this is kpix5 news ch now at noon, and streaming on cbsn bay area. rain showers and cloudy case around northern california and even storm mer conditions are on the way. good afternoon. everybody. i'm michelle griego. messy weather right now after a wild weekend of rain and wind. here is a live look at san francisco and san mateo. meteorologist mary lee is tracking the conditions for us. >> michelle, keeping a close eye on high def doppler as ware still tracking the rain showers across the region. first a live look with the pressure treasure island camera. raindrops on the camera. you can see light rain for the north bay, san rafael through the bridge and for the east

bay, showers pushing across the bay bridge into emoryville and alameda. heavy rain to our south from mojgan hill down to gilroy down 101 into hollister. heavy rainfall there. tracking the wind. we're looking at 18-mile-an- hour winds in san jose out of the southeast and 8 in oakland. 10 in san francisco. 17 mile-per-hour winds in valeo. 13 for antioch. through the afternoon looking at scattered showers, temperatures it upper 50s for the coast, the bay and low 60s inland. hour by hour as we head through the rest of today and the week ahead on futurecast. we're not done with this wet weather just yet. michelle. >> all right mary, thank you. early this morning, in san jose, drivers dealt with wet rows. the rain coming downpayment so heavy at times, water was pooling on the streets. difficult conditions yesterday in the santa cruz mountains along highway 17 with cars

spinning out and mudslides. meantime at the san jose regional medical center, heavy rains overloaded a water pipe. workers rushed to keep everything dry. a service elevator was shut down but patient care was not affected. meanwhile, in the sierra, the roads are wet and slushy creating hazardous driving conditions around tahoe. authorities are telling people to slow dunn and be aware of snow removal equipment in the area. new at noon, we are following a school shooting in wisconsin where a school resource officer traded gunfire with an armed student. police responded to the high school a round 9:00 this morning. police say the student pulled a gun in class and refused to drop it. a school resource officer and the student exchanged ot studenwi the gun person injured incident. police say they are not looking for other suspects.

as president trump goes to london to meet with nato leaders, it is shifting to the judiciary committee. natalie brand has the latest from capitol hill. >> reporter: president trump called the impeachment inquiry a hoax as he headed to london for a nato summit. >> this is one of the most important journeys that we make as president and for them to be doing this and putting an impeachment on the table which is a hoax to start off with. >> reporter: the house judiciary committee will hold a hearing wednesday with constitutional experts discussing the grounds for impeachment. the president's lawyers were invited to question the witnessnesses. >> we're certainly hoping that the president, his counsel, will take advantage of that opportunity if he has not done anything wrong, we're certainly anxious to hear his ex plan nation of that. >> but last night the white house's lead attorney sent a letter to chairman jerry nadler declining the opportunity

calling it a baseless and highly partisan inquiry. >> this is a complete american waste of time right here. jerry nadler and the rest of them have gotten in their mind, they are writing the articles of impeachment. the house judiciary committee is finalizing a report what it discovered during the impeachment week's long investigation. >> they interviewed more than a dozen witnesses and democrats say their testimony says the president abused his office. >> the president decided to pressure a foreign government to target an american citizen for gain. >> the members will review the ray port this afternoon and are expected to vote on it tomorrow. >> natalie brand, cbs news, >>j hold multiple public hearings and then consider art the cals of impeachment. if approved that would set up a house floor vote before christmas. >> there was a rally outside

the supreme court as the justices took up the first case on gun rights in nearly a decade. at issue is a new york sy handgun regulation that put tight limits on licensed gun owners ability to transfer firearms outside the home. gun rights advocates and the gu protesters argue the nation is still reeling from mass shootings over the summer. >> london bridge is open again after the stabbing attack. we're learning more about suspect and victims. they were killed. they were cambridge university graduates. he was attending that event before lee went on the stabbing spree. he was convicted of plotting a terror attack back in 2012 and was released from prison early. now state officials are calling for tate ter controls on released prisoners. for some witnesses last week's

next day at your office. tracy fulfillment center and 1 million square feet. you can put 28 football fields in it and there are 3,000 people working here with tens of millions of products. in this area over here, this is where the trucks arrive carrying the raw products from all over the world and then they are loaded into these amazing little robots. we'll walk over here. so this area here is called the picking station. if you get a close look at these robots, they are awfully automated and they are containing all the different products that people have purchased. you can see they have different things people bought for the holidays. as they come into this area and completely cruz around here by themselves. they come up to this area called the picking station and this young lady is the picker. she has got the orders on her

screen there. all the merchandise comes in and she makes sure they are going in the right bins then they come to this area here where you can see there are 20 miles of conveyor belts in this one building and they take the conveyor belts down to a boxing area where it is all boxed up and sent back to you. so this is kind of how these things happen here and the only reason any of this works, but we're now joined by molly wade, of amazon. these are the kinds of things people are buying. what are the things people thefer to buy on a day like is? th most popular items are things for kids. we have great deals on toys and clothes and devices, amazon devices, fitbits, garments; all those fun gadgets and fashion. we have gifts for all the folks

%fo concord police shot and killed a 60-year-old man accused of attacking his own parents. police respond today a call from an elderly couple yesterday morning. they said their son was attacking them with a knife. police shot and killed the suspect at the scene. the victims were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. an investigation is still under way. >> on storm watch today, parts of the country are being hit by a major winter storm from the northeastern seaboard to the mid wes. cold temperatures and heavy snow are really coming down. we start off in the northeast. the region is seeing its first major snowstorm of the season. the cold snap presents a danger for drivers from pennsylvania new york. newyork state police responded to more than 500 storm related

weather pattern through the workweek and a strong storm system. our next storm arrives on friday for heavy rain, wind and could see an isolated thunderstorm as the cold front pushes flew by the end of the workweek. here is the satellite and radar view. keeping that unsettled weather going for us. an atmospheric river aimed at the central coast. that is why they are seeing the heavy rain. hour by hour here we are at 4:00 p.m., scattered showers through the evening as well. for tomorrow morning a wet start to the day. a little drier by tuesday in the afternoon. then watch as we head through wednesday morning. another wet start on wednesday morning. now, through wednesday looking at anywhere from a tenth to maybe about 3/4s of an inch of rain to an inch of rain. >> sunsat 4:50. sunrise 7:08. there are daytime highs. in per 50s to low 60s.
