live from the cbs bay area studios, this is kpix5 news. super bowl sunday. we have live coverage all morning long. [ no audio. ] the death toll in the coronavirus. the latest numbers coming up. and the first vote to the white house passed tomorrow. this morning, why some voters say their minds are still not made up. just about 6:00 a.m. on this sunday. [ no audio. ] that is the main headline about today. super bowl sunday parties.

if you have some outside in the backyard, that could blow away, gusts up to 30 miles an hour today. bay area wide, hasn't started yet though. let's get you ready for sunday morning if you're ready to step out the door. that is live look at things off to the east. the temperatures now are much like you remember them yesterday at this time. that means upper 40s and low 50s. in other words relatively warm out there now. over the next couple of mornings that goes away. tomorrow morning, tuesday morning, many of these numbers will be down into the 30s. some of them will be in the low 30s. it is about to get cold in the mornings. as far as visibility for this morning, if you're in napa or east bay, visibility down to less than a mile. give yourself a little extra time. just a quick look ahead to the wind gusts. near 30 this afternoon. i'll play that out in more detail in the full forecast but the takeaway. wind advisory started at 4:00.

[ laughter ] hey guys. you may have the beach right now, but i have fresh coffee and that is going to be needed because it is going to be a long day. we're at the floridian restaurant here. you can see everyone fueling up on their breakfast before the big game tonight. we have seen a lot of 49ers's fans and it is not surprising because we're in ft. lauderdale which is nick bosa's hometown. i got to hang out with lis mom this week and i asked her what it was like raising rookie of the year.

>> reporter: well, i was hoping that you would see that story. hopefully, we'll get it back up. then you can see it. she was really amazing and it is so funny, because she said she not only raised nick but she raised joey, his brother. he is in the nfl and he said all she ever did was cook and she continues to cook for them because in the offseason, they come overall most everyday asking mom for dinner. hopefully, you see that story soon. we are going to continue our super bowl liv coverage coming up.

>> ine san francisco, fans an businesses are gearing up for the game. merchant hotels have ordered 300 pounds of chicken wings for the super bowl watch party. the executive chef said they ordered three times the amount of alcohol it normally would for a sunday. the hotel is transforming its entire second level and having more screens for fans. >> i imagine san francisco will below ing up in here and it will be fun, loud, crazy and people can sit down and other

outside overcloy into. a 44-year-old man died in the philippines. he was traveling there from wuhan china and china is reporting 300 deaths now. it has sickened 14,000 people. a student at the university of massachusetts boston tested positive after traveling to the center of the outbreak. he has been placed in isolation but the newt is rattling lis fellow students. >> it worries me that we don't know how long he has been here, has he gone to classes. we don't know what to do. >> anyone who came in contact with him, we're working on that situation. >> this is the 8th confirmed case of coronavirus in the u.s.. that included one here in santa clara county announced on friday. the patient got sick after returning from the wuhan last week. he has been isolated and health officials say the risk to the public is low. >> coming up in the next half- hour, how air force bases across the country and one near

the bay area are preparing in case the outbreak spreads. >> now to a deadly fire in walnut croak. a man was killed early yesterday morning after a fire swept through his condo. nearby residents were evacuated and damage was contained to the one unit. it burned. the victim has not been identified. no one else was hurt, but we are told that the victim's dog was injured. in critical condition after being shot three times outside the high school. police say a group of students had been fighting in the parking lot after friday night's basketball game between deer valley and antioch high. it is a 16-year-old student and so far no arrests have been placed. >> another sideshow caught on camera in san francisco saturday night. our photographer got caught in this mess between 26th and 23rd streets. several cars were out doing stunts and we even spotted low

riders cruising down the street as people decked out in 9ers gear watched on. of course we reached out to san francisco police but so far no word yet on any arrests ch now to campaign 2020. tomorrow is the big day in iowa. the first votes will be cast in the 2020 election. democratic candidates making their last minute pitches this weekend. natalie brand is following the action in iowa. >> reporter: the democratic senators running for president are back in iowa for the critical final hours of campaigning before monday's caucus us. the impeachment trial sidelined the senators but campaign events carried on without them. some star sudded. sanders supporters like chris jeffrey who caucused for the senator in 2016 are energized again. >> the support shows he has become much more than a dark horse candidate now. >> reporter: a tight race between candidates viing to take on president donald trump

hill after a lively vote friday to wrap up the impeachment trial. senators voting not to call anymore witness. the final impeachment vote is scheduled for wednesday afternoon. president donald trump will give his state of the union address the night before. tens of thousands of football fans in miami. this morning ahead of super bowl liv. cbs correspondent on the mags serve current ty team keeping an eye on them from the sky and sea. >> reporter: it is a stunning host city, but miami brings a whole host of unique security challenges. we went airborne with customs and border protections air and marine team and agent todd gail. >> what are the challenges of securing a place like this? >> first we're surrounded by water so it is really important that we have our marry time out patrolling looking for any threats that might come to the super bowl. >> it is critical to monitor

activity not just down below but up here. >> above hard rock stadium the faa will restrict air station and they will look for unauthorized aircraft including drones. some of the helicopters are equipped with infrared cameras that can spot people on the ground and in the stands and they can transmit those live to the com manned center. >> reporter: here they have tons of tvs but they won't be watching the game. >> this gives access to thousands of cameras throughout the county that we can tap into if something is going on. >> reporter: this year super bowl ventures are scattered. three locations. hard rock is 123 miles from the convention center where the super bowl experience is taking place and a concert venue downtown. >> that means additional fencing and screening of everything and ever rip one that goes inside is happening at all locations. inspections are also ramping up on the water.

the coast guard is establishing security zones along biscayne bay and at port miami agents are on the lookout for drugs and contraband including counterfeit super bowl souvenirs which are already popping up. >> while patrols are being beefed up on the water, officials do say at this point there are no known credible threats against the game. there is another concern, the coronavirus. health officials have set up a quarantine station at miami's international airport as a precaution. cbs news, miami. okay. back here at home today, in the forecast the wind is number one. i'll show it again here. there is a wind advisory for the entire bay area. we could see gusts hitting 40 miles per hour through the afternoon today, but in addition to that it is about to get a lot colder. let's start off with right now because we'll do this as a comparison. it is not all that cold out there right now. a live look back to the city.

if we look at the current numbers these are relatively warm. we're still in the low 50s in a lot of places and we have mid- to upper 40s. 48 santa rosa. 53 san jose. those are warm for this time of day. i'll advance this to tomorrow at this time. see how much deeper blue the map has gotten. look how much lower the numbers are. 31 tomorrow in santa rosa at this time. 39 in oakland. 36 san jose. so plan on monday morning feeling cold. very different than it does right now. in fact, we're going to get close to records. take a look at the next five mornings including sunday into monday 39. tuesday we'll hit 38. in oakland the record morning low for tuesday's date in oakland is 37. so we're close to records here. that is one of the warmer spots. santa rosa will be 30 on tuesday morning. for san jose we'll get down to

33. the numbers like inland contra costabile see numbers get about that low. wind for today, i want to advance this into the afternoon. these are top gusts so by the time we have gotten to 10:00 a.m., gusts to the upper 20s to near 30 and it will stay that way through the remainder of the sunday afternoon and evening. by the time we get to monday when the cold air filled ter in here. we are starting to see the winds lighten a bit windchill. those go along with the windchill factor. the wind advisory is allowed to expire by the time we get to 4:00 a.m. tomorrow. here are your daytime highs. we'll stay in the mid-50s. if you're wondering, i knowy dennis and vern have let us no, but the weather will be fine for the super bowl liv today. temperatures it upper 60s. seven-day forecast. no rain. the main headline will be today's wind and the cold temperatures over the first three mornings of this workweek. other than that nice and sunny and upper 60s by the end of the

i'm emily turner. >> i'm devin fehely. let's start this half-hour with a check of the weather with darrin in the weather center. >> a winter advisory started at 4:00 a.m. and staying until 4:00 a.m. tomorrow. it is really this afternoon. >> hold the 49ers's hats on tight. >> and beware if you're doing any outdoor parties for the super bowl. windy enough today that tents or anything like that could get blown away. we'll see 40-mile-an-hour gusts today. right now though, because the worst of the wind hasn't begun. i am seeing a few gusts up to the 20, 30-mile-an-hour range but for most of us it is just a breeze at this point and still warm. we're right around 50 for most locations. there is patchy fog but you have to be in lad. livermore visit up to 1 mile. current wind speeds show you it is windy at the coast and in the hills but for most of us so

u.s. citizens can enter but they will be quarantined for 14 days. the coronavirus has now claimed its first victim outside of china. the 44-year-old man died in the philippines. the death toll in china throw is now at 304. the virus lasek kenned over 14,000 peep. that includes 8 people in the u.s. one of those is in santa clara county. meanwhile, the air force base is a morning four on standby that will house and quarantine up to 1,000 american evacuees. they will house 250 individual rooms. if that happens they would stay there through february 29th. the base released a statement saying airmen would not have direct contact with those evacuees. this morning santa clara county deputies are on the hunt for the suspects in an ambush attack that left one of their

own injured. a deputy was shot friday. he was on the road when a silver vehicle with two passengers approached limb. the driver tuned off their headlights and someone inside that car opened fire. it hit the deputy's bodycam leaving with him non-life- threatening injuries. the car sped away. it is groundhog day. we'll we have along winter? find out the prediction next. plan

winder. punxsutawney phil predicted an early spring. >> it is not felt a lot like it, but it will start to trend that way. >> it will. especially in the mornings over the next three days. that might be what you notice more than anything else. it's will get cold around here tomorrow, tuesday and wednesday morning. here is a live look outside. we have been watching pretty lights for the 9ers there. switch that view to the one there. it has pretty colored lights on it. sunrise doesn't come up until 7:14 this morning. as far as how it feels temperature wise, we're kind of warm, low 50s around most of the bay area. it is either low 50s or mid 40s. we'll switch now for the morning lows to monday. the numbers go a lot lower. look at the 31 for santa rosa tomorrow 36 san jose. 34 concourse and livermore. this is going to be a dramatic change from this morning to

tomorrow. in fact, over the next few mornings, oakland from 48 degrees this morning down to 38 on tuesday for the morning low. the record for tuesday in oakland coldest has been 37. we're approaching records here. santa rosa is going down to 30 on tuesday morning. that will be the cold spot. san jose is another example of another cold location at 33. if you're inland contra costa county, numbers similar to those. that issue on the top of the list here. it is about to get cold. the wind advisory, we talked about. this is where the gusts are going to be by the time we get into the late morning today. we're hitting speeds near 25. that is a windy day. we could get flying debris. the wind will get better on monday but it is not really -- we're not out of the woods until monday morning at 4:00 a.m. and then it will be ability

dozens of rv camp earnings parked will soon have to loaf. the city plans to clear out a stretch of the road by february 6th and then they are going to be placing boulders along the road to prevent future parking. homeless people have been parking there since last summer, but may have been getting complaints from businesses and the workers. >> they want to put a chain and drag it out of the way. shame on them. they know we exist but they don't want to look at it. >> they are kicking us when we're down. instead of lifting us up. >> in september, some neighbors did the same thing and placed
