was left of their home in threthf here, a tornado touched down on missouri's capital, jefferson city. 100-mile-per-hour winds tossed vehiclomesnd buildings and scattered serval yards. >> my grandfather started his chevrolet business in 1936. we've never experienced destrukds like this. >> i almost cried. >> if you had to guess, what percentage of your lot is ruined? >> it's going to be 90%, i bet. >> reporter: there were only a few minor injuries in jefferson city. no one was killed here. >> it looks like it came right through this area. >> yeah. >> reporter: mayor carrie tergin said the tornado warnings probably saved lives. t to bed around 11:30

and heard it. >> it's amazing. >> it is. when you see some of these homes without roofs and people were able to walk away from that, it's incredible. >> reporter: it's been a wild week of weather for the southern plains with more than 175 tornadoes, eight people have died, and there has been destructive flooding. in muskogee county, oklahoma, the arkansas river continues to swell. already it's pushed two barges carrying 4,000 pounds of fertilizer, causing them to crash into the webers false dam. the county has been evacuated and officials told residents if the dam fails, it could be catastrophic. david begnaud, cbs news. lawmakers are expected to pass a $19 millions disaster aid bill. the midwest has been hit with record floods since march.

our top stories this morning, the threat of severe weather will continue this weekend across the midwest. the mi missouri, are shutting down after a powerful toerchd hit on wednesday. the airport was evacuated in anticipation of flooding. and president trump has ordered everyone to cooperate with his investigation into investigators. attorney general william barr is looking into the origins of robert mueller's probe as to whether the president's 2016 campaign colluded with russia. the pentagon has outlined possible plans to deploy more troops to the middle east to counter iran, but there is a new stark warning to the u.s.
