bought with money stolen from americans. captioning funded by cbs good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. we begin with a wild police chase in south florida that ended in a hail of bullets that left four people dead. police chopper video captured the incident yesterday. at least 20 officers were pursuing a u.p.s. truck. authorities say it was carjacked by two suspects who fired at police. the exchange of gunfire ended as quickly as it began. marc liverman is here in new york. it was a quick exchange of gunfire, but it was deadly, marc. >> reporter: it really was. and on top of the two victims who were killed, police said a jewelry store worker was also injured, but they didn't say if she had been shot. so far they haven't said what condition she's in. the video we're about to show you absolutely chilling to watch. [ sirens ] bystanders scrambled for cover

as law enforcement in south florida engaged in a deadly shoot-out with two robbery suspects for more than 20 seconds. [ gunfire ] >> the suspects are now deceased, but two additional innocent civilians were also deceased. >> reporter: police say the two suspects first robbed a jewelry store 20 miles from the final scene. >> officers responded within a minute and a half. within that minute and a half, the subjects exchanged gunfire with the proprietor who also fired back. >> reporter: during the attempted getaway, they hijacked a u.p.s. truck and kidnapped the driver. they then led police on a chase through two counties, eventually getting stuck behind a wall of vehicles at a red light. >> as you can imagine, this is going to be a very complicated crime scene. as well there's multiple other crime scenes. >> reporter: the driver of the u.p.s. truck and a person sitting in a nearby vehicle were killed in the shoot-out. it's unclear whose bullets killed them.

sources tell wfor in miami that 19 officers fired their weapons. >> so this is going to be something that we're going to be collectively spending a long time to try to piece together. >> reporter: wfro says the u.p.s. driver is frank ordonez. u.p.s. says the company will be cooperating with authorities. police say during the robbery a bullet hit a window at coral gables city hall which was locked down. no one inside city hall was believed to be injured. anne-marie? >> marc liverman in new york. thank you so much, marc. three soldiers from the minnesota national guard were killed when their black hawk helicopter crashed. the chopper went down yesterday in a farm field 60 miles southwest of st. cloud. the helicopter was on a maintenance test flight. it was from the guard's army aviation safety facility in st. cloud. investigators say there was a mayday call about nine minutes after takeoff. the identities of soldiers have not been released.

to washington where speaker ncy pelosi says the house will draft articles of impeachment against president trump. meanwhile, another public hearing is scheduled for monday. natalie brand has the latest from capitol hill. >> reporter: the impeachment case against president trump accelerated on thursday. >> today i am asking our chairman to proceed with articles of impeachment. >> reporter: in her announcement, speaker nancy pelosi argued the facts are uncontested that the president withheld military aid to ukraine for his own personal gain against his political rival. >> the president has engaged in abuse of power, undermining our national security and jeopardizing the integrity of our elections. >> reporter: the house judiciary committee could begin drafting articles of impeachment as soon as next week. that sets the stage for a possible full house vote before christmas. president trump says he's not concerned about impeachment staining his legacy.

hill. democratic presidential contender mike bloomberg is also weighing in on the impeachment investigation into president trump. nursing home. as jeff pegues shows, the accused will likely get away with it. >> reporter: it looked like a scene out of the "fast and the furious." russian hackers burning up the streets of moscow in $200,000 cars. videos and photographs released by investigators show the alleged hackerts living large, posing with arms full of cash, and showing off a pet lion cub. the two men including the leader who calls himself aqua are charged with trying to steal hundreds of millions of dollars from people and companies around the world. bob jones is with britain's national crime agency -- >> we estimate that at least 300 different organizations in 43 countries have been affected by these attacks. >> reporter: the targets of the hackers range from a school district in pennsylvania to an assisted living facility run by the franciscan sisters outside chicago. will these victims ever get their money back? >> the targets range from a school district in pennsylvania to an assisted living facility run by the frantic an sisters

in a new report, uber says it received more than 3,000 sexual assault complaints in the u.s. in 2018. that figure includes 235 relationships. -- 235 rapes. uber said the attacks involved both drivers and riders, and some occurred between riders. customers took about 1.3 billion uber rides last year. the report is part of the company's effort to be more transparent about its safety record. a ceremony at pearl harbor will go on as planned. and r. kelly is hit with new charges. those are some of the headlines on the "morning newsstand." "the new york times" says r. kelly is facing new bribery charges linked to his marriage to the late singer aaliyah. new york federal prosecutors say kelly bribed an illinois official to get a fake i.d. for an unnamed female in 1994. the charges allege it happened one day before he secretly tied the knot with aaliyah who was 15 at the time. falsified paperwork had her listed as 18.

the marriage was later annulled. kelly's attorney called the latest charge ridiculous and absurd. "usa today" reports a blind death row inmate in tennessee was executed last night. 53-year-old lee hall died by electric chair. he was convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend nearly three decades ago. authorities say that he had chosen the electric chair over lethal injection. it is the fourth time the state used the method since 2018. "reuters" is reporting the world health organization is outraged over measles outbreaks around the world. officials say measles infected nearly ten million people in 2018 and killed 140,000. children make up most of those deaths. rates of outbreaks are stagnating around the globe and misinformation is partly to blame. an ongoing outbreak of the measles in the south pacific nation of samoa has infected

more than 4,200 people. it has killed more than 60, mostly babies and children. the "washington post" reports a pearl harbor commemoration will go on after a deadly shooting at a military base in hawaii. a navy sailor shot and killed two civilians before taking his own life on wednesday. a third victim was wounded. a motive remains unclear. heightened security is expected for tomorrow's ceremony. it will pay tribute to the more than 2,300 americans who died in the japanese attack on pearl harbor 78 years ago. and this morning, we're learning new information about the gunman who carried out a deadly attack at the pearl harbor naval shipyard. jonathan vigliotti reports from honolulu. >> reporter: a 22-year-old active duty sailor was in uniform when he fired his service weapon and killed two civilians working for the department of defense before shooting himself. a third civilian shipyard worker was wounded and take to a local hospital. >> they're not letting us out.

rather to provide medicare recipients with dental, vision, and hearing benefits not currently covered. while the bill is expected to pass the democratic-controlled house, experts say it has virtually no change in the republican-run senate. there's debate over a drug that claims to be the first medication to slow alzheimer's. biogen says it deserves serious consideration by the fda. biogen stopped testing the drug this year after determined it wasn't effective. yesterday the company says new evidence the drug can possibly slow alzheimer's by removing harmful plaque from the brain. boeing is trying to convince industry officials that its 737 max will be safe when it once takes flight again. the plane maker invited union officials and other insiders to its seattle headquarters for meetings, factory tours, and flight simulator rides. boeing has made changes to a flight control system implicated in two deadly crashes.

managing editor norah o'donnell shows us, it reveals a new side of the civil rights icon. >> reporter: on december 5th, 1955, thousands of african-americans began walking to work in montgomery, alabama, boycotting city buses to protest segregated seating. that protest was sparked by one woman -- rosa parks. >> i didn't feel that i was being treated as a human being. i refused to give up the seat. >> reporter: "i had been pushed around all my life," she later wrote, "and felt at this moment that i couldn't take it anymore." that letter is part of a new rosa parks exhibit here at the library of congress. dr. carla hayden is tht br parks' writing in her own hand, a clear, bold cursive about her feelings, how she struggled. and then how she knew it was the
