charges in separate cases. they escaped from their cell in salinas and have been back in jail. >> we'll find out everything we can about how did they get from -- everyone wants to know how they got from salinas to mexico. we'll do what we can to find out. >> here's the look of the cell that they escaped there. >> they discovered a blind spot where officers couldn't see. and they had an escapees year. they ditched their jail jumpsuits and disappeared. >> they thought they cornered salazar in monterey county at the motel 6. s.w.a.t. teams moved in. after a stand-off that lasted into the evening, they discovered the room was empty. since the escape on sunday, they say there's been three

security improvements made to the housing unit where they escaped. these guys will now be taken to a new unit once they return this afternoon and will be housed separately. and now escape charges will be added to the list of felonies they're facing. kenny? new at noon, the attorney general is announcing he's taking legal action against facebook. i've been looking into allegation that is facebook violated california law by among other things deceiving users and misrepresenting its privacy practices. he filed and ordered the check tech giant to go back to 2015. they are requiring facebook to release documents involving cambridge analytica. in june of this year they served a second subpoena to

facebook claiming that they violated data privacy laws. they say it's been inadequate and there are no answers. and votes are coming in for one of the tightest races. under the first and second place votes there was a razor thin margin of 230 votes. the battle between her and jason tense. the mayor appointed as acting district attorney, he's a public defender who represents poor people in criminal cases. while he has more than 2,000 raw votes more, he's holding on to the lead and we spoke to boudine just a couple of hours ago. >> we're in the lead in terms of first choice votes, we have a bigger margin than people

expected. it will favor us when the outstanding ballots get counted and this was said: in the mayoral race, with more than 69% of the vote, mayor london breed will be keeping her title, and there will be an opportunity to have a full term in the leader of san francisco. she's cleaned up homeless cities, and she needs more in the homelessness issue. some of them are hard fought, and this is the 2020 contests had this years. they lead the republican governor by a 5,000 votes. the race is too close to calm.

resonating in the suburbs. back in the bay area, the arunda city council is banning unhosted short term rentals. the vote won't happen for two weeks. they have two years to impose a permanent ordinance. dozens packed the meeting last night which began a moment of the silence to honor the five gunned down at a halloween party. and power is being restored to residents, they're using generators to bring back electricity to the island. it began at 2:30 in the afternoon when they reported a problem with a substation in oakland. they used backup generators where they could find out what went wrong. they had to shut down the generators overnight and 9 missouri this morning, it's the 11th power outage on the island this year.

ambushed here. mexican authorities say they've arrested a heavily armed person who may be connected to the attack. the suspect was found two bound captives in the car, but the persons involved in the massacre of three women and six children are unclear. some were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, a drug cartel may have targeted the victims. >> three vehicles with women and children in broad daylight, there was no mistaken identity. >> six children were hidden in the bush and he woke 14 miles for help. the victims belong to a bake away group associated with the mormon church. their history dates back generations. they live in a small community with dual mexican u.s.

consumer reports takes the complaints seriously. at&t is shelling out $60 million settling a federal complaint after being accused of misleading customers. they offered unlimited data to customers, they say they began slowing down the transmission speeds in 2011 and that forced customers to upgrade to a more expensive plan. at&t will offer partial refunds to be the 3 and a half million and current customers affected. a spokesman said none of the allegations were proved in court. he said we were fully prepared to defend ourselves, but decided settling was in the best interest of consumers. crews broke down on the tallest tower, this will have 875,000 square feet of space and likely be suited for one or
