newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. the u.s. coast guard has rescued four crew members trapped after the ship capsized off of georgia. they were pulleded yesterday afr being stuck inside the ship's hull for more than 30 hours. laura podesta has more. laura, now that these men are out, what do we know about their condition? >> hey, good morning, anne-marie green. all are described as alert and in relatively good condition. they were all able to walk with assistance but as a precaution all four were taken to the hospital to be checked out. cheers erupted as the final crew member climbed out of a capsized cargo ship monday evening. >> that is amazing, the best day of my career. >> coast guard rescuers pulled out three others earlier in the day.

sorycove a mistake by in an email noaa's top scientist olof the integrig what may be the email was in reaction to a press release friday backed by president trump that hurricane dorian could hit blame hard. after the president made those comments, the national weather service in birmingham, they tweeted, alabama will not see any impacts from dorian. hurricane dorian's death toll in the bahamas has climbed to at least 50. the storm hammered the islands last week. thousands of people remain missing, and relief efforts are still under way. in north carolina water service has been restored on ocracoke island. many remain without power as generators, food, and other supplies are only arrives by ferries.

last night president trump expressed his sympathies for storm victims while at a campaign rally in north carolina. >> the prayers of our entire nation are with the citizens of north carolina, south carolina, path. >> forecasters continue to watch three other disturbances brewing in the atlantic. so far tropical storm gabrielle and two other systems are not a threat to land. the taliban this morning vowed to continue fighting against u.s. forces in afghanistan. the announcement comes after president trump said talks with the insurgents were dead. he said it was his decision to plan and then call off secret talks with the taliban at camp david. mr. trump says that he ended the talks because of last week's bombing in kabul that killed sergeant first class ellis barreto. there were also concerns over whether the taliban had agreed to even attend the camp david meeting, a move many lawmakers

and critics were unhappy with. >> they should not be allowed just not on the united states of america, but they especially shouldn't be allowed in such a place of honor when you think about all the history of camp david and the role that it plays. >> the talks would have been head this week ahead of the 18th anniversary of 9/11 which led to the invasion of afghanistan. north korea launched two projectiles off its east coast early this morning. this is according to officials. this is after they promised to resume talks with the u.s. their regime has conducted ten launches since june including today's. most of those are believed to be short-range missiles, and experts say they have shown technological advancements. the launches happened after a nth carolinian diplomat in pyongyang said they would be

open to resuming talks with the u.s. later this month. the british have formally suspended the parliament. the move comes after a bid by prime minister boris johnson who called for a snap election that was time. >> to everybody on the opposition bench, if you really want to delay brexit beyond october 31st, which is what you seem to want to do, then vote for an election and let the people decide. let the people decide if they want to delay or not. >> lawmakers will return on october 14th, a little more than two weeks before britain is due to leave the european union on october 31st. the fda is accusing juul of illegally marketing its vaping devices as a safer alternative to cigarettes. the agency senn a warning letter to the popular e-cigarette brand saying the company violated regulations. the news comes amid growing health concerns specifically among teens.

worried about safety and decided to extract the informant. the "los angeles times" reports usc athletic director lynn swann had to resign. the former pro footballer stepped down from the job yesterday. there have been questions about his leadership and role in several scandals including the recent college admissions scandal. swann was also criticized for keeping the head's football coach after the team went 5-7 last year. and "the boston globe" says red sox legend david ortiz threw out the sayre moanial first pitch at last night's game. it came three months after he was shot in the dominican republic. ortiz jogged onto the field at fenway park before the red sox game, and later he spoke to the crowd, thanking fans for their prayers and support. the 43-year-old former slugger was shot in the back at close range by a hired gunman in june. doctors had to remove ortiz's gallbladder and a part of his intestine. still to come, dangerous

cbs cares. here's a look at today's forecast in somecities around the country. california passed new legislation that will ban pushing students out of school for disruptive behavior. among the items on the bill, students cannot be suspended for falling asleep in class or talking back to the teacher. california already prohibits suspensions for students up to the third grade, but the new law extends a permanent ban up to grade 5 and temporarily

>> reporter: google's advertising practices and dominance in online searches are under investigation by attorneys general in 48 states as well as washington, d.c., and puerto rico. the bipartisan group made the announcement in front of the supreme court. >> when there is no longer a free market or competition, this increases prices, even when something is marketed as free. >> reporter: there is concern the tech giant is behaving like a monopoly, stomping out or buying out rivals and that it holds a sway in the digital advertising market. >> the overwhelming number of query responses relate to google businesses and/or advertisers that pay for that slot. >> reporter: the attorneys general say small businesses with smaller advertising budgets lose out, and so do small states whose residents rely on products and services they find online. >> we like wide open spaces, and we like competition as well.
