even managed to stop at a red light at an intersection. he said the fuel system onboard, was not injured. the air force is addressing the problem of suicides, and rapper a$ap rocky was in court. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. our partners at the bbc report american rapper a$ap rocky testified at his assault trial in sweden. the singer said he did everything possible to avoid a confrontation in stockholm in june with two men who he said kept following his on ter auj. in an audio recording of his testimony, rocky described the incident. >> we were like, please, leave us alone. we don't want to fight. so to not provoke anything, we attempted to walk away. when we walked away, we were fo >> rocky said one of the men picked a fight with one of his bodyguards.

the rapper and two members of his entourage are accused of beating a 19-year-old man. they've pleaded not guilty. they've been in jail since july 3rd. a u.s. envoy has been sent to sweden to monitor the case. "air force" magazine reports the mama reens are ordering a ere's more than thime d-down to last year. >> we lose more airmen to suicide than any other single enemy. even more than combat. >> the air force says the day off from training will allow units to discuss mental health issues. the "san jose mercury news" reports the survivors of sunday's mass shooting at the gilroy garlic festival in california say their lives will be altered forever. a 19-year-old man killed three people and wounded 13 others. he was killed by police.

five victims remain hospitalized. 26-year-old gabriella gaus was part of the crowd running away from the gunman. she was grazed by two bullets. >> he was like over my left shoulder, and i saw him with the gun, and i was like -- i just likestair stared, and he start rapid-firing, and i said, okay, let's go. >> she was discharged on sunday. she says she hopes to regain her trust in peopling but for now it's lost. katy perry will have to pay cr christian rappers. perry will have to pay. yesterday the jury handed down the damages. perry will have to pay $550,000 and capital records will pay $1.2 million.

month. the news triggered a tumble on wall street yesterday. the dow closed down 280 points, the s&p 500 dropped 26 points, and the nasdaq dropped 64 points. on the earnings front, they include chevron, exxonmobil, and ferrari, honda and fast food giant brandts. lowe's is laying off thousands nationwide as it outsources work to other companies. the home improvement chain claims it will allow mark workers to spend more time on the sales floor serving customercustomer s. lowe's declined to say how many pleas would be affected. mackenzie bezos is now amazon's largest shareholder following the divorce from jeff bezos. she now holds a 4% stake in amazon now worth more than $37 billion.
