from sinking after it went down. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. president trump is expected to propose sweeping new changes to the legal immigration system. they focus on beefing up border security and rethinking the green card system to favor highly skilled immigrants. marc liverman is here in new york with why the president faces an uphill battle with congress. good morning. >> good morning. this hasn't been fully embraced by president trump's own party let alone democrats. they're hoping to hear more details on the president's plan. speaking of the peace officers' memorial service, president trump talks on congressional action on illegal immigration. >> not one more life should be lost because our lawmakers failed to secure our borders.

mayor bilssced trips in the primary state. he will hold events in iowa tomorrow before traveling to south carolina on saturday. de blasio says he will announce this week whether he will run. there are currently 23 candidates seeking the democratic nomination for president. and investigators in california say power lines owned caused the deadliest fire. the camp fire killed 85 people and destroyed an entire town in paradise and other communities. there are no details how power lines started the fire. coming up on the "morning news" now, police raid the offices of the dallas catholic diocese in a sex abuse investigation. and found alive. a toddler who vanished in the

that was great! happy birthday to the eiffel tower. paris put on an elaborate laser show last night to celebrate the monument's 130th birthday. the tower was designed for the 1889 world's fair. at the time it was the world's tallest monument. about 6 million people go up the tower every year. a toddler missing in kentucky for days has been found safe, and a raid on the catholic diocese of dallas. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. "the dallas morning news" reports police raided dallas catholic diocese after officials p said church officials blocked investigation efforts by police.

yesterday investigators took documents and such from the offices. investigators say the diocese had turned over incomplete records and made it nearly impossible for police to look into sexual abuse claims. one woman said she was abused by a houston priest as a toddler. his name is on a list of priests credibly accused of abuse. >> very intimidating. very scary. shameful. you don't know if anybody's going to believe you because you tried. it's very emotional. >> the diocese says it continues to cooperate with authorities. "usa today" says tripadvisor introduced a safety filter making it easier for users to find out which hotels and resorts have been cited for employee sex crimes. users will now be able to click through a filter on each property to see if there are any reviews with safety warnings eninvolved rapes, robberies, or people being drugged. the new safety measures come after an investigation by the

"detroitree press" revealed a cover them up.exual assaults in the "washington post" reports on president trump pardoning a long-time friend who wrote a book about him. conrad black. he served more than three years in prison. he was barred from returning to the u.s. for 30 years. the book black wrote about the president. the book was "donald j. trump: a president like no other." he also frequently writes columns praising mr. trump. "the new york times" reports on a website thatasks for people to share their stories of social media censorship and contact information. the white house tweeted yesterday that the trump administration is fighting for free speech online.

planning to delay auto tariffs by up to six months. the dow rose 115 partnerships, the s&p 500 added 16 points, and the nasdaq gained 87 opponents. president trump has issued an executive order regarding huawei. the order declares a national economic emergency. it does not name specific countries or companies. this allows the u.s. government to ban technology and services of, quote, foreign adversaries deemed to pose unacceptable risks to national security. those risks include crimes like cyber espionage and sabotage. the department of commerce has 150 days to come up with regulations. new measures by u.s. regulators could help put an end to robocalls.nt on whether to let wireless carriers block scam calls by default. right now they have to request tools from their carriers or download apps to help weed out unwanted calls.
