security makes history crossing the finish line first but still loses. good evening, i'm elaine quijano. the number of dead from a fiery emergency landing in russia has gone up. the aeroflot plane barreled down the runway speuing flames and thick black smoke. officials now say 41 people were killed and 37 hur vived. it happened today at a moscow area airport. mola lenghi has the latest wednesday engulfed in flames and smoke a russian passenger plane made an emergency lands at sheremetyevo ncialt airport outside moscow. there were 78 on board the plane. --an investigators say at least 41 of those people including two children were killed. cell phone video taken inside the cabin shows flames flairing out from the side of the plane. other cell phone video shows desperate passengers using the emergency exit slides to escape and flee from the mass-- massive

fireball behind them. there were reports of bad weather when the regional jet took off for murmansk. about 30 minutes after takeoff the plane was forced to turn back for unspecified technical reasons. officials say the plane bounced upon landing hitting its lane three times. that hard landing caused fuel to spill dousing the back of the fuse ladge. the plane's manufacturer said the aircraft received maintenance in april and the pilot had more than 1,000 hours of experience flying the plane. the airplane belongs to the flag ship carrier aeroflot, a criminal probe has been opened in moscow which is standard whenever there is an aviation death in russia. elaine. >> quijano: mola lenghi, thank you. >> israel and gaza say they are ready to escalate their attacks. the latest round of violence between the two is the worst since 2014. at least four israelis were killed by gaza rockets today and since saturday at least 20 palestinians have died.

michael cohen reports to prison tomorrow. will spend the next three years at what some call club fed. the facility is loajted in new york's catskill mountains and has tennis courts and even microwaves to heat up food. cohen was sentenced for tax evasion, laying to congress and campaign finance crimes. president trump says he will raise tariffs on chinese goods once again. the president's move means hundreds of billions of dollars in goods that are now taxed at 10% will be raised to 25% by the end of this week. errol barnett ask at the white house. >> the rain here kept president trump inside today where he voiced frustration over the year-long trade talks about with china which according to his tweets, he thinks are moving too slowly staivment change from last week when treasury secretary steve mnuchin was in beijing saying progress was being made and talks were in their final laps and the president's announcement comes day before china vice premier

and other top negotiators arrive here in washington to move everything forward. so this could be a bit of posturing or an effort by the administration to gain some leverage. remember chinese tariffs were supposed to increase the 25% january 1s. but the president announced a 90 day truce when china agreed to negotiate on trade. last year the administration slapped tariffs on roughly half of chinese imports. of that the president now says he will increase levies from 10 to 25 percent on 200 billion dollars worth of goods on friday. separately threatening to impose new tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars of untaxed goods. china says tariffs have already taken a toll on its economy, and we're waiting to see how it will respond to this latest move. previously china used countertariffs to show their displeasure with this ongoing trade dispute. >> elaine? >> quijano: errol, thank you. in florida officials face a

monumental task getting a boeing 737 that skidded off a runway out of a river. the black box has been recovered but investigators still don't have the voice recorder. here's kris van cleave. >> new video shows some of the 143 on the miami air charter flight huddled on the 737's wing moments after the plane left the runway at naval station jacksonville, coming to rest in the st. john's river friday night. >> it was total chaos. it was total mayhem. i heard children crying. i heard children crying, i heard people screaming. >> darwing silva was on the plane and shot the video. >> it felt like a sudden thump and then it was just the loudest collision crashing sound i have ever been a part of it. it almost sounded like an explosion. >> the department of defense charter flight had 136 military service members, private contractors and seven crew arriving from guantanamo bay, cuba. as they flew through stormy weather passengers reported the

their hands on. >> quijano: kris van cleave, thank you. president trump says he's not giving up on getting a nuclear deal with north korea. even though kim jong un launched air series of short range ballistic missiles. david martin reports. >> according to u.s. intelligence north korea fired off rockets and short range missiles. none of them capable of threatening the u.s. but all of them able to reach targets in south korea. kim jong un personally oversaw what the north koreans saw a strike drill. which some experts interpreted as a warning to the south for having resumed military exercises with the u.s. kim had recently met with russia president putin and secretary of state mike pompeo suggested to margaret brennan on "face the nation" that might have had something to do with it as well. >> this happened right after his visit to russia, right, right after he spoke with vladimir putin, he made the decision to take these action as. >> the drill is not violate

highest flood level since 1993. many businesses have been forced to shut down because of the rising flood waters. the number of people killed in the massive explosion at a chemical plant north of chicago is now three. illinois officials found another body today, officials say one other person is still missing. the blast on friday night destroyed the plant and sent debris flying up to a mile away. the cause is under investigation. >> in vens vens opposition leader juan guaido is trying to regroup. earlier this week he launched an uprising but that failed when the military stayed loyal to president nick lags maduro. adriana diaz takes a look at what is next in this ongoing power struggle. >> u.s.-backed opposition leader juan guaido is defending his attempts to start a military uprising. he said he ma i have miscalculated his military support. the day he called the military
