county. and new information in a deadly work place shooting. santa clar county investigators looking for a motive after a gunman opening fire at a car dealership. i'm michelle griego. >> and i'm emily turner. the gunman killed two employees and turned the gun on himself. it happened at the ford store in morgan hill. jackie ward was at the ford dealership where it happened and spoke with employees who described the shooting at surreal. >> reporter: throughout the morning, employees of the dealership past and present have been stopping by here to see what's going on. they were reeling from last night's shooting. the dealership is closed today. but the man who delivers the ford employee's bagels didn't get word today is not business as usual. >> it's sad. it's like a family in there. i don't know. it happened to me, you

know? >> reporter: larry is a part-time employee trying to retrieve items he left behind yesterday. he was minutes away from being caught up in the chaos. >> maybe it's a sign of the times. it happens all over and you never think it will happen in your backyard. and i wonder whether it's luck or something that i wasn't right in there. >> reporter: sources confirm steven leet was reportedly the shooter. he's described as a quiet man in his 60s. >> a quiet individual. minded his own business. humble to himself. he did his job. >> reporter: the ford store released a statement saying, we are devastated by the loss. thank you for the community who has come together with us. crime scene cleaners were here this morning. around 5:00 this morning, we watched what we believe to be the suspect's car taken away.

officials have not released the suspect or the victims' names. we hope to get an update today. here's a look at the suspected shooter's home in san jose. police were staked out. the s.w.a.t. team went in around 4:30 with a search warrant. they broke down the door and threw in the flash bangs. the street was blocked off. a live look outside at san francisco. you may be feeling drizzle and light rain this afternoon. we're tracking the weather. >> how interesting has the morning been? we started out on the morning show today around 7:00 looking out and it was sunny and i was showing you the clouds approaching and light rain through the late morning. and we have. and here's the live look from the camera over the golden gate bridge. at 6:00 a.m. this morning, that was a clear, blue sky.

this is a beefed up marine layer that got help from a system coming into the north. we felt the after effects of a storm to the north. look, san jose, you're not seeing this at all. we look at the live doppler, the sweeps are so high in the atmosphere, it's not picking this up. if we switch to the high resolution models, this is 10:00 a.m. this brings us ahead through the rest of the 10:00 hour, yes, a few light drops of rain. check the rain gauges across the area and none of them registered anything. i wouldn't be surprised if you noticed a couple of drops in it. it will come to an end and we'll get to sunshine by sunset. i'll show you how that plays out and what this means for the cool temperatures. different feel today from yesterday. chopper 5 flying over emeryville where a fire damaged

multiple homes, leaving six people including a minor injured. mckayla maroney is live at the scene. firefighters are still putting out hot spots. >> reporter: yeah. and investigators trying to fire out how the fire started. it's not suspicious, but it did damage. most of it in the back of the buildings. of the six people that you just mentioned that have been injured, three are still in the hospital this afternoon, including a six month old baby. chopper 5 got a view of the fire fight from above. the fire started in one home around 8:30 and quickly spread to two others. >> the neighbors were yelling and i could hear some crackling and popping. >> reporter: sending the people who lived in the buildings scrambling for safety. >> basically jumped out of bed and grabbed the pets and got

out. >> reporter: they made it out to front door and were injured from smoke and burns. they are expected to survive. the challenge for firefighters, the old construction. and the proximity of the buildings. >> it just traveled via the fence and the decking and the carports, which attach to all the residents. >> reporter: the spider escaped with her owner and the cat. they were in one of the two homes where the fire spread. at this point, they don't know how much damage was done. >> i don't know if my unit caught on fire. i'm fair certain of smoke and water damage. >> reporter: back live, you can see the firefighters are on scene and they will be throughout the day to make sure the fire doesn't reignite. as for how many people live in the buildings, they don't know. they were divided in several different units and apartments with the roommates. the estimation is between 15 and

20 people between the three buildings without a home at least for tonight. live in emeryville, mckayla maroney, kpix5. and take a look at these images captured by residents near the fire scene. you can see the clouds spreading through the sky, black smoke at times. we got a glance at a firefighter at the top of one of the damaged homes trying to contain the flames. this look from the sales force tower camera today, you can see the magnitude of the two-alarm fire. smoke in the skies just miles away. and new video of a growing grass fire. it's near the town of patterson. cal fire is calling this the rock fire. so far, it's burned about 1,000 acres and 15% contained. no structures are threatened, at least at this cuthe fire accesst night in the western side of the

county. the winds pushing the flames toward i-5. for now, it's burning in an unpopulated area with lots of dry grass. >> upon arrival, firefighters were met with extreme fire behavior. the fire ran quickly up the ridge and deep seeded itself in a couple of different drainages. >> 200 firefighters battling the fire and hope to have it contained by tomorrow. the stage is set for the largest debate ever of democratic presidential hopefuls. so many candidates, it will span two nights. laura podesta is live in miami ahead of the show down. laura? >> reporter: going into tonight's debate, elizabeth warren is clearly the front runner. that means the nine other candidates are going to be looking to make a splash. the only problem, they don't have a lot of time to do that. ten presidential hopefuls take the stage in miami tonight,

looking to separate themselves from the pack of more than two dozen candidates battling for the democratic nomination in 2020. >> a lesser known candidate, you have to make a mark in the debate. it will be a predicate for fund raising and media attention. >> reporter: the participants include elizabeth warren, cory booker, and new york city mayor, former texas congressman beto o'rourke, and castro. they will try to convince voters they should challenge president trump in 2020. they will have 60 seconds to answer questions and 30 seconds for follow ups. >> the opportunity for a candidate to break through is pretty slim. you won't get a lot of time. >> reporter: senator elizabeth warren leads the polls among tonight's debaters. she sees this as a chance to

g-20 summit. he left joint base andrews a couple of hours ago. while in japan, he plans to meet with the chinese president to talk trade. he threatened to extend tariffs on chinese imports and investors are hoping the sides come to a resolution. and robert mueller soon headed back to capitol hill to testify before congress. he agreed to testify publicly on july 17th. this is in response to a subpoena by house democrats. they have questions about possible obstruction of justice described in the report. as well as about more than 100 contacts between the trump campaign, their officials and russia. >> he reluctant to testify and it was necessary to issue a subpoena. he has agreed to comply with it. >> the white house is not expected to challenge the new

round of questions. they want republicans to question him as well as. and democrats voted to subpoena kellyanne conway. she's accused of repeatedly violating ethics laws that prohibit employees from engaging in political speech on the job. two florida deputies fired over inaction in the 2018 parkland school shooting. this comes after an internal review. two other deputies fired earlier this month for neglect of duty. one was school resource officer scott peterson, also arrested for child neglect, negligence, and perjury. >> after we take that totality of facts, it became clear to me this duty. one of the most severe consequences as we lost 17 people. >> seven deputies were the

. new at noon, warriors star kevin durant declined the $31 and a half million player option for the upcoming season. starting sunday, be an unrestricted free agent. this is according to espn. he suffered an achilles injury in game five of the finals to sideline him for all of next season. still, he has options. he could resign with the warriors for a max five years and $221 million. and he could sign with another team for up to four years and $164 million. only. let's take a look at the big board and see how the stock

market is doing. the dow is up 38 points right now. the list is out of california's dirtiest beaches. four are right here in the bay area. out of the top ten most polluted, lindamar is third. and in ninth place, keller beach. and coming in last, aquatic park. the report is based on levels of harmful bacteria. >> okay. let's talk about something better. the weather. >> yes, please, on that pleasant note. let me show you something else going on in the natural world. look how cloudy it is from the camera over oakland from the airport looking back at the city. it's cloudy in oakland. cloudy for much of the bay, but not all of it. to the south, you couldn't ask for a bluer sky than this. a few clouds down to the south.

and the camera in dublin, some clouds are far enough inland, you can see the break in the distance. there's not a lot to this. it looks impressive right under it. but it won't last long. if you see if there's any meaningful rain with this, there isn't. maybe a few light drops or could get a light drop of two over the next hour and a half, but it's not much. watch how fast this goes away. the clouds disappeared by 5:00. late afternoon and then heading toward sunset, we're going to clear out. it will look different at the later part of the day. the next wave of clouds tomorrow, we'll clear out today and futurecast tomorrow morning, look what's back. the deeper marine layer redevelops and higher clouds. watch what happens here tomorrow afternoon. this is thursday, 2:00 p.m. not only marine layer.

a higher batch of clouds making it look stormy again. it won't be stormy. just a few light showers. late thursday night, it clears out by friday. and underneath the clouds, it's cool out there. those were yesterday's daytime highs. look how much cooler today than yesterday. 14 degrees cooler in santa rosa. cooler in san francisco, a 3 degree drop. those are the actual highs for the day. the seven-day forecast, today and tomorrow, with the clouds, those are the two coolest days. as soon as the stuff clears out like friday, we'll start warming up. good looking forecast for the weekend. warmer, but not hot. not luke a heat wave. low to mid 80s inland. great forecast for pride if you have plans to head out there. low 70s through the city a great weekend for it. >> that is great news. emily and i will be at the
