tariffs. back to you. and a live sme scorcher hite bay area. mary lee with where to expect the hottest temperatures. . >> inland, we are watching the temperatures rise. the hottest temperatures so far this summer today and tomorrow. with the heat, a heat vooid ri for all inland locations because of the extreme and dangerous heat. temperatures in the mid 90s for the afternoon highs to the triple digits. some of the hottest spots 105, 106. and tomorrow as well. and that is why the heat advisory continues tomorrow. the air quality is unhealthy for sensitive groups. and clerk out the highs. well above average for this time of year. san francisco, looking at 80 for a high. oakland, 86. 96 san jose. concord, 106. and 12 to 18 degrees above average for this time of year.

and just to talk about how people are trying to get some relief from the heat, let's go to ann at a cooling center in walnut creek. >> reporter: there are cooling centers open all to try to beat the ht. >> we try to get the workout in early and stay indoors after that. >> reporter: some people don't have the choice. >> it gets real sweaty out here real fast. >> reporter: this electrician tries to stay in the shade and fighting the urge to call an early day. . the thought does cross my mind. you got to get the paycheck. >> reporter: for many people, summer living is strategic. >> i have a system. >> reporter: try to burn off the kids' energy at the park before the mercury swells. >> once it starts to warm up, we go to the library and there's story time there.

pull over another driver. it happened around 7:20 this morning. chopper 5 was over the scene. the officer attempted to make a stop in the car pool lane and another vehicle sideswiped him. the vehicle is said to be a dark colored sedan. the officer suffered minor injuries and is expected to be okay. the driver of the car stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. the westbound lanes of the bay bridge are now open. and you can see traffic is still slowly making its way through. and an update on shots fires in rodeo. three people were taken to to hospital with gunshot wounds. the shooting happened around 1:00 this morning. it is unclear right now if any suspects were apprehended. police are expected to release more information later today. an attempted traffic stop became a fatal crash in san

jose. chp officers tried to stop the car for suspected dui. the driver sped away and the vehicle was found crashed in a light pole. the driver was immediately taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. but the passenger died in the crash. and another crash in santa rosa left the city with a big, wet mess. several cashes crashed at the intersection this morning, shaving off a hydrant and sending water gushing on the road. fire crews jumped into action to cap it. and big waterworks in a neighborhood. a car slammed into a hydrant shooting water in the sky. and meanwhile, back to school to students in gilroy. >> thousands of students back in class. the new school year comes as the community continues to grapple with the garlic festival mass shooting. three people were killed on july

source with knowledge of the investigation tells cbs news corrections officers may have falsified reports that they completed required check ins on jeffrey epstein and he was left unmonitored for at least two hours. cbs news learned the day before, his cell mate posted bail, leaving him alone in his cell in the special housing unit. and now the fbi wants to review footage of the area epstein was held. it's unclear how he allegedly hanged himself. >> this is not acceptable. >> reporter: gloria allred criticized the detention center. . >> i'm tired of the system failing women. and they failed these victims, these child victims. >> reporter: earlier this week, fbi agents raided e's prive id in the caribbean, reportedly seizing computers. it's unclear who will gain control of the estate. his younger brother is a

possible beneficiary. . and back in the bay area, the stanford blood center is low of blood and making a plea for people to step up and donate. stanford had a drop in donations this summer and they are accepting all blood types. they need type b and o blood to go to ston stanford to schedule an appointment. and monday, the cdc confirmed ten new cases of measles. with kids returning to class, many fear the outbreak could worsen. vaccination rates decreased over the last two years. >> jackie ward is in san jose with a look at what the experts are recommending.
