am feeling. >> reporter: the poverty simulation is organized by the nonprofit sunnyvale community services. it is meant to offer a window into the lives of working-class families in the community. >>they are going through a rapidfire experience of what it is like to struggle to be one paycheck away from potentially losing your home. >> reporter: adding a layer of realism to the exercise, current and former homeless men and women play the role of employers, social workers, police officers and others. >>i was homeless myself, and then i got housed and am working two jobs right now and i am on the verge losi mhousing >> reporter: in addition to building empathy and understanding, organizers hope the exercise will encourage people to support policies that strengthen the safety net for people, just one paycheck away from homelessness. >>i want people to start to

come together as a community. ultimately community is what compels it. this is the eighth year they have done up poverty simulation. the u. s. census bureau is wrapping up recruiting efforts for the 2020 sentence. the oakland census office held an event this afternoon to talk to potential applicants. today folks learned about temporary jobs and how to apply. the oakland census office is hiring field supervisors and takers and there are thousands of jobs available. >>especially for the bay area in california when folks complete their 2020 census. >>census only happens every 10 years and it helps to determine the congress and how they can spend funds on schools, hospitals, things of that nature. it is a great opportunity and i am glad to be here.

the three men came into the safeway store just after midnight yesterday and broke thass door to get into the pharmacy. authority say one man had e a g and yelled for employees to get on the floor. police say the suspects got away with an unknown amount of narcotics. a man is recovering after being shot during a laptop robbery in north oakland. police say there were reports of a shooting at a bus stop in the 6100 block of adeline just before 9:30 last night. the victim was found in the 800 block of stanford avenue. he was listed in stable condition saturday. police have not released information about a suspect or suspects. >> a east bay teenager got the scoop and leaked results of the new iowa poll on twitter before it was officially released. he spoke with the dublin high school student on how he did it. in general the media has a lot of issues, the cnn part of it. >> reporter: that is where this

showing up on doppler radar. if we examine this map closely you can see there is not much. however doppler will be lit up, not like a christmas tree but like a shooting star by a few showers later for the north bay. there is rain on the way for part of the bay area, mostly focused on the north bay. that is later tomorrow. for now there is a look out at the cerulean blue sky. numbers are reflecting the fact that it is a gorgeous day. after a brief brush with a week cold front the numbers in concord 57, oakland ditto in livermore 54, san francisco the same. we are in the mid-50s a little chilly, but it is january. here is a big view from space. here is what is happening, low pressure, you can see where the high is, out to the west far out to the west. as you can see some week

systems are going to spill into california, seattle will be getting snow in the upcoming week. for us, the north bay, tomorrow and later tomorrow showers will move into the area. everyone else will have partly a mostly cloudy skies. we will broadbrush this essay the numbers will be good numbers, 56. it will be partly, partly unless you're in the north bay. on the future cast you can pick out the spotty nature of those showers. tonight fairly clear, fog will form and then things cloud up tomorrow morning. more clouds in the bay area. look at how the rain evaporates. i noticed this over decades long doing weather in the bay area. many of these systems come out of the golden gate bridge. they refused to pay the toll and by the time they are set there's something magical, they just give up. northbay we will get scattered showers south of the golden gate not much. we will have more clouds tomorrow than tonight.

there skies tonight with a few clouds. northbay showers tomorrow, later tomorrow otherwise it will be dry for the rest of us. then we get more rain coming in, a stronger system comes in on wednesday and even stronger system yet will come in on thursday. in the meantime tonight, the numbers will be at 37 for napa, livermore 40, 44 at mountain view and 43 in redwood city. forecast type tomorrow right in the mid-50s for most of the bay area. it will be a chilly night and warm the summer comes 55 in hayward, 56 union city, 57 in morgan hill. over on the east bay it will be dry tomorrow, temperatures in the mid-50s plenty of clouds. sunday will not live up to its name, again north of the golden gate we will have showers tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow evening the rest of the area could get a few showers as

well, 58 degrees 57 in santa rosa and 55 degrees in mill valley. dead certain up in chile, ukiah and lake worth you will get rain tomorrow afternoon. the forecast a few showers around monday and tuesday it eases up, then wednesday a stronger system comes in and on thursday we get rain thursday, friday and saturday partly to mostly cloudy skies. then we get a break from the rain on thursday in fact we get a break right now. there we tried to get the politicians
