welcome back. we're following some breaking news down in southern california. this is in the pacific palisades neighborhood down in l.a.. you can see in these live pictures all that smoke near the homes. firefighters are battling this blaze from the ground and from the air. homes are still being threatened. we're hearing reports that some owners were using their water hoses to try to fight off the flames and all that smoke. these are close to some of the homes and the firefighters in the picture trying to battle the blaze. we'll follow this story throughout the day. >> a last minute settlement with four major drug companies today as a trial over the opioid epidemic was t gin io. cbs reporter looks father deal just reached. >> reporter: word of the 11th hour deal between four drug companies and two ohio counties emerged just as opening arguments were set to begin before the judge in the u.s.

we'll see warmer temperatures but all over this will be hot, dry air that brings with it the risk of fire danger and it is also going to be warmer pretty city much for everyone of us. that warming trend will not only happen in the inland area us est but to the coast, as well. that big heat up is beginning today. then the offshore flow is already in affect but really it strengthens by midweek. when we see the risk of fire is ahead. they have not issued a red flag warning but we will be checkingk in on the national weather service to keep an eye on that. 84 in concord. you're well on your already. 70 along the coast and 81 in san jose. sunset tonight 6:24 p.m. sunrise tomorrow at 7:2 5:00 a.m. looking at our seven-day forecast you can see the temperatures are hot. ware pushing into the 90s bay midweek. this is the fire danger wednesday into thursday.
