who was kidnapped while walking with her mother. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. a series of powerful storms have caused destruction across central u.s. there have been more than three dozen tornadoes across the united states in the last several hours. the town of ville platte about 25 miles northwest of baton rouge was especially hit hard. >> it sounded like destruction, complete mayhem. i'm talking like if trains was colliding. that's how much force and winds, trees was falling. >> in oklahoma at least two homes were destroyed after a tornado moved through geronimo on saturday. schools are also canceled today in the oklahoma city area. in abilene, texas, more than 100 buildings were damaged after a tornado touched down saturday. one of the buildings was a

nursing home where 62 seniors had to be relocated. more severe weather is expected from the texas panhandle to oklahoma. meteorologist sara robles ski is tracking the storm threat. >> the heat will build across the south and east through monday with cooler temperatures building in across the north. the contrast of these two along with energies will allow for showers and storms to erupt through the parts of the great plains. meanwhile we'll watch a front move throughout the plains to the northeast allowing storms to develop. some could be strong and severe with damages winds, hail, even the possibility of a tornado. a greater risk is expected through southern and central plains through monday. we'll be watching for millions o people to be in the path of potentially strong storms with large hail, damaging wind gusts, large tornados, and flash

flooding. expect to see 3 to 6 inches of rain. storms have been posted and they could linger for the next several days. i'm meteorologist sarah wroblewski with the cbs news. president trump has issued a stern warning to iran. in a recent tweet, trump suggested that if iran wants to fight, it will be the official end of iran. they do not want to fight. cbs ews is the only u.s. network on the ground in baghdad. roxana saberi reports. >> reporter: in its latest show of force, the u.s. military released these images showing the aircraft carrier "uss abraham lincoln" and an amphibian sub ship showing they're ready. it's another sign that the trump administration is doubling down that iran and militias are planning attacks against american forces in the region.

>> are we going to war with iran? i hope not. >> reporter: both president trump and iran's supreme leader say they're not seeking war, but in iraq, some are concerned their country could be drawn into another conflict. this shopkeeper says iraq has had enough problems in the war against isis and other wars before that. that would shatter the relative stability iraq has enjoyed since they rocked defeat over isis a year and a half ago. iraqi militia along with iran help to fight remnants against the militia state. they've warned the groups not to provoke an attack with the u.s. but the trump administration is concerned theyance to iran. adding to the tensions in the past week, the u.s. withdrew its nonessential staff from its embassy in baghdad. u.s. officials claim it's highly likely iran forces were behind

attacks against four oil tankers, a claim iran denies. and there's the potential for miscalculation or misidentification of iranian military forces. roxana saberi, cbs news, baghdad. president trump may pardon several military servicemen. they include an army green beret who killed an unarmed blackman and others who killed unarmed individuals. supporters have argued the realities of war should not be treated as crimes. this would not be the first time trump pardoned someone out of military court, michael behenna released on parole in 2014. an amendment that would change louisiana's constitution to say there's no right to an abortion is set to go before the state senate today. the move comes after hundreds of

demonstrators marched at the state capitol yesterday. the alabama law bans abortion in almost all cases. there are no exceptions for rape and incest. >> i'm not condonining rape, bu at the same time it doesn't make a life less valuable. >> we're going to continue to fight and we want everybody's help in that fight. >> alabama and others are hoping to get a conservative leaning u.s. supreme court to revisit roe versus wade. over the weekend president trump weighed in, calling himself strongly pro-life but favors exceptions. good samaritans are being credited for helping find a kidnapped girl who was walking with her mother. >> we've got her, we've got her. >> what's your location? >> forest hill.

>> salem sabatka was abducted saturday in ft. worth. police say a man in a vehicle approached them and grabbed the child. an amber alert was issued. after two church members went looking for the girl, police located her. >> i fell like a cheerleader, i don't know. i started screaming like yeah, yeah. i wasn't talking to the radio, but it was all of us right over here, and the media was over here, and they picked up on all the cameras. they knew something was going on, and that something was salem being found safe. >> police arrested a 1-year-old michael webb. he's charged with aggravated kidnapping. four americans and a navy pilot were killed when they crashed off the coast of honduras. the single-engine plane crashed shortly after taking off from a popular tourist location. rescue recovered four bodies within minutes of the crash. another victim was taken to the hospital where he later died. the names of the victims have not been released, and the crash is under investigation.

♪ after eight seasons and 73 episodes, hbo's hit series gate of tloens has come to an end. don't worry. no spoilers here, except to say there were some surprising moments and shocks in the series finale. hbo says the record-breaking show drew more than 43 million. the show won numerous prime-time emmy awards including three for best drama. a massive explosion shook an indiana neighborhood, and a debate over sending illegal immigrants to florida. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. the "miami herald" says governor ron desantis says president trump told him thousands of migrants will not be sent to the state.

it comes days after they told south florida leaders that 1,000 migrants will be sent to the area every month to ease the surge at the southern border. federal officials did say some migrant families were being moved to san diego. a plane filled with people crossing the border of texas illegally arrived on saturday for processing. >> human beings. it's so un-american. we've lost all our moral authority. it's hard for us to preach when we're not practicing. >> california is preparing for the possibility that federal agents will release some of the migrants into the community. the courier journal reports a blast yesterday morning in jeversonville damaged more than a dozen nearby homes. the explosion shattered windows throughout the neighborhood and sent debris flying onto roofs, lawns, and cars. the blast could be felt for up to five miles. >> it was a big boom with a

concussion that you could feel in your chest. the whole house shook, raised up. >> the cause of the explosion is under investigation. fire marshals say it was not caused by a meth lab. "the wall street journal" reports students in the college admissions scandal were advised to say they were minorities. the mastermind of the scream to get wealthy students into top college, rick singer, reportedly told families to say they were minorities. some listed they were black and hispanic. singer has pleaded guilty in the case. the south florida "sun sentinel" says a wooden temple built as a memorial to the 17 people killed in last year's parkland, florida, school was set on fire in a healing ceremony. the temple of time was to serve as a temporary place of mourning
