she did that, she replied quote it was the courteous thing to do, given the alternative. democrats running for president have moved on to new hampshire tonight. without knowing who officially won in iowa. 62% of the votes have been tallied at the moment. pete buttigieg is leading the pack, followed closely by bernie sanders, elizabeth warn is in third place, joe biden is in fourth place. now the caucus chaos, they are calling it, is a clearing embarrassment . this is the first contest in the primary season. it is also source of frustration for the candidates. >> obviously, i am disappointed . i think that i can speak for all of the candidates. >> organizers are limiting the delay on a coding glitch that forced staffers to go to each of the nearly 1700 caucus sites to cross-reference the results. >> in less than five hours hundreds of americans evacuated

from china, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak. they will arrive at travis air force base. our chopper five caught cruise setting up fences. they have also set up tents. about 250 passengers will be quarantined for 14 days at that facility. they are expected to arrive at 130 in the morning. earlier today they were screened on the ground before taking off. more than 500 us citizens are making their way to california. the other americans will head to another base in southern california. tonight we are learning that united has plan to stop's daily flights from san francisco to hong kong. they have already suspended flights to and from other cities in mainland china. in hong kong, thousands of medical workers are demanding that their government closed its borders with mainland china. that comes after the city reported its first death.

deaths from the virus rose to 490 in china. crews are working around the clock to find space for the growing number of people. in addition to a newly built hospital, crews are converting upper other areas into makeshift hospitals. >> it seems that the virus spreads fairly easy when you are not isolated cases. >> health officials have identified a second case of a person to person transmission. a husband and a wife from send bonito county. the cdc is currently monitoring 82 people for potential infection. meanwhile back here in the bay area, leaders in san francisco's chinatown are launching a pr offensive. kpix 5 has that part of the story. >> reporter: the department of the public health has become as much of a public relations firm, as much as anything else, dispelling rumors that the

virus is in san francisco. rumors are flying fast. he is here to set the record straight. >> there are no cases in san francisco. >> reporter: even with this, there are rumors flying, saying that the virus was present. >> somebody was telling, what is going on? are they came together to dispel that rumor and assured those who might be worried that chinatown is open for business. >> we are healthy here. so do not worry about what they are saying, you are welcome. >> reporter: with the new year parade slated as they go on saturday, emergency management officials want to spread the word about common sense precautions for the coronavirus and the flu. >> wash her hands.

>> we hear about the effort to get other business owners to set up shop in downtown san jose. >> reporter: it was a lot of fanfare with his grand opening. but also, as the owners of the business acknowledge, a lot of risk. and with that, san jose's newest downtown restaurant was launched. they serve specialty snacks, using spam, chicken and seafood. >> this is a staple snack in hawaii. everywhere you go, if you go to the beach, everybody has one. >> reporter: the restaurant is open he, a walkway between san jose state and cesar chavez. there are several closed and field businesses all along. demonstrating the struggling retail market. >> him not a lot of people can look back the businesses. but here we are, we are opening

. we took the chance and we are doing very well so far. >> reporter: beside office and housing, this is an important component of a driving downtown. but one has eluded san jose for decades. and it now has a program called small business alleys, designed to help entrepreneurs to get a foothold. >> to work with small businesses to get through all of the intricacies to get their permits filed, improved and the inspections done. we sort of concierge their way through the maze to make it happen. this is what happened here. >> going into business was our. we learned a lot along the way. we messed up a lot of things, but san jose helped us. >> i'm taking these back to my work friends. are ultimately the success or failure of many businesses are in the hands of consumers. >> there really is not a whole lot going on, now it is coming

of freezing. clear and chilly overnight. the coldest lows will be near freezing. seasonal temperatures bring us nearer 62 degrees. the high temperatures will reach 70 degrees by friday and saturday. there is a bit of a warming trend on tap for the bay area as we all stay tuned. it has been fairly breezy, which makes it feel a little bit more on the chill side. right now they are off shore. this just takes all of the moisture out of the air. we get dry offshore winds and high pressure building. and the temperatures are following suit. as you can see over's san francisco, it is looking mighty nice. temperatures now in the 40s. san francisco will be high and dry for the most part. temperatures tomorrow are mostly going to be in the mid 60s for the bay area.

the numbers come up a notch or two. in terms of rain, it looks like we will get not a drop over the next seven days. we have said he skies right through the weekend. the temperatures are gone dmv warming up to near 70 degrees by the time we get to friday and saturday. as we go to next week, there is not a drop of rain in the house. nevertheless, unusually dry at this point in the season. it is going to stay that way right through monday. >> all right. still ahead, the coronavirus is now impacting car production. the supply chain issues that are affecting a major automaker. ♪

tonight macy's is preparing to close its tech offices in emphasis, as part of a broader downsizing plans. employees will have the option to reply for positions that are being relocated. the antioch store is among 125 stores slated to close in the next three years. as the company shifted its focus towards smaller format stores and outlets. tesla stock hit record highs today. this comes after a major story forecast, it will hit $1 trillion in revenue in 10 years

and continue to grow. the shares closed up nearly 14%, at $887 a share, after surging as much as 23% earlier today. and a here is a look at the major indices. the nasdaq surged to a record close. the dow jones and the s&p also finished closer higher. this has forced them to suspend production this is because the outbreak in china has disrupted their supply chain to the point that they cannot build cars. they are now looking for temporary alternative suppliers. still ahead, like a scene from a disney movie. an unlikely pair, camera. ♪

it was caught on camera in the southbay. it is a scene seemingly right out of a nature movie. >> it is pretty amazing. researchers were traveling were studying how animals travel and i, they caught a pretty unique peer plane and eight tunnel. you can see the coyote dancing. this is at the covert entrance trying to coax its pal, a badger to follow him. once inside of the pipe, the coyote turns around to make sure that the badger is keeping up. richards believe that the two pet, are combining forces to
