rainfall pushing from 101 to petaluma and nova toe. you can see about 4 inches of rain coming down. and some spots, even an inch quarter. for the east wakes over concord, walnut creek as well for for berkeley and oakland, you are getting that wet weather still across the bay bridge. even from across the bay. cupertino, putting this in noaa motion, you can see that circulation around the pressure system. you'll get more chance to see scattered showers as we head through the afternoon. here we are, stopping the clock at 4:00 p.m. i will let you know what to expect for the commute, when we catch break and when the next storm system rolls in. right now, that rain is making it very tricky on the road. this is a look at the bay area. you can see that speeds are mostly in the green but the north bay is seeing some problems. take a look at this. 101 southbound, seeing a lot of

speeds, slowing down in that area. that is where the rain is really coming down right now. speeds heading in about 30 miles an hour. as commuters head to the bay bridge, can you see a big slowdown there on 80 east. once you get to the bay bridge toll plaza, this is what it looks like. this is sort of a parking lot right now. not something that we see midday, but that's what we are seeing right now. you certainly have to be careful if you are heading outings especially because those roads are wet. kenny. >> the wet roads are making it a challenge to drive on. this is a big crash. anne makovec joins us. >> the on and off rains have been a problem for drivers all along the bay area all morning long. with another big storm system underway, it is best to keep your guards up when you hit the road. >> rushing in the rain is dangerous. almost caught up here. >> a pair of collisions

involving seven vehicles shut down several lanes of northbound i-280. at least two people were injured. rescue crews had to use the jaws of life to free them from the crumpled vehicles. it happened before 5:30 a.m. as steady rain fell on the busy freeway, a factor that can be made worse by unsafe behavior. >> we see people speeding, following too close, making unsafe lane changes, driving distracted. >> and then there is the risk of hydroplaning when drivers panic and hit the brakes. >> that's the wrong thing to do in that situation. that will induce a lack of control. >> the right move, press on the brakes -- continue driving until you get traction again. that system is expected to last most of the weekend.

in south san francisco, anne makovec. the rain is contributing to problems on southern california roads today. a semi-truck crashed into a side rail in east los angeles and was left dangling. the driver was not hurt but the road was shut down for a couple of hours. >> stay with us as we monitor the active weather throughout the week. you can always find updated forecast on our website, kpix.com and we are streaming on cbsn bay area. 20 more sexual assault victims are coming forward in lawsuit against lyft. they say that ride share company won't cooperate when it comes to disciplining predatory drivers. lyft deliberately concealed sexual assaults committed in it vehicle, the lawsuit says. they say that lyft allows the drivers to be driving for the platform even if the victims speak out. >> they don't care about their customers. they only cared about their

damaged his reputation. oakland zookeepers and visitors are mourning the loss of a beloved elephant. here is video from her 50th birthday party just last september. she showed no health issues other than an advanced age. elephants live to about 17 years old in capital cityivity and she was the third oldest elephant in the american zoo association. she will be remembered for her gentle and kind nature. police officers in san jose are partnering up for a special assignment. more than 200 elementary school students shopped with a cop. each student read a $175 gift card to buy presents for themselves and loved ones. officers want to make sure that kids in their community grow up with trust for people behind the badge. >> we want to make sure that kids know that we, as police officers are part of their community and we are proud of them and prout proud of what

for you can especially in the north bay. you are getting that rain. even some heavy downpours pushing across santa rosa. 101 into it louima. checking the rainfall rates, impressive amounts, more than an inch and a quarter coming down an hour. let's show you across from the east bay, from con court, pleasant hill, as well as for walnut creek. and tracking that wet weather for this south bay, from milpitas and near the san jose area, east foothills and sunnyvale. s u n nyvale. you can see the light to moderate rain. you can see temps running in the mid-50s. livermore, you are coming in at 50 and 57 for san jose. as we head through the afternoon, looking at scattered showers, that will continue for this evening as well. so could be a wet evening commute with thlopressure

still managing around for us we that unsettled weather. if you look ahead tonight into tomorrow, mainly dry, although a few spotty showers are possible. we are looking to catch that break in between storm systems for tomorrow because that stronger storm arrives for friday. that will bring heavy rain and strong winds. possibility of some isolated thunderstorms. there is that low as it continues to push inland for us. that's why it's been a wet start to the day and we'll continue with wet weather. here we are at 6:00 p.m. you can see some more showers lighting up our radar screen. mainly dry with mostly cloudy skies but a few isolated showers are possible and then watch as the rain moves in for your friday. again, you could see heavy rain as well as some strong winds. as we go through today, through friday and even into saturday, anywhere from a half inch to as much as an inch half to two and a half inches, we'll see the winds pick up for
