, arkansas, storms caused flooding, blew roofs off houses, and knocked out power. in taylor, missouri, a woman had to be rescued after her suv got stuck in floodwaters. dozens of tornados were reported across five states just this week. the trump administration is opening two new tent facilities to increase border patrol's capacity to treat and process migrant families. the tents will hold 1,000 families. occupants will have access to portable showers, recreational areas, and sleeping quarters. the facilities are set to operate through the end of the year. coming up, why a 101-year-old woman was evicted from her retirement home in the bay area.
