least 32,000 customers in napa county will lose electricity. cities like calistoga, napa and lake baretta may be in the dark. >> the blackout would turn off power for dents in major cities like vacaville, vallejo and fairfield. now, the threat is also reaching the south bay. >> more than 38,000 customers could be affected in san jose, sunny vale and palo alto. alameda county, nearly 33,000 customers will be forced to go without power, including parts of oakland, livermore and berkeley. oakland unified school says that ten schools could lose power and could be forced to close. men lo park, san mateo and half

wind event that we have seen so far this season with dry gusty offwinds. here is a look at the dublin cam. you will be under that red flag warning by tomorrow morning as well. red flag warning from 5:00 a.m. tomorrow until 5:00 p.m. thursday, for the north bay mountains, the east bay hills, north bay and east bay valleys. that's because of northerly to northeasterly winds, 20 to 30 miles an hour. gusts up to 45 to 55 miles an hour and that does mean an extreme fire danger, critical fire weather conditions, potentially dangerous fire weather conditions. wind advisory will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. wednesday until 3:00 p.m. on thursday to the north bay mountain, east bay hills and diablo range. could be some power outages and downed trees possible. future cast taking you hour by hour and when we expect to see the peak wind gusts coming up.

kenny? >> thank you, mary. two years ago today, strong winds and dry conditions sparked the fires. more than 6000 homes were destroyed, 44 people are being remembered. the warning carries extra significance. most of the fires were blamed on the utilities' power equipment failures. at noon, police and peace activists are gathering right now to discuss ways to stop gun violence. kpix 5 ann markovitz has more. >> reporter: it is guns down. there are people trying to take a holistic astretch to stopping the violence. the bay view is known as one of san francisco's toughest neighborhoods. while gun violence has been decreasing in the city. >> we are looking for better solutions and outcome. >> reporter: police chief bill scott is mopping those here to

here tomorrow in the presidio tomorrow. oakland, richmond and san francisco have all seen fewer gun deaths overall in the last ten years. capitol hill police and the fbi were busy near the supreme court today after multiple reports of suspicious packages, but they determined that there was no threat. natalie brandt reports this came on a big day for the big court hearing land mark cases for lgbtq rights in the workplace. >> police cleared two suspicious packages at the supreme court as the justices began to hear arguments in closely watched cases concerning lgbtq rights. demonstrators from both sides of the tee bait gathered as the session got underway. >> this is about the american dream, about having the freedom to own your own journey. >> one case involves gerald bostock who was fired as a child welfare service coordinator in georgia after joining a gay softball league.

this is 2019. we should not have to be having this conversation but that's why we are hearingle gearing our efforts to the united states supreme court. >> tuesday morning's oral arguments involve a sky diving instructor in new york who says he was fired after telling a client he was gay. two questions for the court to decide is whether title vii of the 1964 civil rights act extend workplace protection for sexual orientation and gender identity. >> the gender identity case says that amy stevens was fired from a trout funeral home after telling the opener she was trans gender and plans to transition. >> the thing that hurt most is that they never even wanted to see the transition. >> reporter: attorney john burch represents the owner of the funeral home. >> he was applying a strict tress code that the federal

& electric co announcement that it will shut down, agencies have collaborated effectively in our efforts to prepare for this new emerging dynamic. in addition, as we know, the national weather service issued red flag warning conditions expected tomorrow. we have taken some very practical steps to ensure that we are prepared for any eventual allity. some of those steps include implementing roving patrols effective tomorrow through the end of the event in addition to the normal patrols that we would normally perform with our existing staff. we are upstaffing. we're going to rely in part on a lot of mute our aid assistance in the way of almost 20 plus different units. we'll provide response upon request if need be for any event that may occur. we made a request through the california office of emergency services for pre position units

cases. www.acalert.org. thank you. so it is automatic hand on deck. you heard from the police chief ann kirkpatrick and the fire chief. >> they say this is unprecedented. mary lee, you have been tracking conditions all day long for the next several days? >> that's right. we are tracking one of the strongest events we have seen this season, possibly even one of the strongest wind events since back on october 2017 when we had the north bay wildfire. so really watching the critical fire weather conditions as the winds will pick up, starting tonight but especially as we head through wednesday and for thursday which is why red flag warnings are in effect for tomorrow morning into thursday and wind advisory. let's get right to it. under clear skies, the diablo range under that red flag warning and wind advisory. temperatures right now cooler compared to yesterday at this time because of that onshore flow kicking in. already, we started off the day

with that patchy fog along the coast and already still seeing that this afternoon across the golden gate. a few areas of fog. so, right now, in concord, looking at 81, oakland, 70, 80. upper 60s in san francisco, upper 70s in san jose as well as santa rosa. winds, right now, looking at light conditions with that onshore flow. we'll see the winds start to ramp up starting tonight. here is the satellite and radar view all because of this low pressure system dropping a week cold front our way. a dry front and that is why temperatures are cooler. now, this low is going to through a portion of the great basin, what we call the inside slider and we'll see gusty conditions as we head to the next couple of days. for tonight, again, the wind will start to pick up but watch as we go through wednesday night and into thursday. that's when you will see the peak wind gusts at 10:00 p.m. on wednesday and strong winds, even on thursday morning. so that's when we'll see the strongest wind gusts wednesday
