over alameda suspect search lg for a suspect in a burglary and chase and shooting in officers. i'm kenny choi. >> i'm michelle griego. jackie ward is live at the scene with more. >> reporter: that alleged burglary and reported shooting happened in hayward. that ended up leading to a chase that ended here in oakland in the neighborhood of 106th. that's where police have been focusing the search efforts for a suspect for hours. police from hayward, oakland, and freemont looking for a person they believe was involved in i aburglary in hayward. it happened around 12:45 this morning near an industrial part of the city. the police got on scene and the suspect allegedly started shooting at the officers. it's unclear if officers fired back.

no officers or bystanders were hurt. two suspects supposedly jumped in a car, starting a pursuit through hayward and ending at 106th in oakland. that brings us here to where authorities have been for nearly 12 hours. one of the suspects was arrested and the hunt remains for at least one other suspect. ban croft is back open to northbound and southbound traffic. linc is closed starting here until sunny side. police have not said when the area will reopen to traffic. a homicide investigation is underway after a man's body was found near the roadway off skyline boulevard. authorities closed the area in both directions indefinitely. mckayla maroney has more from the scene. >> reporter: and the good news

is that they just reopened skyline boulevard, which is a heavily traveled boulevard in san mateo county. even the discovery of the body happened by chance. there are a lot of questions right now. and a murderer on the loose. the man's body was found on the side of the road just after 11:00 last night. investigators closed down skyline and spent the morning looking for clues. a san mateo county deputy was on a patrol here on the preserve and made the gruesome discovery. >> located a male off the side of the road in the area. and began an investigation. . >> reporter: teams from the c crime lab were sent to the scene while people who live in the area were told not to open their doors to anyone who might knock unless it was law enforcement. they're hoping someone might call them with clues.

>> if anyone was in the area and heard or saw anything, contact the sheriff's office. >> reporter: and at this point, no word on how this man died nor how long his body may have been here. live in san mateo, mckayla maroney. an and investigation after a deadly shooting on 680 forced a five-hour closure across all lanes this morning. it happened around 10:00 last night. the chp says a driver in his 20s was found dead inside a car. no word of suspects or a motive. and investigators out in union city after a violent explosion sent two men to the hospital last night on elizabeth way around 8:00. firefighters say the family of five was storing two large canisters inside the home. one was leaking and led to the explosion. three people escaped unharmed.

in a couple of hours supervisors could vote to ban the sale of vapes products. other officials are on board. the goal is to protect children. san francisco based joule voicing support in protecting kids. but they argue the ban goes too far. and a big crowd is gathered in orlando waiting for president trump to arrive for the official 2020 campaign kickoff. nicole killion reports from the battleground state of florida. >> reporter: about 20,000 people can fit in amway arena and they're predicting record crowds to surpass that. some supporters spent the night outside of the arena. >> i'm hoping that he's in for another four years.

the news is sending the stocks higher. the dow is up about 369 points. and i'm emily turner. new at noon, google making a big time pledge for bay area housing. it will invest $1 billion to help tackle the crisis. it will repurpose $750 million of its land as residential housing. right now, most of it is zoned for office or commercial sfas. google says the change will enable to it to support the development of 15,000 new homes, including options for middle and low income families. the second part of the plan is to establish a $250 million investment fund to provide incentives for developers. the goal is to build 5,000 affordable housing units across the market available in the next few yearings. and it will give $50 million in

. a new jersey man is at least the eighth person to die on vacation in the caribbean nation during the past year. mola lenghi reports. >> reporter: joseph allen's family says he traveled to the drr frequently and was in good health. he was there last week with friends who say he was complaining about being hot at the pool. he went to take a shower and lie down for the night and was found dead the next day. at least seven other americans died in the dominican republic in the last months -- 12 months, most from hard heart

attacks. his father died from heart and respiratory problems last june. have his remains bought back here and have an american autopsy done. >> reporter: and tourist groups reporting concerns. five members of an oklahoma high school group staying at the hard rock became ill. and more than 40 jimmy guf buffet fans became ill. allen's family is trying to get his body back to the united states. we continue to wait on the fbi toxicology reports on the three deaths that occurred on the island in may. the u.s. embassy says at this point, there is no proof linking the deaths. health experts say heart attacks are the most common form of death for americans on

vacation. new at noon, boeing just got a promising deal the sell its troubled 737 max planes. the company says this is the first sale since the ethiopian airlines crash in march. international airlines group announced it plans to buy 200 of the jets. they would be delivered between 2023 and 2027. the 737 max was the best selling jets and slowed production since the grounding. president trump's plan for tariffs on chinese goods is expected to impact the holiday shopping season. tariffs would add 25% to the import cost of productses, including gaming consoles, toys, and cribs. of facebook is unveiling a crypto called libra. the challenge is con vertds it to cash. it can be used at places that
