the bill also criminalizes the procedure for doctors. there is an exception if a mother's life is at risk, but there's no exception for rape or incest. marc liverman is here with more on this and what's next for the bill. good morning. total ban on abortion last i this issue an this bill. >> the republican-supported measure bans all abortion-related acts exception to preserve the health of the mother. a doctor performing one would face up to 99 years in prison. senators failed to add an objection for rape or incest.

the royal caribbean. one was a float plane trip over fiores is and glaciers. one had five onboard and overturned. the other carried 11 people landed in water but started to sink. of all the places that could have gone down, somehow nearby there was a lodge. after the two float planes collided, the coast guard immediately sprung in tow using their own boats to rescue. one person was brought up on this dock. one still image captured the intensity of the rescue. as many as ten people made it out alive, the coast guard give jacob bauer.e at was operating that plane, how is he doing? >> he's no longer with us. >> he passed away. >> yes. >> i'm really sorry. >> yeah. flying was his life, so, he went out doing something he loved.

>> reporter: jonathan vigliotti, cbs news, ketchikan, alaska. president trump is not ruling out a plan to send out more than a thousand troops to counter iran if it becomes a serious threat. david martin reports. >> reporter: after inspecting the damage done to four tankers anchored just outside the persian gulf, u.s. officials say it is highly likely the iran's hard-lined revolutionary guards are responsible for the attacks. the hole you see in the stern of a norwegian tanker is only the tip of a muchge gash that is extends below the waterline where iranian frogmen are believed to have attached explosives to the hull. none of those were american, but the u.s. wants to keep the lanes open for shipping and promises to attack anyone who threatens the interests. as 120,000 more troops. president trump denied that but not in a reassuring way. >> we have not plans for that. hopefully we're not going to have to plan for that, and if we did that, we'd send a helluva lot more troops than that. >> reporter: spearheaded by president trump's hard-lined national security adviser john bolton, the u.s. is threatening economic sanctions to throttle the iranian economy and threatens to use military force if iran strikes back. >> we have strong views on that, but that's okay. i actually tempered john, can you believe that. >> reporter: it sounds like a recipe for confrontation, and if somebody makes a mistake, for conflict. david martin, cbs news, the pentagon. donald trump jr. will appear before the senate intelligence committee next month to answer questions in its russia investigation. the committee reached a deal with trump junior after first issuing a subpoena. the interview will be behind closed doors.

lawmakers will likely ask him about a 2016 tower meeting and the trump tower moscow product. has praised john mueller's investigation into russia's interference in the 2016 election. putin said mueller had a very objective investigation and also confirmed there was no collusion between russia and the trump campaign. putin also told the secretary of state mike pompeo that he hopes the conclusion of the investigation would make it possible to begin restoring u.s./russian relations. and back here at home, president trump is downplaying the dispute between the u.s. and china as nothing more than a squabble between friends. the president says the u.s. has been treated unfairly by china for decades. he thinks things will work out, though, because the u.s. is in a very strong position. >> you know what? you want to know something? you want to know something? we always win. we always win.
