evidence and hindering the prosecution.e ased he was not. and the search resumes for mountain in india. yesterday the bodies of five climbers tethered together in the snow were spotted by searchers and a helicopters. the group of eight including two americans were reported missing last week. they were attempting to scale a previously unclimbed peak near india's second highest mountain. the search mission is working on the assumption that the three missing climbers are also dead. tensions continue to simmer between the u.s. and iran. iran rejected an offer by secretary of state mike pompeo to hold discussions saying no until economic sanctions are lifted. there is a u.s. aircraft carrier standing by in the region this morning. charlie d'agata got on board. >> reporter: from the deck of the u.s.s. abraham lincoln, avoiding a war with nearby iran looks an awful lot like preparing for one. we arrived to find a carrier at

region. >> the national security adviser said that sending this strike group is sending a message to iran. what is the message for you? he.we are ready, trained, ready to go. >> reporter: they may have to be. washington has already warned tehran that any attack on american forces or u.s. interests would be met with fierce retaliation. charlie d'agata, cbs news aboard the u.s.s. abraham lincoln in the arabian sea. back here at home, more rain and flooding is expected across the south and central u.s. this week as rivers continue to rise. this was the scene yesterday in moffett, oklahoma where they're experiencing record flooding. the town has been under a mandatory evacuation for eleven days. weeks of heavy rains have taken their toll on farmers across the region. some say the catastrophic weather has cost them millions.

"politico" says house democrats are moving to hold attorney general william barr and commerce secretary wilbur ross in contempt over a census question. the two have defied subpoenas seeking information about efforts to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census. democrats argue that including it would result in an under

count of people who live in areas with high immigrant populations aiding republicans political prospects. the commerce department says 14,000 pages have already been turned over to the oversight committee. "the washington post" reports the house has passed a $19 billion disaster aid bill that president trump is expected to sign. the legislation will help speed relief funds to communities hit by tornados, wildfires, volcanos, drought, flooding and other disasters. it also includes money for puerto rico, which is still rebuilding after hurricanes in 2017. the hill reports a judge rejected house democrats' attempt to block president trump's use of military funds f. a trump-appointed federal judge handed the president the legal victory ruling the house failed to show it has standing to pursue the matter in court. mr. trump issued a national emergency declaration this year to use pentagon funding to start construction at the border, but last week a ruling by a

creating his own record label in 1996. on the cbs money watch now, a major data breach at a medical lab and possible pushback following tariff threats against mexico. die an king hall is at the new york stock exchange with that and more. good morning, diane. >> the major u.s. indexes ended mostly lower yesterday following word the federal government has opened an antitrust investigation into big tech companies. facebook sank 7.5%, google's parent company alphabet lost 6%. checking the broader masrket, te dow edged up four points, the s&p 500 fell seven points and the nasdaqab tumbled 120. senior mexican officials are warning of retaliation if the trump administration imposes tariffs on its exports to the u.s. president trump says he will impose a 5% tariff on mexican goods beginning next week to pressure its government to block

migrants from crossing the border. a high level mexican delegation is in washington this week for meetings with u.s. officials to try and reach an agreement. and quest diagnostics says as many as roughly 12 million patients may have had their personal information exposed in a security breach. now, the company says one of the billing collections firms it works with alerted it last month that an unauthorized user got into its system and accessed private information. the information includes credit card and bank account numbers, medical records and social security numbers. quest says lab results were not exposed. it says an investigation is underway to determine the extent of the breach. anne-marie. >> another day, another breach. it's like weekly we're hearing something like this. >> that's right, like a broken record on this one. >> diane king hall at the new york stock exchange. thanks, diane. >> you got it. still ahead, back on track. a star athlete is free to compete, at least for now following a new court ruling.

today marks the 30th anniversary of the brutal crackdown on pro democracy demonstrators in tiananmen square in china. hundreds, perhaps thousands were killed. secretary of state mike pompeo has called for a full accounting of what happened, but as elizabeth palmer reports, china is more interested in wiping it from history. >> reporter: on june 4th, 1989, weeks of demonstrations in beijing's tiananmen square ended in mass murder. cbs cameras recorded chinese soldiers shooting unarmed civilians, most of them students. wu'erkaixi, one of the student leaders survived but had to flee into exile. >> i am a survivor of a massacre. >> reporter: a massacre no one talks about in china. posing as tourists, we went to tiananmen square, a landmark

good morning, it is tuesday, june 4. >> darren warned us, he said this heat wave is coming, and here it is. >> just one day later, the temperatures i was talking for him and locations now look a little bit hotter than they did just yesterday. 96 will be showing up for some inland spots. first, let me get you ready and out the door. we aren't all going to the mid-90s today and we certainly aren't there now. the numbers now are in the low 50s for san francisco, but it is 60 already in livermore and 57 in concorde. even though it is dark, i will tell you, there are far fewer low clouds this morning that we had not only yesterday but for the last week. for the city, officially today, we go to 72 degrees. that's the coolest number in the forecast besides the coast.
