anne makovec and santa rosa where the priest served most recently. >> reporter: this is sending shockwaves through resurrection parish in santa rosa. here is the picture of the man accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from his church. father oscar diaz. he served roast recently as pastor here and santa rosa rosa. the bishop said he had been stealing from the diocese for the past 15 years. was discovered about a month ago when the priest got into a car accident. emergency responders filed several bags of money in his car. they were the securities bags used for parish collections and inside of them $18,000. depressed found another $77,000 in cash. the bishop said it was stolen through a variety of means with said police topolicies here the diocese would make criminal

prosecution difficult. the bishop goes on to say that this is one of the most emotionally draining and difficult situations i've ever encountered pichai recognize oscar diaz has been for me and perhaps many, a loved and trusted priest of the diocese of santa rosa. he also said there were, and our, a whole series of emotions ranging from fierce anger to sadness, to confusion, shock, and fear. more about father oscar diaz. he was born in mexico. he is 56 years old. he was ordained in 90 for. he celebrated his 25th anniversary as a priest earlier this month. that is where the car accident father deas suffered a fractured hip and unrwent surgery and is recovering. the bishop said that diaz has admitted to the crimes. he said he thinks facing the public is punishment enough. but he is leaving it up to some of the individual parishes if they want to pursue criminal cases. ventanne makovec

, kpix 5. a deadly train collision in alameda county. chopper 5 flew over the scene in livermore where police say and a strained the else killed a woman in her car at the junction and lad avenue. in these pictures, you can see the front of the car caved in as crews investigate the area. it happened just before 8 a.m. leaving train passengers stranded for nearly 90 minutes. police officer say the lights and crossing guards were all working at the time of the crash. i'm emily turner we just have gotten word into the newsroom that fiscal police have made an arrest in a fatal hit and run accident that happened two years ago. this is the suspect. her name is eleasia fraise. she was taken into custody on the 16th charged with a laundry list of crimes including a warrant with hit and run for injury gross vehicular manslaughter, arsene to commit conspiracy and driving without

and not 22 as earlier stated. activists say this is the 14th fatality for the year in the city involving pedestrians and cyclists. the plan to protest this afternoon to pressure the city to declare a state of emergency for traffic safety. emsa morning commute for drivers on the east bay freeways and alameda county. a car caught fire and block lanes on a 80 for about 30 minutes. it happened near tennyson road in fremont. no word on what caused it. also in alameda county, a five acre blaze burned along the center divider 580, just after 5 a.m. it is now fully contained. nobody was hurt and the cause of the fire is under investigation as well. in contra costa county, a brush fire burning near highway 242 and 680 caused several lanes to shut down in concord. it took crews about 20 minutes to knock down the flames. all lanes have been reopened.
