now at noon, and streaming on cbsn bay area, a fire displays seven people who were scatting in this red tagged oakland warehouse. i'm kenny choi. michelle is off today. the people living in that warehouse claim that they had the owner's permission to live there even though it was deemed unsafe. kpix's jackie ward says they blame the own der for what happened. >> the fire department tells me this warehouse had been red tagged multiple times dating back all the way to april because of the horrible conditions inside. there were no working smoke

detectors or springs lers. this started burning around 2:30 this morning and grew big fast. inside large piles of debris, a lot of furniture, fencing and trash. >> the people that lived here said the owner allowed them to live here. >> he encouraged you to live here. >> he said don't relax. everything will be fine. >> he said just wo y.wait until everybody is gone. you can live here until noveer or through march. >> he said this is his stuff not theirs. >> trash walls to obstruct your path to safety. to blind your view of smoke. >> they said it was barely in habitual table but user was better llhan outside. >> mill tim areas had collapsed because of a prior fire and they never brought the building up to y the electrical,

plumbing, everything was bad. >> is taxing for the city to keep red tagging the buildings but it is necessary to keep people safe. >> in light of what happened wint the ghost ship incident, i would not consider this to be the same. the city has been more pro active with warehousing and illegal squatting and things like flat. >> the red cross are taking care of wo people. one left the scene and one is in the hospital. we reached out to the building's owner and yet to hear back. and here is another look at the warehouse from above from chopper 5. we have learned that the person in the hospital right now is a pregnant woman who was on the second floor when the fire started. she is being treated for minor burns. a traffic alert in the east bay, a box truck overturned here closing three lanes of 680 north in pleasant hill. this is just north of monument boulevard. you can see the traffic backed

up. at this point there is no estimated time for the lane toss be reopened. there will be a candlelight vigil on sunday to remember three students killed in a crash on christmas. twin brothers mark and michael and two others died when the car that they were in swerved and crashed into a tree and a power pole in pleasant peloton. three were thrown from the car. they are recovering at eden medical center with major injuries this afternoon. at this point chp does not believe alcohol played a factor but they haven't ruled speed out yet. >> sunday's vigil will be at 5:00 at dublin high school. >> two were transported thcar fire a round 7:00 this morning on balfour road near heritage high school. emergency crews found two vehicles off the roadway. one had rolled over and was on fire. new video showing the chaos

at a pair of malls. police and security working to stop a series of fights involving 200 teenagers. this started last night around 5:30. several big fights broke out in the parking lot of the webers town mall. the teens then moved onto the sherwood mall which was also put on lockdown. no arrests have been played so far. one person was taken tonight hospital. new at noon, i-5 through the grapevine is back open after a shutdown made travel a nightmare from northern to uthern california. snow had piled up in the mountains. jamie yuccas has more on the storm that caused big problems onfl anthe 30 miles of las vega blanketing the area. >> normally it takes us 30 minutes. it took us about an hour just going slow following people.
