good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news head quarters in new york, in for an marie green. nearly three weeks after mass shootings in texas and ohio. the position on tougher gun control legislation remains unclear. yesterday he said gun deaths in america constitute a public health emergency but stopped short of offering a clear proposal on how to address the issue. in new york. laura, how is the president respondinging to criticism over his stance on gun reform? >> reporter: the president says changes are in the works but going to done, he's not goingre to into detail about what those are and what he's willing to change. outside the white house yesterday president trump tried to clarify his stance on gun control legislation. >> we're working on background checks.
